That was sad but Alexander really needed a wake up call to be more careful. Despite living in a gilded prison he’s been allowed to pursue a privileged lifestyle. Sooner or later someone was going to notice.

Rostov becomes a beekeeper for the next 50 years? Is Jason Statham his son?

Nina must have told Osip about the Master Key in order to get promoted... He is waiting for another time to play that card...

So many disappointments for the characters.

That's the point though - the world is changing and the people who go out in the world are changing too.  Only Alexander has been allowed, through imprisonment, to remain unaware of how difficult things are for most people.  And so he accidentally insults others who take out their frustrations in various ways.  Or he doesn't pick up on hints like from Anna, because he's stuck playing the game in the old way.

If the bees can change, he can change.

According to the caretaker, original bees killed their queen and flew away / died. The apple loving Rostov bees migrated to Moscow and took over the hive.
