Sam is not a natural leader. He's not doing it by choice but beause no one else wanted the job. He's a natural teacher so why can't they just let him do that - teach the potentials about monsters and hunting and let Bobby lead. If we'd seen Sam chose to step up and lead then it would probably feel more organic than the fact that he was the only one left and got lumbered with it.
Dean's in no state to take over and lead but give him something to do. Let him train Jack now Bobby's off playing house with Mary.
When John and Bobby died there was years between the deaths and there time to process and keep going. They lost both Mary and Cas in the space of a few minutes. Cas has died before but he'd always came back but the difference this time was there was a body and burnt wings and that made it more final.
Why hand over the only weapon that can possibly kill you to a guy who, at best, is a little mentally unstable at the moment and then stand close enough that he can hit you with it? Why not stand as far back as possible? Because ..... reasons?
I couldn't work out how much time had passed between the last ep and this. One minute they're at the bunker then they're gone again. Why?
Dean taking out the nest to "take the edge off" sorta came out of nowhere after showing that he'd been doing ok with it so far.
He has to be suspicious. With what happened in the house and then there have been times in the past few eps where he's walked in to a room whilst Sam's been on the phone to Cas and Sam has either changed the subject quickly or pretended it's a wrong number and you can see Dean noticing but not commenting on it. He looked really suspicious when they found the book when they got the box/safe open.
Killing Cain should have a greater effect on the mark than killing Abaddon and I don't think Dean would have anywhere near enough demon juice left to control that.
And I really don't want Cain to be dead.
I think using the jedi trick taps into the power of the mark and won't help him keep control. If he gives in to that, even a little, he thinks he won't be able to stop himself.
This is what annoyed me most. Sam's just seen Dean lose it with Metatron and instead of watching Dean he lets him go off on his own to meet Claire. Why?? He could have at least gone with him and stayed in the car.
If Sam and Cas don't want to watch over Dean then go get Kevin (Can't remember - is Heaven still closed?) He can be Dean's Jiminy Crickett
