CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING follows parents Astrid (Rath) and James (Abrams), as they raise their three young children and struggle to hold on to their pre-kid life, while discovering all of the little ways that raising kids has reshaped their world. Each episode explores how the demands, needs and whims of the little weirdos they love so dearly shape and change their lives.

The fun and fumbles of raising kids continues for Astrid (Rath), who now faces the pressure of being the sole bread winner, and James (Abrams), who struggles with his new role of stay-at-home dad. Parenting is more challenging and funnier than ever with tween Felix (Nicholson) asserting more independence and attitude, seven-year-old Viv (SwamiNathan) dealing with friend drama at school, and Morris, a toddler who steals. Meanwhile, Astrid’s sister Dawn (Contractor) and her husband Bo (Chepovetsky) fuss over their surrogate’s pregnancy, Bo’s business find new success under Marla’s (Codrington) watchful eye, and James’s best pal Ennis (Esmer) finally commits to a relationship. The complications of work and child-rearing may pull Astrid and James in different directions but they always end up on the same page – even if that page is dog-eared and stained with jam.

I'm not convinced the 4th season will actually premiere on the 13th given the CW put Inside the NFL there in October, booting Joan to Fridays. The Futon Critic is showing the NFL show will be there until at least January and that Children will premiere sometime in 2025. I guess we'll see if the CW puts out a press release about it sometime soon

S04.E01: Respect

Astrid (Meaghan Rath) and James (Aaron Abrams) realize they are at the dawning of a new era when Felix (Logan Nicholson) starts showing signs of pre-teen rebellion. As they struggle to manage his shifting moods, they learn this next phase of parenting might be the hardest one yet. Meanwhile, James tries to ease tensions after he rejects Bo’s (Dmitry Chepovetsky) job offer.

S04.E02: Recognition

After Nisha (Veena Sood) gets in a minor fender bender, Astrid (Meaghan Rath) decides to help her buy a new car and in the process, completely undermines Nisha’s own efforts. Meanwhile, James’ (Aaron Abrams) stay-at-home-dad duties eclipse his efforts of a job search when he struggles to complete a simple task as part of an interview.

S04.E03: Chores

When Astrid (Meaghan Rath) and James (Aaron Abrams) question the effectiveness of their own parenting when they meet one of Felix’s (Logan Nicholson) friends with impeccable manners. When they fail in getting Felix and Viv (Mikayla SwamiNathan) to behave correctly or pitch in around the house, Astrid and James worry about the types of adults their kids will become.

S04.E04: Feelings

James (Aaron Abrams), feeling left out when Ennis (Ennis Esmer) makes a new friend, inserts himself in Ennis’ dodgeball tournament. Meanwhile, Astrid (Meaghan Rath) struggles to get Viv (Mikayla SwamiNathan) to control her emotions, especially when frustrations at work make it hard to lead by example.

Wait, looking at the beginning of this thread, I did watch the first two episodes. So it did premiere at the end of last month. So confusing

S04.E05: Bedtime

When James (Aaron Abrams) finds an old game console, he and Astrid (Meaghan Rath) attempt to find free time to play. Unfortunately, a loosely enforced bedtime routine threatens to eat up all the precious time between when the kids are supposed to be in bed and when Astrid and James have to go to bed themselves.

S04.E06: Drama

In a daytime soap opera influenced episode, Astrid (Meaghan Rath) feels pushed out of Dawn's (Nazneen Contractor) pregnancy by Zinnia (Gwynne Phillips) and begins to suspect her of something sinister. Meanwhile, James (Aaron Abrams) and Rachel (guest star Anna Hopkins) clash over an incident at Viv's (Mikayla SwamiNathan) school takes a melodramatic life of its own.

I'm really annoyed by their parenting style, and the way the show never has them actually change anything. They just reset to the same mistakes over and over again. 

Their kids are horrific brats,  but they seem to think it's aadorable.

 

I do think it's funny that the baby is now called Morris by everyone, even though that was just Viv's idea.

Those kids *are* adorable lol. I enjoyed this week’s episodes, especially the first one. Glad to see “dog” Viv made a “cat” friend
