I think I have been a very generous camel so far, but this was the episode that finally broke my back. This show could've been soo good - I enjoy the acting, the setting and some of the more adventurous tweaks - but the storytelling is atrocious. This week it was like an episode of (Netflix's) She-Ra with a guest appearance by the Weasley car.

i'm loving this so far, I admit. Pratchett fan since the 90s, have read the series at least 6-7 times. i read hogfather every year at hogswatch and reread some favorites regularly like small gods and the witch books.

i'm happy to see another vision of discworld, especially one that strays so far from what most folks think ankh-morpork looks like, yet remains so close to the spirit of the book. like twoflower in the color of money.

really looking forward to bingeing this once it ends.

I have to admit, at the start I was going, "Wait, did I miss an episode?" because it didn't seem to follow from the previous one. But no, it was just poor storytelling (a lack of Narrativium, perhaps?). I assume Cheery's flask contains Klatchian coffee (it makes you knurd), but Sam is meant to be naturally slightly knurd anyway and has to drink just to be normal. Well, in the books at any rate.

Did think the nightmares were pretty harrowing (did teen Angua eat her best friend?), even Cheery's (which could have just looked silly). So I guess Sam is the saviour that Ankh Morpolk needs, not the one it wants?

But overall, a fairly blah episode.

ETA: OK, to give credit where it's due - I did like the scene where the couple complain about their scheduled robbery not happening, because that felt like it was right out of the books despite it never (to my recollection) ever happening "on page".

"my advice would be to look where you're going when you montage" definitely words to live by!

I found it highly amusing when they used Crockett's Theme from the Miami Vice series as the 'heroic music' for the montage of Vimes in the sand and the way it all fell apart when he fell down the dunes.
