Taeolas Thursday at 11:55 AM Share Thursday at 11:55 AM Wasp put in a strong showing, and any other season, he probably would have been the winner. But Buffalo's harmonies just could not be beat. And I think once he realized who they were, he was fine with losing to them. He obviously respected them a lot, both before and especially after the reveal. As I just mentioned in last week's ep thread, I think he was a bit disappointed he didn't get a real chance to do a duet with them in the end. (Other than the group intros they often did; but this ep didn't give them a chance to sing in it) All season long, Buffalo have been blowing us away. They did songs outside their genre, but their harmonizing was hard to hide. Later on, they somewhat went back to their roots and brought them out more, and were stronger for it. I (like many people) had their CD growing up. I'm Canadian, but I often listened to an American rock/pop station, so I was exposed to them that way and sought their disc out that time. I enjoyed their music, but didn't follow them much, so I don't know anything about their history after their time in the spotlight. For me, they just faded away like all the other boy bads and girl bands and other low-hit wonders through the years. But last night, their voices really came through and the memories came flooding back. So big gratz to BoysIIBuffalo; you did a great job (even if the show is rigged 10 ways from sunday, it was a solid competition and win this year) 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151145-s12e12-a-champion-is-crowned-finale/#findComment-8536616
rr2911 Thursday at 06:40 PM Share Thursday at 06:40 PM Of course I've heard of BoyzIIMen, but maybe I could recognize 1 song. I didn't listen to them or that genre. I'll see how the next season goes. If it is the same reveals with artists that I'm not familiar with then I'll let it go or at least place it in the bubble. Right now my go to must see is The Floor. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151145-s12e12-a-champion-is-crowned-finale/#findComment-8536866
Taeolas Thursday at 06:55 PM Share Thursday at 06:55 PM I figure I recognize maybe a quarter of the people they have on the show; but that's mainly because I'm stuck in the 80's/90's and don't follow celebrities, sports nor influencers much. So I mainly recognize music artists from those eras and/or actors from t hat era but not much else. That said, I still enjoy the show even if I don't recognize most of the people under the mask because I usually have some idea where they are from even if I don't watch/listen to them. And I enjoy seeing people stretch their skills a bit and try new things which this show lets many do. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151145-s12e12-a-champion-is-crowned-finale/#findComment-8536877
Ananayel Thursday at 07:32 PM Share Thursday at 07:32 PM I really enjoyed this finale, and was a bit surprised it wasn't declared to be a tie. I am slightly familiar with Boyz II Men, not with Mario. But I loved how happy he was to share the stage with them, and he clearly believed he was a winner regardless. None of the panel annoyed me, it was good to see Rita back (and I won't mind if she takes the spot permanently,) and I liked the family cameos. Still my favorite show! 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151145-s12e12-a-champion-is-crowned-finale/#findComment-8536910
blackwing Friday at 07:25 PM Share Friday at 07:25 PM It was obvious to me who both Buffalos and Wasp were. I think this is the strongest finale ever. Both were deserving winners. Congrats to Boyz II Men for winning and being the first group winners (although I still think Wilson Phillips and their amazing harmonies should have beaten Amber Riley!). It was clear that Mario was honored to lose to them and to share the stage with them. When they started up with "Motownphilly", wow.... just took me back decades. Loved seeing how excited Mario was to sing with them when he joined in with "so we started a group and here we are". I read that Rita is coming back for Season 13. Yay to her sticking around, she's been a fantastic panelist. Disappointing that Nicole isn't back. Maybe she can come back as a contestant? That would be amazing. Since everything seems to be filmed in the span of two weeks, maybe Sunset Boulevard can take a two week break and she can be on the show. One of these days, I dream that Ken Jeong will get fired. I wouldn't mind a panel of Rita, Nicole, Jenny and Robin. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151145-s12e12-a-champion-is-crowned-finale/#findComment-8537589
