DanaK June 27, 2023 Share June 27, 2023 Hulu 3 part doc series premiering July 7 Quote Explores the unbelievable rise and fall of the scandalous and notorious dating platform Ashley Madison. As internet dating began to take off in the early 2000s, one dating site catering to extramarital affairs violated all conventions. This series explores the shameless marketing tactics that not only caught the attention of its intended audience but also a group of hackers known as The Impact Team. The docu-series tells the story of the hackers' unmet demand, a data breach, and the catastrophic fallout. Upon the exposé-style demise of Ashley Madison, the public soon discovered that perhaps the site's unfaithful users were not the only ones with a secret. 4 Link to comment
QQQQ July 7, 2023 Share July 7, 2023 (edited) This is how my parents met, so really looking forward to watching the series. 😂😂😂😂😂 ETA: Ok, I watched it. Yawn. Definitely not worth 3 episodes. Probably could've been covered in an hour. Edited July 8, 2023 by QQQQ 2 1 6 Link to comment

It kept my interest, but geez, if you remove all the random shots of raindrops, trees, arm hairs standing on end, etc. that were edited in, it would be an hour less right there. 1 5 Link to comment
greekmom July 8, 2023 Share July 8, 2023 I found it interesting. Some takeaway thoughts. Alot of these spouses that were cheated on really were blaming the wrong thing. AM wasn't the culprit of your failed marriage. It was the spouse. That is like blaming grindr, POF and tinder if your spouse is using those apps to find people to sleep with. Yeah, I get that their whole advertising was "hey have an affair!" But smoking ads would tell you to light up, gambling ads tell you to play online or at casinos and ads for alcohol tell you to have that drink. Just because there is an ad out there - doesn't mean you have to consume or use the product. While I liked the fact that the Impact Team leaked the CEO's emails, I don't think it was right that they leaked users stuff. Yes, it outed scum like Josh Dugger but it also affected people who lost their jobs and their families and their lives. It wasn't right. Look at the guy that was in the swinger lifestyle. He didn't deserve to be outed. And why would that church look at the emails and compare them to their congregation? It's all very revengeful and wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right. While I applaud the marketing that AM did, I don't applaud the use of bots. They really should have credited back all those credit cards. I love the fact that people, especially certain people that they showed clips were very judgey of people who had affairs yet when people are judgey on their "lifestyle", they call foul. Overall interesting. I dislike that I had to get this off a friend because Hulu refuses to air in Canada. 4 2 Link to comment
