I'm going to choose my viewing order because I enjoy heist shows but I think the gimmick is a little silly. I was going to go chronological, which (according to this Vulture article) is:

  • Violet
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Blue
  • White
  • Red
  • Pink

However, the author says that's not actually satisfying because some of the revelations are more fun if you experience them later on... so I'm gonna go with the order he wishes he'd watched them in:

  • Yellow
  • Violet
  • Orange
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Pink
  • White

Now I’m split. I was going to watch in the order they appear but am now wondering if I should go with this instead.

I’m disappointed the chronological order doesn’t follow the color spectrum.

So, I'm not quite done yet, but I decided to watch them in the order they played on my Netflix.

  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Blue
  • Violet
  • Orange
  • Red (just started)

And I presume Pink and then White will be the final episodes. So far, I actually wish that the order was slightly different. I wish my order was a bit more mixed up, since it's mostly gone in order.

I would have been intrigued to have one of the Afters played already for me, to see if the series really IS able to be viewed out of order or if this entire non-linear idea isn't actually something that works that well.

I'll comment further once I finish the final three episodes later tonight to fully assess what order I wish I watched them in. I already have an idea of which episodes I would have moved but I wonder if that changes once I watch the rest. I do think watching them non-chronologically is a more fun way to watch, especially with some of the reveals, but chronological keeps the timeline and details easier to understand and follow along.

So, I finished. I think I have my ideal watch order:

  1. Yellow
  2. Red
  3. Blue
  4. Green
  5. Violet
  6. Orange
  7. Pink
  8. White

It's a bit controversial, especially with having Red so early on, but this version allows for a more fun watch while not having too much spoiled. Pink and White pretty much have to be the last two episodes. Pink spoils way too much on the entire season and White brings everything together. Yellow does a decent job at showing all the characters in some way so it's a good introduction to the plot. With Red being earlier, I think it allows for some "wait, what? How?" questions to arise but, despite it being after the Heist, I don't think it spoils enough to ruin anything. It's more of a fun placement if you want to mix it up in a watch order. It fits well early on if you want a tease of what's to come without being told answers before the questions are brought up.

For me, Blue has to be viewed before Orange for an optimal twist reveal, but I think, for me, I wished there was a break between both episodes to maximize the reveal. Violet can be placed anywhere before Pink/White, really. It explains some significant backstory but it doesn't spoil anything about the actual Heist. As for Green, it was my first episode and I liked it a lot. It works anywhere as well, so I kind of just placed it in the middle. It's a break from the heist, explains some backstory (like Violet) but I think it's an overall better episode.

I think the only worry I have with my watch order is Green and Violet being back-to-back. I think it works if another episode is in between (it's two full episodes away from the heist stuff) so I could theoretically switch Orange and Violet, but then Violet being before Pink also doesn't quite work for me either. Violet breaks the heist drama significantly, and I've never loved having what is essentially a filler episode right before or during the climax of the plot.

I completely agree with you. I might swap Blue and Green so the two years earlier episodes aren’t right next to each other.

To me starting with Yellow and Red would be the best to introduce everyone then provide a just a taste of stakes without spoiling anything major. The middle four are pretty flexible to my opinion but I like the idea of jumping forward and back in the timeline. Then Pink and White have to be the last two.

Oh, I like it. Plus, a gap between Red (teasing the heist) and Blue (which ramps up the heist) by putting Green in the middle (which doesn't completely break the flow, as it technically introduces a lot of the characters anyway) would work well.
