  1. That was hard to watch, but I'm glad they are doing it now so the finale can hopefully leave them in a better place, rather then seeing them get the sucker-punch of his death and then roll credits. I also like they will show the family coming to grips with his death, as opposed to there simply being a voice-over saying he died, which would feel a trite ending for someone we've come to appreciate over 7 seasons.

I'm kind of hoping they have adult Sheldon reflecting on everyone's reactions. We saw how he and Georgie viewed that time differently when we saw him on TBBT, and I would like to see more of that reflection. It rings true to my personal experience of losing my mom to cancer. I've always felt lucky, for lack of a better term, it wasn't a sudden death, but now, a decade after, I have come to realize it was to my younger sister and dad, that they didn't really let themselves acknowledge losing her was a possibility. I don't know why, maybe because I can have a more cynical, logical outlook and tend to worry about the worst possibilities(thanks OCD), maybe it came from my mom's outlook(she was kind of "positive vibes only" about the situation and I don't think she really accepted it was a possibility until the very end), but it hit home people who are in the same situation can view it differently. I think seeing adult Sheldon reflecting on the event knowing what he knows now and with greater emotional intelligence, could be a touching and a poignant way to frame the series ending in a "looking back at my childhood with what I know now" kind of way.

I will end by saying I loved seeing Mary in her "no-nonsense/able to handle Sheldon" mode we saw on TBBT when she told him to get back to the dinner table. I also laughed at the comment Sheldon will change the world or destroy us all.

  2. I don't know, while it focused on his being awful to work for, it did portray him as crossing the line with kids and those jokes he made them perform, and they definitely seemed to imply a predatorial side to his relationship with Amanda Bynes. I can see someone coming away with the thought he was doing more then bad jokes and being a bad boss. That being said, he's splitting hairs and definitely taking the wrong message away from the show. Also; if you don't want to be painted as a predator, don't be creepy with your staff and make gross jokes for kids to perform.

I wish I could explain it, but for some reason I don't like Vanessa Kirby. I think maybe because, imo, she looks like a mean girl (for lack of a better explanation). I was disappointed that she was back in the latest Mission Impossible movie and, as a Marvel fan, even more so when I heard she was cast in Fantastic Four. It's not bad enough for me to not see a movie she's in, but she does rub me the wrong way.

I see what you mean about her looking like a mean girl. I've only seen her playing Princess Margaret in the Crown and in that it works, as she plays a petulant party princess well.

No, they're saying it's "because the judge allowed the jury to hear and consider evidence which was inadmissible"  Everyone is entitled to due process.

They’re basically saying the testimony of all those women was inadmissible, even though it showed a pattern of behavior. Feels like bs to me.

Yeah, I'm blaming the judge and prosecutors for this one. They should have known if allowing women to testify about unrelated charges/cases would be considered swaying the jury or prejudicial information, if those are the right terms. Information presented has to be relevant to the case and unfortunately it seems they allowed information that wasn't. From my reading, it sounds like they didn't meet the standard for admissible evidence of prior bad acts, which the prosecutors and the judge should have known and addressed at trial.

At least this isn't like Cosby and he isn't free. His LA convictions stand, and his career and life as he knew it is over.

They were both possessive of each other and their relationship could be toxic at times but I still have a soft spot for their early season relationship. It's what got me into the show when I first started watching. Plus they both act the hell out of it.

I get that, and they are good together in their early years, the first time they date. I guess for me all the stuff that goes down between them retroactively tarnishes that for me, which is a shame.

Watching early season 2 where Rachel is pining for Ross and I really enjoy that side of her lol. Other than being unnecessarily rude to Julie, she comes across endearing and it gives Aniston a chance to flex her comedic chops.

I have to disagree. Anniston is a great actress, and it's great when she gets to be comedic, but I just can't stand Rachel and how possessive she is of Ross there. It is the beginning of how toxic they are together as a couple for me. Both are possessive of each other and will sabotage the others relationship so they can be with them. Look at Ross when he thinks Mark wants to be with Rachel and Rachel getting Bonnie to shave her head so Ross will break up with her and going to London to tell Ross she loved him when he was getting married. Ross is in love with the idea of Rachel he's had since high school/college and Rachel seems to only really want him when she sees Ross in a happy relationship. Ross gets a lot of hate, but it irritates me when Rachel gets off scotch free. In my eyes they are good people but are horrible together and bring out the worst in each other.

  7. I assume he went in the chicken coop for privacy? Either way, don't blame him for not wanting to use the porta potty. Also, what happened to George in the last scene would be one of my biggest nightmares.

Georgie certainly has stepped up, and I especially loved seeing him read to Cece. I'm glad his father-in-law is on his side. His mother-in-law is a piece of work. I can see not being happy about the situation, but he's working hard to prove himself, give the guy a chance.

American Crime Story: The People Vs OJ Simpson: The douchebag cashier joking about how the prosecution was “in for a hell of a week” after he rings up a tampon box for Marcia.

Supposedly that really happened. And if so, I applaud Marcia for not chucking the box right in his stupid face. And FYI, you shouldn’t assume it’s that time of the month just because a person is buying tampons!!!!

The sexism she faced during that trial was ridiculous. I read a book "90"s (B-word)" a while back and one of the parts talked about her experience during that trial and it left me with the impression that sexism played a role in helping OJ get off.

One thing to wear your tin foil hat a home - another to go out in the word and confront people face to face.

But how else will others know how much smarter and better you are then them? (End Sarcasm)

Joking aside, I do think it comes from a place of wanting people to know how "right" you are.

Jones did it for money. What did his minions get out of it? That's nightmarish to think about.

They did it because they wanted to be "right" and feel like they knew better then all the "dupes." I think a lot of conspiracy theories feed on the fact that people like feeling like they have "inside knowledge" others don't have. They like feeling "in the know."

Honestly, as abhorrent and crazy as I find most conspiracy theories, the psychological and social roots and influences behind them are fascinating to me.

There was a woman on the news, who sounded like she was in love with him, talking about “what he went through in California.” What he went through? I don’t understand it.

Wow! Thoughtless words even if he was innocent. Going through a trial is nothing compared to what the victims or their families went through.

Nicole and Ron really got lost in all the hoopla didn’t they?

Things could have been a lot different if they used that defense instead of starting a bullshit conspiracy theory that divided the country and turned that whole trial into a circus.

Did we even know about TBI and the consequences to football players back then? I feel like that understanding has come around fairly recently.

  13. I feel bad for his family.

As for the murders, he so obviously did it, and it's a prime example of a rich famous person using money and fame to get them out of trouble, but, knowing what we know now I wonder how much brain injury from football played into his violent and erratic behavior. I am assuming if the murders and trial happened now, that would be a big part of the defense.

  14. Almost 30 min in and I don’t think I’ve hated someone as much as I hate Alex Jones right now ever in my life. The way he attacked those poor families and caused them even more pain at the most painful time in their lives makes me feel he is worthy of the title of one of the worst people in the US today.

Please note that if you have even mild arachnophobia, there is some high octane nightmare fuel in that short film.

Honest question; why would someone with arachnophobia watch a film with a character called Spider-Man? It seems like you would only have yourself to blame...

They should have spent more time on the society and their magic. The world building seemed pointless if they were going to spend so much time on the love triangle at the internet company.

That makes the decision of seeing it or not for me then. I was intrigued by the premise, but turned off by the focus on the love story in the trailer.

Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia was a really good read, it combined a lot of things that I am fascinated by (mysticism, old cinema, cursed films) and both of the leads were flawed but likable. Mexican Gothic is still my favorite book by her though.

Reading it and enjoying so far! I enjoy reading and watching stuff about Hollywood's golden age, Sunset Boulevard is one of my all time favorite films, so it's cool to learn about the history of Mexican cinema, which I know nothing about.

However, in this series we are now hearing/watching the recollections of an even older Sheldon, perhaps one that has had opportunity to have had honest conversations with his mother that he never would have had as an unmarried man...

    Sheldon is retconning himself!

Is is retconning though, to gain new/more complete understanding of situations? I think we all have that experience of seeing how we saw something as children was incorrect or not the complete picture once we're an adult.

I really enjoyed Sheldon and his friends with their unintentional AI program. It seemed like it could have been a storyline from TBBT.

Probably a Donner fanboy.  Unfortunately, there are many who are simply unable to part ways with those films.

While the films have their issues, I would argue the Donner films gave us the most accurate live-action portrayal of Superman to date. Christopher Reeves' Superman/Clark Kent portrays him in a way that is both tough but also kind and earnest. The single biggest disservice DC and Snyder have done to Superman is to try to make him dark and gritty. Superman is not dark and gritty. He's a symbol of hope. I hope Gunn takes a lesson from Marvel and Chris Evans Steve Rogers/Captain America on how to do a big earnest boy scout right. I see Captain America as the Marvel version of Superman; big kind tough men fighting for "truth justice and the American way." Marvel found a way to make him relevant to current day, while DC just made him Batman, because the Dark Knight was so well received, not considering they are different characters.
