Suggestion/feedback regarding 2/5/24 Welcome Back banner

You said you welcome feedback so I guess this is the place to give it?  I welcome your plan to address toxicity, although personally I’ve been lucky enough to not be exposed to it in any of the forums I follow. 

Could I make two requests regarding future downtime?  I don’t know how feasible they would be for this specific site, but I’ve seen it happen on other forums I’m active in:

- give users some advance notice if there’s a planned outage coming up

- put up a read only version of the site, for those of us who are catching up on older shows and just want to read the comments.

This is a good middle ground suggestion. We'll consider this type of view-only option if pausing the forum is necessary again.

I'm glad to see the emphasis on maintaining a healthy community here. Thank you to the admins and mods for being proactive and not allowing toxicity to fester. The forums I follow are also pretty well-behaved but I have seen real-life politics trying to creep into shows that cover similar issues. I watch TV to escape that kind of stuff!

Just on a technical note, I'm browsing the site on Firefox and I have the site set to Dark Mode. When I look at the announcement banner from the main forums page, it comes up with a white background which makes the text hard to read. When I click on the banner from here, it comes up normally with a dark grey background.

That's a good idea.

While we're offering feedback, I've been meaning to say but didn't think it warranted a thread:  I'm pleased new forums now start off with a short summary of the show, a trailer, or something else beyond a title so I don't have to go look it up elsewhere to see if it's a show in which I might be interested.  I know it's a little extra work, and I appreciate those taking the time to do it.
