No money, no insurance she wouldn't have many options but to go to an ER which, can't turn her away.  I believe Urgent Care could turn her away if she did not have insurance, and no way to pay up front.

Urgent Care Centers are part of a big scam to make money. It is just like going to the doctor but not having to wait for an appointment. No money, no care. Insurance will cover but there are networks.

Having gone through a situation where I needed a specialist doctor I never needed before after leaving the hospital for a serious condition, trying to get an appointment t is pathetically ridiculous. I couldn't even talk to a sympathetic person on the phone, or try to have a paid televisit just so the doctor could explain to me the things that the hospital did not explain because some results came a few days after discharge.

So, while fudging the date gave the girl the option of a medical abortion rather than a surgical one; it was less likely to be successful which meant she might well need to get a surgical procedure in the end anyway.

I don't think we can be 100% sure he fudged the date. He said that there is a margin of error or something like it when checking the ultrasound and that they should check again. Of course, in this case he could still be wrong but not really changing the time. The size of the fetus would be recorded in the ultrasound

I don't know what it's like in PA but where I live there aren't enough family physicians and so people who don't have one go to the ER for things that they otherwise should be going to their family doctor for.

There is a real shortage of doctors everywhere. In my experience, there is also a shortage of good doctors everywhere. Many were just swallowed by the absurd American system and gave up on doing it al for the patients. Which is not an excuse, imo

I am really annoyed at medical shows that give more than 2 mg of Lorazepam for people having seizures. In hospitals, if anyone receives 2 mg and then has another seizure is a big deal. They will not give another one, they will wait, i don't know what happens after that if the seizures continue but I think it is something drastic, like deep sedation. In the case of that patient, they don't know his baseline, so I can try to overlook. But I had fights with nurses trying to give a friend 2 mg of Lorazepam after a seizure that was just like the many she has. Then she had another one, thirty minutes later, they just stood there, looking at me and doing absolutely nothing. The second seizure was like the firs, no need for any Lorazepam. That's the state of medical workers in this country. I was the one writing the policy for my friend's care after that. When she had a seizure, they had to ask me if she needed Lorazepam.

Also, Keppra is not that reliable for what they want to use it. It is not really good for that type of seizure shown. It works better with partial seizures and it is long term care, not Emergency medication

I had assumed that Kristi and auntie were in PA from a neighboring state  w/o available abortion care  (WV perhaps).  Mom mentioned "fun weekend w auntie" and didn't Auntie  say they were at a hotel?  Perhaps it would be more realistic for them to be at PP but I saw it as a desperate ploy that they cooked up - head to the nearest big city that allowed abortion and then try and find a doctor to do it. They may have gone to the ER out of ignorance (after being turned away at PP for no appt) and begged Dr Abbot to help and he agreed if they came back (perhaps at the very end of his shift?).
