I don't know what made me sadder, Uncle Robbie crying or Jock comforting him... 😢 And Declan remains in favour because he was trying to cheer Robbie up.

Can't say I'm that upset that Amy's gone because once you pointed out the giggling, @Snazzy Daisy, it started to really bug me. 😆

I reckon this two-part challenge is deceptive.  Some might remember that that's what brought Sashi undone so early on in Fans v Favourites last year.  He spent a lot of time fussing over some bread and it meant he neglected the main part of the dish, the curry, which ended up being all out of balance (which is so unlike the way he'd usually cook).

S15•E15 - Overnight Elimination Challenge

Thank you @katisha for starting a new thread!

This overnight challenge reminds me of Sashi’s elimination. Don’t like it. It makes cool Robbie getting emotional too, thus making us all sad.

Good job, Theo. Keep cooking from heart.

Dishes from Grace and Phil - do they really hit the brief? Fried chicken and falafel, for real?

Hey Rhiannon, that’s NOT beef rendang. Saved by the sambal, what a close call.

Malissa and Ralph, enough with the pasta already. Cook something else!

Hey judges, please stop trying to make “gelatinous” a thing. You’ve tried that with “side hustle”.

Am I crazy or the cameramen like to focus on Malissa’s 🍑 every now and then?

The concept of Declan’s outfits for day 1 and day 2 really clashes each other. But hey, they’re much better than Shannon Bennett’s.

The moment that makes me laugh - the weird conversation between Andy and Adi about her “shoulder”, then Mel laughing hysterically. 😂

I just don’t get it. Why can’t she talk like a normal person?

And now, no more annoying giggling. Yay! 😆

I was pretty sure Declan would be bottom three before he'd even decided what to cook today.  How did I know?  Let's call it the "Larissa effect".  If the producers seem to REALLY like you one week, very soon after that they will turn on you like rabid dogs and you will very quickly lose whatever HUGE! BIGGEST EVAH! OMG YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW MASSIVE! advantage.  My completely non-psychic prediction for tomorrow night is that Declan will play his pin at some point.

Mmm, now I want some Fruit Loops.

Thank you for not making cornflake pasta, Ralph.  Was that what Melissa was hinting at when she said, "This is the sort of food you should be cooking"?

”Declan is your name, and muffin is not your game.”

Yeah, that little pin is cursed.

Tomorrow, it’s all about precision. I hope Grace can pull herself together, stay focus and nail the pressure test.

Jock talking about his son, Alfie…😢

Credit to Adi for correctly identifying that Fruit Loops were the most fun cereal -- all those cornflake dishes put me to sleep. Correct (childhood) ranking of the Kellogg's variety pack: Fruit Loops / Coco Pops equally great, Nutri-Grain, Sultana Bran, Rice Bubbles, Cornflakes, Sustain, Special K.

OK, Declan, I give up - you've finally won me over and I'm officially a fan.  A few reasons...

  • You could have wussed out and played the immunity pin but you didn't.  Good on you for backing yourself and your judgment.
  • The decision to re-do the tempered chocolate also took guts because, again, you had the chance to use the pin at that point too.
  • You were very kind to help Alice out at the last minute when she was trying to get her dish finished.

I'm glad Grace stayed and not Alice.  I didn't mind Alice but I think she has a bit more of an introverted personality which doesn't translate so well on TV, plus the massively high IQ she probably has may have made it hard for her to dumb things down to Masterchef edit monkey levels!

Now I would just love it if someone could bring me a Vienetta, stat! 😋

S15•E17 - Donato Toce's Messinetta Pressure Test

TBH, I never understand the appeal of Viennetta. Did MCAU hire an ASMR specialist for this episode? 🙄

So, the promo (spoiler) that showed Declan wearing his pin is from this episode huh.

Declan is definitely getting the Daniel Lamble edit, so I guess he’ll be staying for a while. Declan keeping that pin, excellent strategy. And it’s so nice of him for helping Alice at the end with the spray gun.

Thanks to last Sunday’s promo that showed Grace in a service challenge wearing a purple apron, we know she’s gonna be safe. But I’m still a bit worried when seeing her like she’s still high on sugar or something. This girl is wonky.

We haven’t seen enough of Alice and now she’s gone. The way she’s being edited isn’t that flattering if compared to others. Creativity wise, Alice shouldn’t have gone BEFORE Phil, Malissa and Rhiannon.

Ohh Malissa, please stop yelling from the gantry. Your voice and pitch are f-king annoying. Geez girl! 😒

S15•E18 - Mei Jing Chinese Dine In Team Challenge

What a boring team challenge! And Coles’ placement feels so cheesy.

Rue is such a terrible leader. She doesn’t delegate and she should’ve bought ethically-sourced boneless chicken from Coles so Phil doesn’t have to spend the entire prep times deboning the chicken. I couldn’t believe that Ralph has wasted a lot of times working (only) on the sweet sour dipping sauce for spring rolls and it still lacks of flavor. Rue’s inability to lead gives a chance for Rhiannon to take over the team and pull everybody into completing the entrée, ignoring the sauce for their main dish.

Theo slays as a team leader. He coordinates, oversees, listens and delegates well. He manages to calm down the chaotic Cath a bit. She still sounds like a chipmunk whose tail is on fire though. This woman! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Red team is also lucky to have the powerful duo - Robbie/Declan.

Mel wearing a table cloth and she’s fully aware of it… 😂

Excited for Gabriel Gaté for nostalgia week -- I think I actually joked about it here a few seasons back, calling for more old-school Australian TV chefs on Masterchef. They really missed the chance to have Elizabeth Chong in the last ep. Now please Jeff Jantz, Peter Russell-Clarke and Ian Parmenter.

Hmm...two blokes in successive weeks beat the guest chef and land an immunity pin. Could you try and be a tad less obvious about telegraphing that you want a male winner this season, editors?

Gabriel Gate was great value. I love that he was part of Nostalgia Week. And people may not realise it, but back in his younger days Gabriel was quite the hottie. He was essentially the original Manu.

S15•E19 - Immunity Challenge with Gabriel Gaté

Cath and her teeny-tiny flambé. 😂

Gabriel’s prawn is slightly undercooked? Yeah whatever, Andy. It’s f-king obvious they need Brent to win but 30/30? It’s overkill and they don’t care about it.

Unable to properly say beurre blanc and flambé etc. but can pronounce chateaubriand perfectly. Whatevs. Drop the act. Don’t insult our intelligence, kiddo. Please find another way to be dorkable on TV. 🙄

This episode feels so manufactured. 😣

They think they’re so smart but keep making silly mistakes with the spoilers in the promos. Ugh.

Agree with the male winner edit. I don't mind Brent or Declan; they're both getting edited into different corners, but after Brent's first run on the show I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that the Blokey McBlokeface schtick is not his intention (although the sexual comments about food and his wife he was making a few episodes ago . . . I'll try to forget, I guess?). Declan's inability to speak any languages (and that includes English) he tries doesn't really faze me after seeing dozens of celebrity chefs mispronounce "brunoise" and "mascarpone" for the past two decades of my life.

Gaté was new to me. I thought he was very likable, and I have no opinion about whether or not he should have won. At least they didn't spend more than a couple of minutes playing apocalyptic suspense music and lingering on the one raw prawn.

This season is working for me better than I expected it to, but every episode there are at least seven people I don't remember seeing before and it's long enough after their in-house COVID super spread that I'm wondering what the editors are smoking and/or flambéing.

I feel like Mel's "Cath and Pimm's" joke was the peak of Cath's narrative arc on this show and she can be eliminated within the next week. I would not bet one cent that will happen. But at least please no more talk about licking beaters.

Also, if they are going to drag Marco Pierre White back again, I really hope he delivers even more ridiculous Yoda after an entire blunt word salads than he did last time, because that was some prime LOL entertainment.

Caught a clip of the Chinese restaurant episode on Twitter (I haven't been watching this season), and man, it's interesting that the show didn't learn not to fetishise being in the suburbs after all the criticism of that week in All-Stars, especially since they were in one of the exact same suburbs they used that time (Wantirna, where they did the "things people grew in their backyard" Mystery Box). Very bizarre.

Omg I thought I was the only one who loved this. I loved his weird head gear that looked like tea towels and his ranting and chanting with the contestants hanging onto every word!!!

Bring him back!!!!
