I just ran a system upgrade to the latest version. There *might* have been a tiny bug that when a routine task to clear out old files ran, it caught a signal from the clear caches thing and unsynced some javascript files. That might be why things work for awhile and then buttons stop working and images stop loading.

Anyways, give it a bit then yell if there are problems.

I was wondering what had happened! I couldn’t respond or post in this thread, nor was I able to create a new topic!

But everything seems to be back to normal now.

Incredibly frustrating as things are rebuilt fine, then a task that runs 3 hours later throws some cached JS files out of sync and then the file names do not match so they don't get loaded. Hoping this is it.

So, is this sort of intervention not advisable going forward?:

Cleared forum caches again.

FYI: I quoted these using the direct quote feature, so not sure why the authors are not showing. The second quote is by @CM-BlueButterfly.
But the curvy arrows do direct to the original quote, so maybe more cache disconnects, which is kind of to the point of
MY QUESTION(S) :

  1. Can clearing the actual forum’s cache (not users’ browsers’ caches) cause more wonkiness?
  2. And if a mod clearing the forum's cache does create more wonkieness, is that good/necessary/temporary wonkieness?
  3. Or is it unnecessary and slows down the board software from getting back to normal?
  4. Or…?

P.S.: Feel free not to make this comment live if it’s too confusing.

I am noticing this morning that the blue line indicating new or unread replies is gone, but we do see text stating where normally the blue line would be.

Also, when marking a thread read, the blue boxes of that would normally have the text "cancel' and "okay" are invisible.

And as the poster above stated, quote attributions to other posters are missing.

This is all on the server end; dealing with it.

Mayhaps there is a wild conflict with the S3 (not AMZ) storage so I moved all the theme/css/js stuff back to the server for hosting.

All blessings to Krampus, may this bring merriment to the holidays.

Quotes are back and the double images gone.
