  1. Awesome episode! I can't remember being so invested in a verdict before. That said, I totally disagree with the judge sending him to prison for 7 years. He is a kid, no prior history and while the taunting and harassment was bad, the fall was totally accidental and unmeditated. He didn't go in looking to physically harm Avery, as inexcusable as the harassment was. Also; As some have brought up already there is the whole "make an example" aspect." I am no legal expert, but How can they actually say that and go on to take the kid to court? Wouldn't that be seen as prejudicial? Smacks a bit of railroading or something like it? We have seen the SVU team come under fire for doing things seen as prejudicial or biased, right? Saying you want to make an example of the defendant implies to me the cards are stacked against the defendant.

  2. Wonder why they didn't get a babysitter for Roland and Little Neal.

Right? Some top notch parenting there....

Loved they started in Minneapolis! Grew up there and went to high school downtown not far from the theatre she was at!

A strong start which makes me excited for this season. I especially loved the ending. Felt like a horror movie.

  3. Great episode! Hilarious and thought provoking. Especially liked Pops and Ruby being all "I don't say it" followed by them saying it. Loved Dre's coworkers, especially Charlies 0-10 reaction of pulling a gun out at the word "colored." Just the extremeness got me.

I couldn't help but think back to 10th grade English class, when my (black)English teacher had a hard time getting anyone in my class, made up of a variety of racial backgrounds, to read Huck Finn aloud in class because of the N-word. People just kept stopping at or skipping parts. He eventually had to basically say "it's okay, it's in the book." He wanted us to fully understand it and what the use of the word meant for the book and the time period it came from.

  4. The main reason I want them to bring FF to the MCU is

so the Silver Surfer can be brought into the Infinity War against Thanos.

I consider anything else to be a bonus.

That would be cool. They do well with the galactic side of Marvel (Asgard in Thor and Guardians). I could see a great film, maybe even a Guardians crossover, where they battle

    Galactus or the Skrulls.

  5. Fox pulled the earlier films from all the streaming services as this one was getting ready to release.

Huh, interesting. Why would they do that? What if people wanted to watch them before the new one. I sometimes do that that with the MCU movies... Maybe once the new one has its home release, which probably won't be too long from know as I can't see the theatrical run being long.

As it was, I thought the movie showed promise at the beginning, but fell apart with the leap forward to a year later and disintegrated at the end with the horrendous reveal of Doom and the battle at the end. One of the most important things an origin story does is to explain and show the powers and their development. We get a short little expository speech that fails to do this. What were the initial reactions to the powers and Reed running away? This is major character stuff. Even the suits I was left with questions... Do they need it to control their powers or does it just help? Would Johnny just keep burning without it? Why not make Ben one so he could maybe shift from human to thing. "Thing-out" as it were.

Doom on the other hand was ridiculous. He and the final battle felt rushed and perfunctory.

Marvel could do right by the FF if they were brought into the MCU. Follow Sony's lead, Fox. You can find other franchises you know what to do with.

  6. I'm personally just tired of female characters in these movies not getting a chance not be judged to death. Every time i watch these movies, it never even crosses my mind even once, the problems others end up having with them. Hope is a strong, smart woman who doesn't need anyone help to defend herself. It's great.

What actual purpose would she serve suited up in the final act? Her arc in this movie was between her and her father. That was the bridge they decided to cross before she became a hero. But, this is Ant Man. Let him have his hero journey on his own. All of these great female characters in the MCU and it's always overshadowed because their name isn't in a title yet or they are not always in the foreground. I enjoy watching these characters. There is almost always enough going on for me to enjoy from everyone.

We had a straight up one on one fight in the finale. Adding another person to the party seems pointless. These movies are continued narratives. Not every story beat needs to be covered in one installment. I would have felt the same way if they through war machine in Iron Man 1. I still feel that Robin is pointless in Batman Forever. He entered into a fight he didn't add much to and could have been introduced later. Hank needed to see Scott finish the journey in this film before he could fully be on board with her entering the fight. It makes complete sense. Yes, she's a grown woman but she's still his daughter. He didn't want anyone to use the suit anymore but knowing all the risks, he damn sure didn't want his daughter to do it. He was just as worried about Corey's character getting involved in this.

At the end of the day, I just see characters. When I'm watching Hope, I'm not thinking about how she is being treated as a female character. Is she being short changed as a female character. I just don't care. I just want good characters. Hope was a great character. Scott and Hank were great too. So, I'm happy. I wish Scott would have gotten more beats in his arc to help us connect better with his desire to be a better man and father. But, I bought into what we did see.

That's just how I look at these things. No judgment on anyone else.

Word! Not that women being underrepresented is not an issue, since it is, but Marvel is doing a lot better then others on this front. Throughout the MCU you see strong women in multiple roles, from supportive girlfriend to helping found SHIELD to Avenger. One of my favorite characters of the entire MCU is Peggy. While it would be awesome to have some headliners the lack of that doesn't mean we don't have good roles for women. And frankly, whenever ANY(which is what it feels like sometimes) female role is picked apart and bashed for any fault found, what incentive is their for females to be featured? Why would they make a Black Widow movie when they get criticized, even death threats I heard, over her in Age of Ultron? When saying she is unable to have kids and is upset over being made into basically a killing machine is called sexist?

Sorry for the rant, the topic just hits a nerve for me.

  7. Really enjoyed the movie. Funny and action packed. Enjoyed seeing what they did with the size and perspectives of it all. Loved how something at the ant-level would look so epic, such as the toy train crashing, but then they cut to normal proportions  and it barely registers.

They did a good job of showing just what the hero the size of an ant could do and how formidable they could be.

The biggest geek out moment for me was when Scott is heading to the Avengers compound and Pym is all "abort!" Then you see the flash of Falcon before he come in... It was a great sense of "it is going down."

  8. Really, Sheldon? As a comic book collector and wearer of The Flash t-shirt on regular basis, he is just thinking of watching The Flash now? Now that the season is almost over?

Right? I thought the same when Raj mentioned trying to go to see the new Avengers film with Emily, like he would not be anticipating it highly and be there opening night, possibly as a group with the guys. I can't see any of the guys treating it as just another night at the movies like he does there.

That said, I thought this was a depressing way to end the season. This is a COMEDY, not some drama. I loved Mayim's acting in the video chat and Jim's reaction, but come on! I should be left with a laugh, not relationship drama. It becomes Friends where it became all soap-opera drama in the later seasons that way.

  9. The Iron Man and Thor movies don't seem to have fed anything into this movie either, except for Pepper and Jane name checking.

I disagree. In Iron Man 3, we see Tony developing the Iron Legion, playing into the global defense robots and AI Ultron comes from. As for Thor's vision, could it mean trouble in Asgard from Loki ruling as Odin? Thor's was the hardest vision to understand for me, but I took it as trouble and doom for Asgard, which could have come from Thor staying on earth at the end of Dark World. Also; the aether is in play in Dark World and they connect the dots with the infinity stones here.

That said, I really enjoyed the film. I thought Ultron was a much better villain then Loki, definitely more threatening. I think the biggest surprise was Quicksilver's death. I think that, Vision holding Mjolnir and Thanos got the biggest reactions from the audience.

Also "Language!" lol Captain America can sure be adorkable.

Lastly; loved the end credits of close-ups of a statue with the whole thing shown at the end.s

  10. I liked seeing the original team back, and liked all the doubts about Ward. I also loved Skye's Sonic quip about Raina.

Found it interesting Cal said to watch out for her. Wasn't her end game getting transformed? What could she be up to? BTW; was anyone else, after learning she had psychic powers, expecting a scene like the one we got where she foresaw the events of the upcoming film? As soon as that was revealed I figured the last episode before Age of Ultron would be something like her having a vision and being all "trouble ahead." As it is, I liked that and when Coulson and Hill were talking about calling in the Avengers.

That said: Less then 48 hours to go! OMG OMG OMG I am SOOOO excited!!! Is is Thursday yet? SQUEEEE (end geek out)

  11. After seeing multiple people talking about how mean and troublesome dalmatians are, I have to say, as someone who grew up with a dalmatian as the family dog and now has a dalmatian/dachshund mix(she is actually in my profile pic), I just have to say that they are not that bad. While they can be high energy, and deafness(which can make a dog fearful and on edge and cause violent reactions) has a high prevalence in the breed, with good training and exercise they can be great family pets. Just saying... :)

That said, apart from the Emma ending (only in this show would someone killing someone holding their kid at gunpoint, by a cliff no less, be a sign of going dark), I liked this episode. I thought the Cruella back-story was intriguing and the reveal she was the killer was awesome. I actually liked her and the author together. Sad she's gone, but hopefully she will be back in flashbacks....

Also; loved Regina and Hook trying to talk to Emma about her parents. I could actually agree with what all three were saying. Loved Emma's snark about Regina's vendetta against a 10 year old's mistake.

  12. Possible Age of Ultron end credits scene leaked. Even though it has been reported there won't be one, the article actually includes video of what is reported to be at the end of the credits. http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/04/20/avengers-age-of-ultron-may-have-an-amazing-post-credits-scene/

    If true, it is awesome!

You see someone window-washing a tower in NYC. As the grime gets cleared away, it reveals Spiderman, who shouts he missed a spot.

  13. How long did it take to rebuild the area where the towers fell?

Given the sheer magnitude of damage the Chitauri did -- how does one clean up alien bodies and gigantic, armored space snakes much less the building wreckage underneath -- I can see how, perhaps, some neighborhoods got more attention than others. Hell's Kitchen seems to be a place where a criminal element came in and are probably doing certain things to curtail improvement.

That is a good point. I had forgotten how long it took for just that area to be rebuilt. Funny you mention the WTC attack, because I kinda see the end battle of Avengers as a kind of 9/11 for the MCU.

  14. As someone who does not know anything about the character, I thought this was a great introduction to Daredevil. I was able to understand who this guy is and what kind of world he exists in.

I liked that they tied into the Avengers and how "the incident" has impacted NYC nearly 3 years out. It kinda shows what happens after the credits roll on the big superhero blockbuster. Life won't just go back to normal. Stuff needs to be rebuilt and people are going to take advantage of that opportunity. I liked the villian talking about how when superheros and their like show up, they make money. While it is kind of questionable that such a big, important city like NYC would still be heavily rebuilding (wouldn't it have gone faster, gotten a lot of assistance and be made more of a priority to get the city back to normal?) three years out, it would have seemed weird to hear nothing about it and it fits people would still be talking about it.

ETA; Love the opening credits. Fits perfectly with the mood of the show.

  15. All I could keep thinking was "why is nobody questioning why someone so hesitant and fearful of reprisal would go public within such a short time?" All they are hearing is that "she doesn't want to come forward" and then she pops up at a campus rally?

I wish that idiot professor and (to a lesser extent as she seemed goaded into it by the professor)Heather would have faced some legal reprisal and had been made examples of. I know it is a TV show, but they basically ruined those guys reputations to make a point. Stuff like that just puts undue doubt on actual victims and makes it harder to bring real rapists to justice.
