Huh, I'm not sure what happened at the end there. Who were the people running off to the side of the Bandits? It looked like another version of them. Another timey-wimey thing? 

Boy I hope this gets renewed, and I'm not confident it will. I really enjoyed it for the most part.

I think this was supposed to be a prequel to the movie and the group running away at the end, having presumably stolen the map, are the Time Bandits from the film.

Pretty sure that was the group of little people we've been seeing get together the past couple of episodes.  And you definitely can see the one in front holding the map.  Certainly a nod to the movie, at a minimum!
