S1,E6: Sunday Dinner

The first segment of the episode was not only painfully unfunny, it was just painful to watch. 
But the scene at the end of the episode (with the cake recipe) was the best so far.

I enjoyed this somewhat more than previous episodes, though it’s still needs time to find itself.  I’m glad the daughter dumped her older married boss. Jean admitting she didn’t like Celia was surprising and a bit of a downer, though she seemed to warm to her after Freddie proposed. But I do think Celia is high maintenance and kind of vapid. Jean seems like a really clingy mom

On the surface, Celia seems shallow, but Jean knows her enough by now to realise she's a caring person underneath. The fact that Jean is welcoming to the older guy just hammers the fact she's annoyingly obsessed with Freddie.
