  1. I don't have any trouble with 630 still being a part of the family in the flash-forward episodes.  He might be ten at that point at most.  My childhood pet, a brown poodle named Dino, lived to 16.

I forgot all about the Mad fake-out in the book. I feel like I need to re-read the novel.

  2. As long as half the country can't conveniently vote live, voting will never be about who danced the best or improved the most.  There's little chance someone can have a brilliant dance and improve their scores or even save themselves from elimination.

  3. Santino's jumpsuit for Kara was ridiculous. It was so tight, you could see the outline of her butt crack when she she turned around.   I think the only reason he wasn't eliminated was because the guest judge thought Kara looked hot.

  4. Beavs win!  A great game for the offense, especially starting QB, DJ Uiagalelei.   Defense was playing strong in the first half even though penalties made the second half a little more nerve-wracking.  Bye week will help Beavs get healthy.

  5. The scene with her college professor was horrible.  I don’t remember how it was presented in the novel, but juxtaposing her fear of closed doors with the flashback made it even more powerful.

  6. 6 hours ago, Soapy Goddess said:

Did show change Nicole's makeup today?  I don't know if they are going for an "older" look (since Holly is a teenager), but IMO there was definitely something different about her look.  Am I the only who noticed?

I think she may have finally succumbed to the Days' actors use of fillers.  It looks like they've settled a bit since her first appearance after she had them.

  7. Beaver defense was overwhelming tonight and took down the Utes 21-7.  I think the defense started to feel a little sorry for the Utes' QB towards the end.

Coach Smith's signal to milk the clock is going to go viral.

  8. I liked the direction that made it seem like the trio were watching a play while the interviews were playing.  Very nice.

Is there any way that we'll find out that Ben was Loretta's son after all?  The director had a Ben-esque look to him.  It would give Meryl Streep a big acting moment to take to next year's Emmys if Loretta learned she'd been supporting the wrong brother.

I think I need to look back at the first episode to see if I missed something that might have been a misdirect all along.

  9. Exactly right, kathyk2.  If FOX and ESPN can keep all eyes on something shiny, then their part in the demolition of the PAC 12 won't get the attention it deserves.  If Oregon State and Washington State go to court to protect what remains of the PAC 12 and its assets, ESPN and FOX may have some explaining to do.

  10. Even though I am a die-hard Oregon State fan, I knew the Ducks would completely dominate Colorado.  I expect USC will do the same next week.

The media's laser focus on Colorado is good for the sports networks looking for casual viewers who won't remember (or care) that Oregon won on Saturday.

    It's all about the money.

I did find it a bit ironic, though, that Dan Lanning said the Ducks were "...rooted in substance, not flash...".  Teams who buy billboards for their starting QB and have 384 possible uniform combinations can't really claim the humble mantle.

  11. On second watch and noticed something I'd overlooked.  During the conversation between Mabel and Loretta, Mabel says, "Killers sometimes insert themselves into investigations".   I thought it was a pointed comment pushing back on Loretta's nosiness...but maybe it's also foreshadowing someone that Mabel is overlooking, who also inserted himself into the investigation:  Tobert.
