The semifinals begin in L.A., where the competing ninjas will face up to 10 challenging obstacles, including, for the first time, Kaleidoscope, Ghost Town and Spin Zone. The two fastest ninjas will face off on the Power Tower for a Safety Pass going into the National Finals.

They are definitely paying more attention to the editing this year.  The "something for everyone" focus continues, complete with spunky teens, quirky characters, dauntless women, and fan favorites.

The semifinals course was challenging.  I liked the new split decision, but I did wonder how tall you have to be to navigate it successfully.  The googly-eyed ghosts were kind of awesome in a slightly disturbing way.

By far, for me, the highlights of the show were Flip and Najee making it through.  I was happy for Rachel Degutz, too, but I'm not as familiar with the other women.  I felt badly for Joe Moravsky for falling, but he has had a really charmed life on this show, so not terribly.  Also, the focus on the young woman (Paige?) who fell felt borderline exploitative to me.

My interest plunged with the Power Tower.   (It didn't help that I was rooting for the kid who didn't win).  I just can't get excited about an affluent teen whose story arc is focused where he is going to get to go to college.  I'm happy that he gets to go, but it was a bit meh.

I'm definitely multi-tasking while I watch this show these days.

I've got some impressions, but I am going to wait until I've seen additional semifinals.

Somewhat strangely I found myself nodding off just as the ads were starting several times.  It might have been during the interviews after a run had ended. Then I'd wake up during the wwwa and would do a short back up.

Not every body or age will compete equally with gymnastics.

What stuck out for me in this episode was how methodical Flip was during his run.  When he was younger, Flip mainly concentrated on speed.  I think missing the buzzer in his first episode may have caused a shift in thinking,  I'm sure he would have like the power card but he wanted to make sure he got to Vegas more.

I wish Joe Morovsky had done the same thing.
