S03.E03: YOU WANT A REAL COSTUME, RIGHT?

Recommended Posts

Heh, Mark gets a new suit now that he is no longer part of Cecil's squad, but now everyone thinks he's actually a different hero and refer to him as Invinciboy instead.  That would actually check out if superheroes were a thing in real life.

Damn, the Maulers might be done for finally.  Granted, with this show, another mysterious clone is not off the table, but it was still wild watching villains who have been around since the beginning get dropped with ease.  Oliver is dangerous!  Despite his claims at the end, I really don't think he understands why what he did was wrong and even if the Maulers might have deserved it, it is easy to believe that a point will come where Oliver will see someone as a threat and try to kill them as well, but they actually don't deserve it.  Hope Mark and Deborah keep an eye on all of that.

I wonder if Amber's scene was a final send-off of some kind or if she's going to factor back in.

Almost wondered if Art was recast, because his voice sounded really different, but that was still Mark Hamill apparently.  Meanwhile Titan was voiced by someone who wasn't Mahershala Ali, but I didn't realized it until the credits.  New guy did a pretty good job there.

That voice at the end was Angestrom/Sterling K. Brown, right?  I guess a variation of him is still around.

I know there are conventions and everything, but I actually tend to side with Oliver.

The Maulers have been a recurring threat capable of hurting and even killing heroes and out to dominate the world. They would have happily killed Invincible and the rest of the Global Guardians if they could.

Why keep them in a prison where there is a good chance they will escape, threaten society and possibly kill people again. At some point, isn't someone irredeemable? And haven't the Maulers reached that point?

I really don't understand Mark or Oliver's powers. They are portrayed as in the line of the uber heroes, and yet Mark gets knocked out by the Kursk and Furnace duo. And Oliver, too, though he later tells Mark "it barely hurt." So you can be knocked unconscious, but you don't feel it?

At least Oliver did the smart thing and went for the gun. Though he seems to have the same arrogant outlook and anger issue as OmniMan and Invinciboy.

Debbie told her date the truth wayyyyy too early in their relationship. Second date? Didn't we already have brainy guy say that in half the universes his secret identity was known, and that was stupid? Was that a plot anvil?

The Manglers are fun. "They downgraded us!"

I think it is less about that then the show drawing a somewhat arbitrary line between good and bad. "We good guys do A and B, but not C ... unless we have no choice. And then, if we do, we feel badly about it. For a while." It confuses me, but as I'm sure you know, it is a common superhero plot angle so it gives them something to do. I tire of it quickly.
