Still love Fuller! Still cannot stand the Voltaggio Bros! -
S16.E12: There’s Snow Business like Sew Business

Perhaps Kentaro was baffled by Kenya's play-acting when SHE, NOT the rest of them, knew she was safe. Maybe Kentaro is not that familiar with "Gotcha!" humor. Is it Thursday yet?! -
S16.E12: There’s Snow Business like Sew Business
LennieBriscoe replied to Drogo's topic in Project Runway
Mood sells fur and leather because it is a fabric store! In NYC! I didn't care much for any of tonight's offerings. Brandon Yada Yada. Kentaro's was beautiful fabric and color but too much! Ayana's jumpsuit was meh. Kenya's huge plaid was fat-making. But not nearly as much as Margarita's hideous Faux Sasquatch dress. Margarita will not move on because she had to be "saved," and her taste level seems to have plummeted. Kenya will not move on because Heidi hates crying, never mind that Kenya was, as TG said, the show's "bridesmaid." I'd add more, but nobody here has indicated they saw the Tim visits that I did. Remember when the last outfit on the Finale Runway was always a gown or other up-scale design? Brandon cannot deal. Ayana can, as can Kentaro. So that is my order of finish, in reverse. -

Okay, I'm confused. When did it become the SOP to have running commentary here in Real Time? I thought posting began after the show ended, EST. Anyway, who didn't see the Finale 5 for the Collections coming? I saw a later show with Tim visiting Ayana and then Kenya to check and comment on their collections. Anyone else see this mini-episode? -
Genius.

Top Chef Junior - General Discussion

Once upon a time existed a kids' cooking show that eliminated no-one, but rather awarded points throughout the season. I liked that system. But for now, I'm rooting for Secret Special Sauce Fuller! (According to ew.com, "Fuller has overcome cancer on three different times and is currently in complete remission.") -
There is no "hate" for Margarita. If the word has been used, it's in the same superficial Reality TV show way that people "love" another, perhaps like Kentaro, or Swatch, or Dmitry of seasons past. We CAN, however, dislike, even immensely, what we have seen of a person. And another thing: Heidi and her ridiculous comment about how "showing skin empowers a woman" (as she was amazed at non-skin-showing Ayana's non-skin-showing creation) made me want to slap her silly. Finally, Brandon. For a challenge about "Warrior Women" that is explicitly modeled on breast cancer survivors, he decides, "Hey, I know! I'll go with the androgynous look!" And wins. Go figure. Or maybe we already have.

Hahahaha! ? Wait! ? Delete, delete, delete! ? Tim used his SAVE?! I missed that! ? OFGS. BIG mistake, Tim. ? If they Auf Kentaro before Srta. Quinceanera, I'll be mightily miffed!
-
Raise your hand if you think Claire and Shawn were misrepresented. ? Tim isn't bringing Michael the Runway Drama Prince back. Taking bets! Zac Posen and the models? I'm pretty sure he is strictly business.
-
Blackberry Jam, While it is true that reality competitions have their editing monkeys, I think "PR" strives to show us the truth of a person and/or situation.
-
I thought Kentaro looked.... displeased as he cut away the face tape. Somewhere, there's a ChaCha imagining the most glorious gown of airbags and seat-belt buckles!
-
I would say that some competitors, if not all, were initially chosen for different kinds of diversity: twins; foreign; Muslim; Hispanic; what have you. But I also think that they and the show are to be commended for exemplifying, in what might be considered a superficial realm, not only skills, talent, and artistry; but more importantly, the common humanity of them---and by extension, us. And I'm throwing my chapeau into the Kentaro-Brandon-Ayana ring. ?
-
Liris never impressed me (certainly not as much as she is impressed with herself), but throwing sweet, humorous, tolerant (the mummy wrap was not funny, Michael) Kentaro under the proverbial bus? Bye, Felicia! Michael? If it's any consolation, Margarita will be the next to be Aufed. Mark my words. You got Claire, but you also embarrassed Tim. Happy for Ayana! Nina recognized exactly what Ayana intended: Fire!
-
After Googling, I stand corrected, TwirlyGirly. Yes, the prize money was awarded to Brandon; both he and DC announced this. Why the SHOW did not is a puzzlement.
-
Margarita wasn't merely giving (snarky) opinions on the twins' work; she was shown from the git-go as their antagonist, mocking their speech patterns (Note: We here are not on TV), rolling her eyes in exasperation, inveigling Michael, etc. Ultimately, her behavior will not redound to her favor, regardless of any interim wins before the Finale. Let it be noted: The other winner this episode was Dixie Cup; the company saved $25K!
-
TwirlyGirly, It came from Miss Ruth. That is why her name was bolded. The address to YOU with "But" was to YOUR post that began that way, after quoting me. My point then: "But" precedes a contrary opinion, whereas, as I pointed out, your following comments were in accordance with mine.
-
But Miss Ruth, even though an apron has wide sides when open, the turned-up cuff design element was totally Brandon's vision. TwirlyGirly, There is no "But," as you and I are saying the same thing about what "avant-garde" means, including that "Ayana's look best satisfied the "avant-garde" aspect of the challenge,..."
-
SillyAngel, AWESOME post! I, too, am an "Emotional-American" in exactly the way you described! But don't misunderestimate (tm GWB) Ramon! That Cabana Boy will buy anything for the right price! ;-)
-
The avant-garde aspect of Brandon's design was the huge up-turned "cuffs" at the sides. Zac loved them. Amy's outfit was incomprehensible and dull. I found her wasting time talking with her child "client" to be weird. Battani can't seem to design for anyone but herself; she peaked at her audition. Auf Wiedersehen! Anaya was avant-garde, Shopkins colorful, AND true to her "modesty" vision. She and Kentaro have grown and progressed the most, IMO.

S01.E03: A Quick Tip Tutorial
LennieBriscoe replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in American Beauty Star [V]
Pity us poor peasants who must do BOTH hair and make-up! ? John is the one I want to stay for the hate, haha! Host Adriana Lima is considered a "super-model," so there's that. I think she seems down-to-earth. -
OMG, SuburbanHangSuite, I was just about to post the EXACT same thing about ChaCha, but to my chagrin, I had to go to Episode 1 to retrieve his name!
-
Chippings, Several of us have noted the "ease of replicating" Michael's design for the doll size. And that "ease," even if the design is tweaked, actually is an excellent reason why Anaya should have won, and why the contest parameters were....odd. "Avant-garde" is, or ought to be, incompatible with mass production, and maybe also with the fashion sense of children.
-
NorthstarATL, Michael, not Ayana, won.
-
Amy and Bettani were Aufed for being dull and whacked, respectively. IMO, Ayana should have won. Every judge raved over her pink avant-garde Bo Peep creation. But Michael's sleeker and shinier Disco dress will probably be easier to reproduce in doll-size. As for "The Case of the Mysterious Measuring Tape": Claire? Just no. M&M? In the immortal words of a Manson girl: "Charlie doesn't like a snitch."

Fun personal fact: I live very near the Dixie Cup factories, original and current. The father of one of my best childhood friends was an employee. The original, in Easton/Wilson Borough, PA, was the landmark for the entrance to the then-only highway (Rte 22) from PA to NYC, 90 minutes away. IOW, Dixie Cup has the proximity to the show to be a sponsor. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_cup#Dixie_cups (I also drive past the store of Marla Duran, Season 2, and the (hidden) home of Laura Bennett, Season 3, frequently! The latter is now a competitive archer on the international level! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Bennett )
