I think Hearst would be pleased/amused to know that his saying "Kill the whore" could make Al kill an innocent woman. That kind of power would be even more important to him than seeing his real assailant punished. Good thing the Doc didn't waste any anesthetic on him when he was removing that bullet.

Aunt Lou always looked uneasy when she was alone in a room with Hearst. And I loved the look she gave him (though he didn't seem to notice it) when he asked if she didn't miss Missouri.

Jeremy Abbott is coming back and will do Skate America (in Chicago), along with Jason Brown, Gracie Gold, Mirai Nagasu, the Shibutanis, Chock and Bates, Scimeca and Knierim, and Denney and Frazier. Is Jason supposed to have a quad this season? Alissa Czisny has officially announced her retirement, and Agnes Zawadzki is taking the season off. I suspect that's a euphemism for "retiring."

The most gruesome TV fight scene ever and a sex scene with Con Stapleton. I couldn't watch either. The first time I saw this episode, I was so afraid that Dan would drown in a mud puddle that I looked up the cast on IMDB and saw that W. Earl Brown was in the whole series till the end. Then I knew the right person would die. Now, why couldn't Adams or someone have shot Hearst while he was undefended?

I noticed while rewatching "Something Very Expensive" that Carrie asked Wolcott if there was any way to cut a throat painlessly--anticipating Johnny's question to Al at the end of "Tell Him Something Pretty." I wish Garret Dillahunt had turned up in a third role in season three.

A friend of mine went to NYU film school with Dayton Callie; he acted in the first student film she directed. She remembers him as a nice guy as well as a good actor. Charlie Utter is such a lovely character.

I first watched Deadwood a year ago, on HBO Go, when I was sick at home. I loved it immediately (made myself ration it to two episodes a day rather than binge-watch the whole thing) but realize now that there were a lot of nuances I missed when I was running a 103-degree fever. . . .

I think (on my third viewing) that I'm finally starting to understanding the Miss Isringhausen subplot. But I'll probably get confused again before she's gone.
