BetterButter April 4 Share April 4 Disney plus May 4 Animated & Kids Quote Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is an all-new six-episode anthology series of stories off the heels of the original Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. Take a look at the trailer showcasing the series' two main stories centered around Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee as they serve the Empire on one singular path to the dark side of the Force. The trailer also shows fan-favorite characters such as Grand Admiral Thrawn and the legendary General Grievous. paigow May 5 Share May 5 (edited) Morgan Elsbeth wants revenge... for what? All the other NightSisters getting killed? Then working for the Empire is inexplicable... Big Brain Thrawn fails to point this out as well... frenchtoast May 5 Share May 5 Yeah, didn't really care that much about Morgan. I mean, the animation was great, liked a peek at another clan from Dathomir, and Grievous and the droids were terrifying. But I think I understood Morgan better before these episodes. And who knew that it was Morgan that designed the TIE Defenders. And it will all come to naught, thanks to Ezra and Sabine. Hahahaha. I remembered Rukh? Ruckh? from Rebels too. He looked way better here. And still glad that Spoiler he gets fried at the end. On the other hand, I really liked Barriss's story. She wasn't sure about the Inquisitors, figured out real quick that it was not for her at all, and was able to actually become the Jedi/Force user she wanted to be. If she was angry at the Jedi for making her become a soldier and turning away from the Light, she was able to finally become who she wanted to be--a healer, someone who defends life. And truly, I think Ahsoka would understand. Vader? No. Ahsoka, who she really betrayed, yes. She gets it. The only thing that makes me sad is that Ahsoka still has to fight and Barriss got to put that aside. On an aesthetic note, I hated the shiny hair. Brought to mind Rebels. Ugh. Please stop with the shiny hair. Otherwise the animation was absolutely beautiful. Can we get Tales of the Clones now? paigow May 7 Share May 7 New Republic really thought Morgan would be scared by 6 poorly armed traffic cops? No wonder the First Order grew quickly. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/145514-star-wars-tales-of-the-empire-general-discussion/#findComment-8361482
KeithJ May 7 Share May 7 The Morgan story was boring. She wanted revenge against who? The Separatists were defeated, they no longer exist. Who exactly was she going to take her revenge out on? The Barriss story was ok but kinda pointless. Overall, I was disappointed with this entire series. That's what I was trying to figure out, unless the point was that her Parkside emotions (anger, hate, fear) clouded all logic. It didn't matter that the people who killed her family (General Greevis and The Separatists were defeated) she just needed someone to hate? While I liked the episodes, I don't really think it added much to the character, I didn't need her backstory to understand her roles in The Mandalorian/Ahsoka. I'm going to watch the Barris episodes later today. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/145514-star-wars-tales-of-the-empire-general-discussion/#findComment-8366587
DoctorAtomic May 18 Share May 18 fwiw, I think it's great that there's means to tell all different kinds of stories now. I don't know how expensive these mini series are to produce, but since we're not seeing Mando or Ahsoka probably until I'm collecting social security, I'd like to see more of these. My main interest is really only in the force stuff though. I have to laugh, where we have characters named Ahsoka, Anakin, Dooku; we have just Morgan. Oh, and Hondo! I did like that young Morgan was largely hostile. I can buy it. I also laughed at the guy complaining about the cost of the TIEs. Ok. Did they have coupons for the Death Star? To be fair, Thrawn did ask her why she 'seeks Imperial favor'. tbh, I think she just didn't fit in anywhere. She was an angry kid (justifiably). She wanted revenge; ok, so you're all correct in saying that those parties are gone. So what? You still want to take that anger out. Your actions don't have be rational or logical. She did say 'my world has been burning since I was a child'. We all know Thrawn well enough by now. He's not going to point out to Morgan that she can let it go. He knows she's smart, and she can contribute to his goals. I can only speak for myself, of course, but I don't think my own talents have been recognized where I work to the extent that I think are fair. I'm not filled with anger and hate because I have outside collaborators that do value me, but I'm listening to Thrawn if he rolls in to town. I understand the criticisms, but I think there was a more philosophical bent to this story. Was that the Beskar spear that Morgan fought Ahsoka with in the live action show? He's not going to point out to Morgan that she can let it go. My point was that the Empire eradicated the NightSisters and Thrawn knows this. But he turns Morgan into a rage monster against the New Republic. With perfect information [like the audience has] Morgan would have chosen a different path. DoctorAtomic May 19 Share May 19 She already was a rage monster by the time Thrawn got there. He channeled and directed that rage. That was on the tail end of her TIE design and some old crusty career military just dismissing her. Being on the end of dismissal like that is really galling. "Thrawn fails to point out" isn't really a fail; it's calculated. So I just don't think working for the Empire is inexplicable. I don't think Morgan chooses a different path with perfect information. Robots coming in and wiping everyone out is one thing; Grevious is a monster out of a nightmare. She's got damage and trauma. That's what happened. I almost feel a little bad now Ahsoka got her, and I'm one billion per cent Ahsoka. frenchtoast May 19 Share May 19 I don't know that it was the Empire that wiped out the Night Sisters. I always thought it was Dooku pitching a fit about Ventress and Savage Oppress (however it's spelled) and he unleashed his attack dog Grievous. Either way, it was definitely traumatic. But also, it always felt like the Night Sisters had a chip on their shoulders anyway. 2 hours ago, DoctorAtomic said: How about Tales of Rex? At this point I'd take it. But maybe also Tales of Cody? DoctorAtomic May 25 Share May 25 I don't know if I remember who Barriss was. I guess she was the one who framed Ahsoka? I didn't think we'd get a Vader cameo though! Nice. I don't get why Barriss wore the helmet, but the other one didn't. I would think they'd all want to be disguised. I had to laugh when Lyn ditched the cape. They're so useless. But I did like Barriss not needing the sabre like the Inquisitor did to her. That ended weird. Did Barriss die?
