I had similar thoughts, maybe you don't know that for the first baby, but their parents could tell them this. Where are Gael and his sister's parents? KaveDweller April 7, 2023 Share April 7, 2023 Have Gael and Jazmine and husband had a conversation about what they all mean by co-parenting? Because it seems very vague. Do Jazmine and her husband actually have legal rights or are they just helping Gael? I feel like this is going to cause conflict down the line. I knew something bad was going to happen when Mariana went to the hospital, but really? Amnesia? Is the show Alice works for really just a show where they show video of ferrets running around with stupid voiceover? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/138240-s05e04-under-pressure/#findComment-7949183
possibilities April 8, 2023 Share April 8, 2023 Alice's coworkers are Murray, Morie, and Mortie? Did I get that right? The amnesia is so over the top. I really want it to be Evan joking with her, and not real. Please, show, open the next episode with him saying "Psych!" and admitting he knows who she is. It's a cruel joke, but better than suffering through the ultimate tv medical trope of a character with amnesia. I agree an informal co-parenting arrangement is a recipe for disaster. I hope they fix that really fast. Isabella just left, so maybe they are still figuring things out, but it was way too chaotic for my tastes, and I thought Gael was absurdly unprepared. He knew he was going to have a baby soon, they had beenplanning to co-parent before Isabella balked, so I expected them to have talked about it at least a little bit, but he was acting like he had absolutely zero idea of what he was in for. Was he planning to move out of the coterie and in with his sister and her hubs? Was the plan to have Lyric spend half her time there and half with him at the COterie? Is anyone thinking about what a death trap the Coterie is and how hard it would be to babyproof it? Did he not read a single parenting book, nor talk to any other parents? I did like Stef and Lena kind of handwaving his freak out. He needs some role models. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/138240-s05e04-under-pressure/#findComment-7950103

I know this is TV, but I think Gael should work on getting Isabelle to give up her rights, and then he can place the baby with his sister and her husband to adopt her. They would be the legal parents and he could visit and be involved emotionally and have regular visitation, (and she would know he is her bio father not just her uncle) but he isn’t interested in raising a child right now and they are. Gael can be Lyric’s father and not be her primary caregiver. But I think for consistency they need to come up with a visitation plan and some boundaries. As in who’s responsible for what economically, they will consult Gael about major medical/school decisions etc, if Jazmin and her husband want to have a date night or go on an adults trip Gael has right of first refusal as a caregiver etc. I think Stef and Lena comparing it to co-parenting with Mike was a good lesson, however socially and legally Lena was the most disadvantaged as she didn’t have biological or legal claims to Brandon (which they mentioned in The Fosters , and she was the only one not related to anyone in the family biologically, where Steph had Brandon and Mariana/Jesus had each other). Gael and Jazmin will ALWAYS be siblings, they grew up in the same house, same heritage, where there for each other as LGBTQ+ people in their community, I’m not worried about them (yes siblings fight of course), but if I were Jazmin’s husband I would want some rights. What if Jazmin dies tragically or becomes disabled and Gael wants to raise Lyric alone?? I don’t think Gael would be malicious, but 5-10yrs down the line when he’s more stable that could happen. Or what if he marries and has more kids and says Lyric should live with her bio siblings?? It can get MESSY. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/138240-s05e04-under-pressure/#findComment-7951236
possibilities April 9, 2023 Share April 9, 2023 Even as siblings, I think they should have it legal and in writing who's in what roles. There is a child at stake here, and even people who love each other a lot have to define what the hell they're doing. Gael being upset about the doctor visit shows they really didn't talk about any of this yet. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/138240-s05e04-under-pressure/#findComment-7951372

I had thought the sister and her husband were going to legally adopt and be the primary parents, with Gael helping out and visiting a lot, and with Lyric knowing he's the biological dad. But then in this episode he's talking about staying at their house, got upset that he wasn't at the doctor's office, and was talking about needing money to support her. So I have no idea what he's actually thinking. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/138240-s05e04-under-pressure/#findComment-7952313
