Since LOCKSAT knew about Vikram it should be a huge red flag that he quit the AG & went to work for Beckett (you know the one that started the search that Vikram got the hit on) at the NYPD in like 2 days. Just another unexplained Grand Canyon sized plot hole to add to the list I guess.

If they really think pissing their audience off is a good thing then they must consider "For Better or Worse" the best episode they have ever written.

At the end of s4 they had Beckett willingly walk away from her mothers murder. She was drawn back in against her will. From all appearances a year of therapy & Castle's influence had finally broken the chain of her obsession. Now we know it just went into remission. We saw it begin to surface when she went after Simmons but that was resolved so quickly she did not have time for a full blown mania to appear. But at least that was still about moms case. This time it almost seems like obsession just for obsessions sake. So my long winded question is what can they do to convince you that once & for all she has gotten the monkey off her back? Will solving the case & then promising to never ever do it again be enough? Does she need to be in therapy or some kind of addiction program the rest of her life? Does she need to prove it by walking away & leaving LOCKSAT to someone else? Will the fact that Castle has pulled his own shenanigans offset & somehow cure her? Do you even care if they bother to address this at all?

For me it is the way they did it. Beckett is being portrayed as a junkie that tossed her marriage aside because of her addiction. I have no faith that the underlying problems will ever be addressed in any meaningful way. At the end of the day they will catch the bad guy & magically Beckett will be all better (until the next time).

I think this was strictly a business decision. This way they could get rid of Gates & not have to replace her character. This also allowed them to bring in Hayley without expanding the cast.
-
I don't understand why she didn't say the same thing to Castle when she was asking him to come to work with her way back in episode 1.
-
Even the damn computer realized that this kind behavior in a marrige eventually leads to divorce.
-
This should not surprise us. They said they were going to recreate the earlier dynamic & the bullshit of them never talking was a key element of that. As far as people taking sides the storyline would fall apart if they did. Realistically at some point Alexis (Castle's grown ass skotch drinking daughter) should start telling him to get over it & let it go. But in this world she'll encourage him in his pathetic campaign to get Beckett to remember why she loves him so he can "win her back". So my advice is to get ready for a steady diet of interrupted conversations & people gazing sadly at their wedding rings.
-
Yea this was such a heartfelt & touching exchange between supposed best friends. Beckett "I just hope I haven't hurt him too much" Lanie; "Girl please. Castle is a grown ass man & he know you love him very much. I'm sure he's ok."
-
I think the whole obsession & leaving was a just a poorly thought out means to an end. All I think they wanted was the most expedient way to get Castle chasing Beckett again. That's why I don't expect a realistic or satisfying end to the obsession is in her DNA part of the story. I believe they figure if they can recapture the old lightening in a bottle they had in the early days that the majority of the audience will be more than happy to ignore the more serious side of Beckett's issues. If they can pull it off they may be right.

I can see the epic finale now. Beckett shows up at Castle's door: Beckett: "Oh Castle I finally brought LockSat down. All I needed was a third of a season & a few more episodes later down the line of putting my obsession above everything & everybody in my life. I'm finally cured once and for all" Castle as he slams her up against the door: "I knew my cunning plan of following you around would work."
-
I really hope so. If we are supposed to sympathize with her then they are even more incompentent that I thought.
-
I think they will get together for one night. Then it will be back to the "new paradigm" (I guess it's better than mythology). Not only will it give fans hope it also gives them the opportunity to have her pregnant or not depending on if they want to go that route at the end of the season.

This guy really needs to work on his interview giving skills. First we have "win her back". Now we have "when they fell in love the first time". Generally people don't say "first time" unless there in more than one. So is he saying that Castle thinks Beckett is not in love with him anymore? Somebody should tell him to STFU because he is only making it worse.

I wonder how Beckett would have reacted if her father had said "Look if you let me go on just one bender I'll be able to break the cycle". So the way to end an addiction is by feeding it. Damn, when I think of all the time I wasted dieting when I should have just pigged out & then I could have lived happily ever after.

I suspect this will be the last season. I don't really expect to see them address their trust issues beyond a repeat of the Watershed swing scene. Beckett: "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kept secrets." Castle: "I'm sorry too. I kept my fair share" Beckett: "It's who you are. You were saving the world & just trying to protect us." Castle: "Us?" Beckett: "Yes Castle us. I'm pregnant." Castle has a huge grin on his face as we fade to black. All is right in Castleland.
-
That's the danger in rahashing old storylines. When she inevitably promises Castle that this is the last time why should he or the audience believe it means any more than it did last time. My bet is they use her being pregnant to wipe all this away & give them a fresh start. It would follow their pattern of trauma advancing their relationship to the next stage. It is just about the only card they have left in the deck.

This is quoted from the Castle in the Media thread. Beckett has been battling her obsessive behavior for years. She has had at least two bouts of long term therapy to overcome it. Yet here she is falling off the wagon once again (even having a marriage to lose does not stop her). For me it doesn't matter if she comes back on her own or if Castle "wins her back". If they don't address the fundamental problem of her addiction I don't see any reconciliation being anything but temporary until the next shiny object sets her off again. She needs to sign up for RHA (Rabbit Hole Anonymous).

The only thing I watch completely live anymore is sporting events. Even if I'm going to watch a show when it airs I record it & wait 20 minutes for a hour long show & 10 minutes for a 30 minute show. That way I can fast forward through all the commercials. I have read articles that they are working on putting flags in the digital stream which will eventually take away the ability to fast forward through commercials. Then I will just go back to my old standby of flipping channels.

Since Beckett considers investigating LOCKSAT a virtual death sentence I guess out of all the people she knows she seems to consider Vikram the most expendable.
-
I like the little scenes also. One of my favorite scenes is from "Headhunters" even though I really disliked the episode overall. When Castle first comes in & asks her about court the way she is smiling & jabbering a mile a minute about the case shows just how happy she was to see him. They got their point across without her saying a word about missing him. That to me is showing not telling.
-
This is my point. If Beckett asks him to leave her alone & he ignores her it is a completely different dynamic now that they are having marriage problems. They have to be very careful with how they handle this or Castle will start to look like the estranged possessive husband that is unheathily obsessed with his wife. On the other hand if Beckett has no problem with him following her around it undermines the whole reason she left. Of course if she really wanted to protect him she could keep her ass in her office like every other Captain that has been on the show. Anyway the whole setup sounds like pure comedy gold.
-
Sadly it is as logical as anything else that has happened so far. Besides it is bound to work because we all know that when a woman breaks up with a man the best thing he can do is start showing up where she works. Women just love that.
-
Just to make sure that I am up to speed this is what I think is going on: a) Beckett could have left the case alone & let SSM (step spy mommy) solve the case & everything could have stayed the same. b) Beckett feels guilty because her two year old search (that's a pretty shitty search engine the AG uses) caused all of this. c) Beckett thinks leaving Castle will protect him when LockSat inevitably finds out she is investigating. d) Castle believes the case is solved & that Beckett just had some sort of meltdown & hauled ass. Is this right or am I missing something?

I really don't see them as two people trying to make it anymore. All I see are two walking talking plot devices devoid of any understandable motivations having their strings pulled by an obvious puppet master. This show is starting to remind me of the old Roadrunner cartoons. Just when Castle thinks he has her he gets run over by a train that comes out of nowhere. But just like good ole Wile E. Coyote, Castle just dusts himself off and gets back to the never ending chase.
