ElectricBoogaloo January 15, 2020 Share January 15, 2020 Quote It's the first-ever nationally recognized Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Paul is speaking at the school assembly about his personal experiences with him. Johan and Santamonica think Paul is going to embarrass them; being ashamed of her father had never occurred to Rainbow, so they decide to ditch. Meanwhile, Alicia thought she had convinced Harrison to take pro bono civil rights cases on MLK Day to honor him, but he plans to go golfing instead, so Denise steps in to help. ElectricBoogaloo January 22, 2020 Author Share January 22, 2020 Awww, Rainbow is finally at the age where she understands being embarrassed by her dad. I know it's normal, but it's sad to see since she clearly adores him. I'm glad that she ended up being proud of him after his speech but she is definitely on the cusp of that teenage "GO AWAY!" phase of life with her parents. Ha, of course Paul has formal puka shells for fancy occasions. 6 Link to comment
LBS January 22, 2020 Share January 22, 2020 I thought it was a very thoughtful episode. I also never realized that I want a buddy movie featuring Harrison and Denise until the last couple of episodes! 7 Link to comment
tennisgurl January 24, 2020 Share January 24, 2020 Bow has officially discovered the "OMG GO AWAY DAD" phase of development! Although, isnt a bunch of kids of various races skipping school together to hang out at an arcade what MLK Day is all about?! The plot with Paul was really good, I really like how it all played out, with him realizing that he was downplaying the harder and more tragic parts of the civil rights movement for his kids and that had affected his speech, and giving a really moving speech that actually was about tragedy and triumph. Denise and Harrison are so hilarious together, I love how they seem to be complete opposites but actually have tons in common personality wise. 7 Link to comment
