Married by Christmas. I just watched that movie last week. I loved it. If anything made that movie not family friendly it’s the fact the lead’s family was awful to her. I’d much rather have the gay guy in my family then her selfish sister.

Out of curiosity does It’s a Wonderful Movie ever actually review any movies? Every time I end up there it says the review and recommendation are coming soon. Snow Bride...coming soon. Trading Christmas...coming soon.

Do they even watch the movies or just keep track of the schedule and collect ad revenue?

Yes, her sister was a bitch. Wasn't even interested in the family company until she heard about that marriage stipulation and decided to take it away from her sister.

I don't visit the site anymore. Stopped visiting it when I noticed how hateful they were to gays and dismissive of POC. However they used to do reviews but then stopped doing them. Like you said they mostly just keep track of the schedule, collect ad revenue, and collect revenue from affiliate links.

Then again, when Itsawonderfulmovie, the leading page for Hallmark (and other networks) Christmas movies, news and stuff, is openly warning its readers whenever a gay couple or anything considered untoward appears in a movie, one can't really be surprised with such pseudo-controversies.

A couple of years ago UP had a movie where the girl was trying so hard to form a relationship with a guy with the intent of getting married so she could take over her family's company. Well the guy revealed he wasn't that into her because he was gay. The folks at ItsaWonderfulMovie threw a fit saying the movie wasn't family friendly. The way they ranted you would've thought the movie had a gay love scene.

  3. UP will be doing movies every day starting in January. I noticed they picked up alot of the movies that aired on Pixl as well as some filmed for Pixl that never released and they'll be having premieres on Sundays.

This is also the final straw for me with Hallmark. I’ve stopped DVRing the new movies and will stick to Lifetime, UP and ION for my holiday movie fix. I’m glad that some stars are speaking up because having this much outcry over one commercial is ridiculous. There are half clothed women in some commercials but that’s okay for the kids to watch? Blah.

I don't understand the conservatives rational about the children to begin with because these romance movies are too damn boring for children to watch. The kids see more action on the channel catering to them! I really haven't watch Hallmark closely in a few years so this is no loss to me. I've mainly been tuning in to Lifetime, UP, and ION for Christmas movies.

It sounds like it.  The brand has been thriving until this latest push to try and destroy what they've built.  Guaranteed they will lose their audience if they bow to pressure.

They're losing viewers either way. Conservatives are not the only ones watching Hallmark at Christmastime.

This movie is SOOOOOO bad. Down there with the Kellie Pickler movies bad. Even outside of the handling of the Jewish character, which is bad, it's bad on its own. I'm not sure I can make it through the whole thing. Unfortunate since the lead guy is very cute. Guess I'm a bad Jew for not being familiar with any of these Jewish actors before now.

He's from South of Nowhere and General Hospital. The acting was too cartoonish from the beginning for me. And the way they were acting like this guy who lives in NYC never experienced Christmas was ridiculous. Especially when he was practically drooling over being in a hardware store. I was in NYC this past weekend and there's plenty of Christmas spirit there. And then saying he didnt know the words to Deck the Halls because he's  Jewish. Since when does being Jewish stop you from hearing a song played internationally every year?

  7. Oh no this is one of those Christmas movies where we act like Jewish people in America have never experienced Christmas before. I'm sure an actor living in the city has experienced his fair share of Christmases

I spy a alove and Hip Hop NY ad on Hallmark. The most black people I've ever seen on this channel at once.

Merry Liddle Christmas. Oh what an annoying liddle movie! Everything was so contrived and predictable, which made me very stabby.

Her family annoyed me so much. Nkt even sure who my least favorite was. Probably her mom who was old enough to know everything needes to be a certain way for the magazine shoot but was too busy forcing her daughter adapt her traditions instead of create her own.

I’m in the middle of it right now. I almost gave up on it in the beginning but I do think it’s getting better. I think she was struggling with her American accent through the first few scenes. I don’t know if it’s better later or if I just stopped noticing. I don’t understand Hallmark insistence that all the female lead characters be American.

Because people outside the US celebrating Christmas is too diverse for Hallmark.

Ryan Paevey can't act worth a damn so his movies are automatic skip for me. Plus the only Christmas at the Plaza type movie I want to watch is Eloise at Christmastime.

Hallmark claiming diversity is would be amusing if it weren't so blatantly offensive.  I find nothing "feel good" about the movies because they are so insipid, bland, and stupid, recycling the same tired plots over and over.  Their "evidence" for not catering to a lily white population by having a couple of people of color in minor roles is insulting and indefensible.  This is a country with the most diverse population in the world. Time to act like it.

Even with the movies with black character leads they don't feel like black characters to me. There's a noticeable absence of black culture. On top of that majority of the actors they use are half white but that's a whole other fight.

Unfortunately I’m not surprised. Last Christmas I was hopeful Hallmark was serious about increasing diversity but the last year has proven that they have zero interest in hiring minorities and being more representative. At this point it is so bad that it’s has to be deliberate.

Whenever I see the issue come up on Hallmark Channel’s Facebook the official response in laughable. They are catering to the close minded people who freak out about seeing anything that isn’t white, heteronormative and Christian.

    Yep!

Just caught up with A Christmas Miracle off the DVR. I know there was a fair amount of discussion here because the leads are some of the few minority Hallmark leads this season.

I thought the male lead may have been Hispanic seeing him on the ads, but watching the whole movie he is Black or maybe Caribbean island. Tamera being pregnant wasn't a big issue, they dressed her so that she looked normal size (for non movie stars) and she blended in.

The race thing didn't add or take anything away from the story. The distraction was the son--why was he sleeping on the couch?

The bitch boss trope character was easy to hate, which made the mild work struggle plot driver more interesting than it would have been otherwise.

So, my point, race had no effect on the movie. They literally could have plugged any lead from the Hallmark stable into the movie. Which is probably the way it should be for Countdown to Christmas.

Tamera was not pregnant she actually announced early this year she's done having kids
