Trini January 31, 2020 Author Share January 31, 2020 Didn't they use "orgasm" a few episodes ago with that patient that had to have part of her gentalia removed (along with a tumor)? I think the reason, for this episode in particular, was for the characters to sidestep HR rules. 3 Link to comment
Emma9 January 31, 2020 Share January 31, 2020 Yeah, they needed to give a little more depth to the cancer couple, whether the wife was concerned about the practicalities of the situation or whether, like Shaun, she found her husband's idea of happiness 'too loud'. On the one hand, that sounds like a cruel concept, but the thought of spending six months watching or participating in crazy activities that A) she doesn't enjoy and B) could kill her husband instantly, taking away even the little time they do have, wouldn't be easy either, not to mention if she's sad because of her soon-to-be widowhood, she either has to suppress it or feel like a killjoy. I could also see how it would be startling if she spent most of their life thinking her husband was also a 'quiet happiness' person and enjoyed the kind of life they had, only to find out he considered the post-diagnosis thrill-seeker to be the 'real him' who he'd been forced to hide all that time. And the look on Reznick's face made it seem like that was what she heard, to me. 6 Link to comment

She could soak up time with him but he wanted to spend the time his way, not hers. When you think about it, she was selfish too. He only had six months to live, but she wasn't willing to live his way for that time? Six months is practically a blink of an eye when you get older. 3 Link to comment

What a drip she is. I liked her at first and tried to keep liking her but now I just... don't. She wasn't interesting to me even with all the "parade" talk. I know the "parade" talk wasn't showcasing her, it was about his colleagues giving advice and having some fun with it, but at that point I couldn't have cared less if that sour, dour woman had a "parade" or not. It's like the whole story has simply run its course, and she can leave any time now. When she smiled at the end (looking to me like she waited to smile), all I could think was: "Yep, that's right, Carly - make sure Shaun never sees you smile. You can't have him thinking you're happy for once". 3 Link to comment
