  1. Innuendo from tabloids stated as a fact. More likely they were jerks to one another.
  2. They worried that we'd think they were writing Fillion off, wanted to reassure us that he was going to make it. (just kidding)
  3. Yayyy, so it looks like Carter will be filming in North Bay again, meaning another season. https://www.mynorthbaynow.com/36345/jerry-oconnell-and-north-bay-headed-for-a-spring-fling/
  4. Sorry, I forgot that in some people's worlds, parents pay for college. ;-).
  5. Nah, I think they're writing Nolan off. Sorry Nathan, the ratings weren't good enough. They had to cut back ;-). (Just kidding. It's a silly story line for certain. Utter lack of creativity.) I know! The arrest will lead to jail time and a prison trope where Nolan and Bradford's wife will become a thing. I was thrilled with Bradford for avoiding being stupid. From all the "Bradford is stupid" posts elsewhere, I was expecting FBI surveillance to catch him leaving the scene and they'd arrest him. Maybe if they had, it would set him straight. Hopefully wife will go to jail and be out of the picture for awhile. The son was adorable. I'm glad Nolan had a good story to tell him, while secretly realizing that the director-guy shouldn't be idolized at all. In reality, Henry should be lamenting losing his room-mate because schools don't let you have that second half of the room for free! This was an entertaining episode of the dessert after dinner feel that I really enjoy.
  6. Funky shades! That's my job! (see my avatar). As I understand it, Kaydence is actually a real life MakeAWish child whose wish is to be an actress. And of course, she's playing a MakeAWish kid whose wish is to be a cop. Pretty cool. Here's an article about Kaydence: https://www.wtok.com/content/news/Meridian-girl-gets-Make-A-Wish-come-true-501801621.html
  7. Did the guy in TR die or did they somehow get him to the hospital? If Tudyk were cast and lived, it would be like Wash Groundhog Day, only this time he survives. Cathartic. And hilarious.
  8. I hate watching live TV, so I read the Tweets later too. Don't worry, I'm not a Nielsen family.
  9. But you know the impaling was a symbolic Wash. Too bad they didn't use Tudyk for the part.
  10. I saw the Jan 8 date on Futon Critic as well, with no episode name asociated. I assumed those all were just estimates for now. ABC has not yet formally announced their winter schedule. I hold out hope that TR will get a better lead-in or an earlier time.
  11. Regarding the January 8 return, I didn't think ABC had formally announced their winter schedule. Does PreviouslyTV have access to uber-secret information?
  12. I agree with you. Yes, and he's dumped Twitter pretty much altogether. I don't blame him at all. I see very little need to go there myself. BTW, he did live tweet the first episode of The Rookie, the 10PM PST airing on the West coast. I assume it was after he arrived home from the show promos. I remember when people complained that he didn't tweet about Castle enough. It's just not his MO. And as much as Twitter users like to think Twitter buzz matters, in reality it's hardly a blip on the radar of TV viewership. Most people don't have the time for it.
  13. Lots of back room dealing and corporate politics goes on and only the flies (on the wall) can guess how corporate renewal is determined, in these days of ratings dregs. I don't have any idea where the cancellation floor is anymore at ABC, because so many shows are tied for last place. I think which of the scrap pile they choose depends on if they want to go a drama or comedy direction. I think they tried to do more unscripted TV this year, which turned out to be a disaster, so I'll be surprised if they haven't ruled that out as an emphasis at least. Regarding The Rooke, as anemic as the ratings might seem, the show is performing better than most ABC shows in "the death timeslot" in recent years. This is according to reputable analysis sites, not ABC PR. Thus, I would hazard a guess that so far it's strong enough for renewal. Of course, we'll have to see what spring brings. The interesting delayed start and then delayed winter finish might bring in a few viewers who are hungry for something other than repeats and holiday shows, and those folks might stay on. I root and hope for The Rookie out of habit and other personal reasons, not because I think it's great television, because for me it isn't. I saw that Hawley is doing some sort of mentoring seminar for budding showrunners, and all I could think is I hope like hell that they don't follow any of HIS advice or they're doomed ;-) -- or maybe WE'RE doomed ;-). How many ABC buried bodies does Hawley know about, that they hire him back time and again?
  14. ol' Nate always lands on his feet. But I think he's more likely to try and do something main stream, while filling in the blanks with what you've described. He unapologetically is loved by "your mom" as he calls it and will want to try and find "her" in his entertainment channels.
  15. And it was flirty. I think they'll end up together. And by the time it happens, we'll all clap for it.
  16. So I'm thinking Nolan should start a romance with the captain. And because their love would cause work issues, maybe he'd quit the force. The couple could move to NYC where she'd become a detective....and, and, let's see, he'd win the lottery and move into a medium-rise loft. And his son -- who turns out to actually be a daughter (super reveal!) -- would happen to have red hair and blue eyes -- and would live with him.... and his outrageous, red headed, mother would also move in. And maybe he'd write books about crime, starring his love interest, the detective. And he'd write under a pseudonym...hmmmm....let's see...maybe Richard something! That's it! So I'm pretty sure I've figured out the end game, and such an original one at that. ;-). Still patting myself on the back for this non-derivative concept. What do you think?
  17. From one of the first couple of episodes, they have beater cars in the basement that they assign to officers who beat up their "shop" too much. And yes, the editing was terrible last night. Also, I enjoyed the actual chemistry between the captain and Nolan. Please let the "Jucy" thing die. Lucy belongs with her TO!
  18. I think Sara Rue's look may have been a hat tip to A Series of Unfortunate Events. If you click watch the video, the glasses and hair tied back are a bit similar.
  19. Amazon could pick it up under those circumstances. It wouldn't be the first time.
  20. I sincerely hope you're wrong, but you're probably right. Lucifer was picked up at Netflix and I'm hard pressed to think of sillier show, so I harbor hope :-D. MilMar said: "We're the key to Castle's success". Stana said: "No, I am". Nathan said: "No, it's me". Turns out it was the synergy of all three (four) of these players, plus a bunch of other cast and crew, that led to Castle's success. Who knew? ;-). None of them have had exceptional success in their own projects recently. Stana got another 10-episode Absentia season 2, but Lesley Goldberg all but said that AXN dropped it (and then it found a streaming home, just like all of the other dumped shows that found streaming homes, except in this case, it already had a streaming home!). And The Rookie is tanking too, so we'll see if it survives to a season 2 -- or finds a streaming home!
  21. And they seem to have become great TV friends.
  22. My state has passed a law requiring firearms to be locked at home. If they aren't and are stolen by an intruder and used in a crime, the registered owner can be liable. So maybe Cali doesn't have that same law -- yet. If I were a cop and dealing with the mob, I'd be sleeping with my gun. I kept thinking the Sara Rue character would turn into a stalker or something. Personally I wouldn't blame her. Bradford should have told her he was married BEFORE asking her to work an extra 3 hours. And does she have a supervisor to prevent her from working extra? Silly. I like the show more, feel like it's found it's stride. But I don't know if this is real or just me hoping for the best for it. I'm so sad that Nolan didn't win the lottery, although I still wonder if he has secret money. If not, what is he doing with such a rich friend? The back deck end scene was great. Salute to William Shatner/James Spader. The roommate should stay, but only if they don't write him with a shady past. This show needs a back deck ending.
  23. I'm not sure a person from Freeform is really an improvement. I don't know how much effect this change will have on the bubble shows like TR, because I don't think the entertainment president can cut everything, and ABC has too many middling shows. I also think this change was about the merger, not as much a mandate on ABC programming. If it was about programming, it would have happened before they started extending shows. From what I hear, typically true firings happen right before summer so it would have happened last spring or next spring rather than now. But who knows. If the move was about programming, it would have been as much about cutting Last Man Standing (a relatively large hit, even if you hate the politics) and moving toward the terribly performing unscripted shows (Alec Baldwin and DWTS Junior). But choosing a show like The Rookie without a script or a pilot and having it underperform may have hurt. Of course, other decision-makers besides Dungey may have been involved in doing what it took to keep Mark Gordon (and maybe Fillion) around, with Shonda gone. Oh, to be that fly on the wall in this decision-making process.
  24. We have the luxury of feeling that way as long as the ratings are good enough that the show can stay on the air. Unfortunately, The Rookie is pretty much a bubble show right now, very much in danger of not getting a second season. However, I'm pretty sure the spring shows ABC has in its lineup are going to be highly unpopular schlog (rather than popular schlog like Kardashians), so it's very possible that those will go first, making room for new shows plus The Rookie. But we'll see. I do think that for whatever reason ABC has prioritized TR over A Million Little Things. Fans can only hope that their opinion remains the same. If TR fails, I wonder if Nathan will ever again take a job with no scripts to read first, or with Hawley, who just really isn't very good.. What a waste of Fillion's television return this show turned out to be. I mean it's not terrible, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's great TV. Maybe Fillion is making big bucks and doesn't care. This was probably one of their less memorable episodes, except for the Nolan/Lucy breakup. Fingers crossed that Nolan moves on to the captain! I think my greatest problem with this show is that I actually LIKE real procedurals. The characters here aren't well enough developed for me to care about them at all, so give me a case of the week to care about, damn it ;-). I just realized that I didn't see if there was a resolution with the shut-in (Kristian Nairn). Is it worth going through all the On Demand commercials to find out? or will you guys tell me what the point was there? West is cured, as long as he can use his "shop" rather than his gun as a weapon. He should have been an army tank driver rather than a cop. Gosh, did we even see the captain this episode? We got another subtle hint that Nolan has a past, basically a downward left look at a strategic point in the script. Now, I can't even remember when that happened, but I know it did! And it was remarkable, really! I love the sergeant out in the field. I hope he does more of that and less of the silly ageism nonsense. I've already added TR to my eye-rollivision list. I'll probably stay as long as it does. With the ratings, that's not a huge commitment of time.
  25. Topic created. Thank you for your patience, Wendy.
