  1. I really enjoyed this.  It was fun to see Awkwafina play the “straight man” to Sandra Oh (who was a lot of fun in this).

Actually, I want Michigan to win because that's exactly what the NCAA deserves after ruining the sport of college football.

I think ESPN and FOX Sports also had a hand in ruining college football.  Unfortunately, anything for the ratings ESPN will be happy with a Michigan win.

The transfer portal and out of control NIL also share the blame.

  3. Anyone else a little tired of insurance spokespeople achieving a weird kind of celebrity status?  I'm think particularly of Flo and Jake and Dr. Rick.  At least the Mayhem commercials are occasionally witty and maybe not shown quite as often as the others.

  4. I don't think Seattle is always cloudy and overcast in the early fall (which is when I think this was filmed).  Of course, I live on the Oregon coast, so I'm just making an assumption based on the weather here.

Yes, I was disappointed that Rob and Corey fell behind...but when looking back over their normal placement in other legs, they were often in that third place position.  I was afraid they'd go out in fourth place where a lot of my favorite teams of the past have been eliminated.

I liked the brothers. So talented and consistent.  I kind of got tired of Joel and Garrett calling themselves the underdogs when they had won several rounds in the past.  They were a strong team, too.

  5. My dislike of the sketch had nothing to do with the portrayal of Elise Stefanik...or that SNL was picking on a right wing "hero" to the conservatives in the viewing audience.  If they'd focused on Stefanik finally getting her moment in the media  spotlight rather than the issue itself, it might have worked better.

Did they have any cold opens mocking Yelensky (or Putin) last year?  (I remember a beautiful opening by a Ukrainian/American choir right after the invasion).

I just think there are some things SNL shoudn'y try to lampoon.

  6. It's not going to happen, but this would be a good time for the NCAA to step back in and take over this whole silly playoff mess.   The ESPNs of the world are getting too much control over what is happening in college football.  I read stories this week that Cam Ward was fielding million dollar offers to jump into the portal and find a new team.  He can make more money from NIL than being a rookie in the NFL.  Isn't that wrong?  Something has to change.

  7. Yikes.  I must be in a grumpy mood tonight; I haven't found anything particularly funny at all.  The pottery skit fell really flat with the audience.  Both of the previews for Emma Stone's movies seemed like a SNL commercial in their bizarreness.  All I've really enjoyed is Chloe Troast's voice, and the musical guest, who has a nice voice, too.

  8. Speaking of Michigan State, they have a new head coach via Oregon State.  Jonathan Smith announced his departure this morning.  Beavers really can't catch a break this year.

  9. "You can eat them now.  They have stopped calling out their death".  Kellogg's should use that phrasing in their advertising.

Pete/Pat's stories are really poignant.  Even though Pat is my favorite UK character, I know I avoided rewatching his episode because it made me sad.

  10. The parade has always been so commercial...but geez, I think they added the extra 30 minutes just to advertise even more.  I don't remember ever seeing a truck pull one of the floats in all the many, many years I've watched.

  11. I was surprised when this dropped early last night.

I was a little disappointed by the finale.  It seemed like Apple TV decided to wrap up the show and stuffed all the story lines in that might have been allowed to develop in a season 2.

Did the highway vote go against the neighborhood?  If so, that makes the happy holiday gathering seem a little odd at the end.  I really wish they had stayed focused on the original plot of the novel.  If not that, maybe it would have been better to make the highway story line the focus of a second season.  Especially in this finale, the shift in focus distracted me.

I wanted more scenes with Mad and her grandmother.  DId Mad share the news with Rev. Wakely since he was so instrumental in helping her solve the mystery?  Why was Elizabeth's hair so much longer in the classroom scenes only to go back to length she wore it in her show in the last scene?  Was the classroom scene a flash forward, and I was just not paying close enough attention?  Why have Beau Bridges in the series but basically give him five lines?  I just think there was a bunch of scenes that got cut.

It’s a Catholic thing.  Not a fan of it either.

It's not just a Catholic thing.  When my niece lost her baby, she was told the same thing by a Baptist pastor.

I can't believe Melinda and Sloan can justify what they're doing.  You'd have to be a sociopath to think what you're doing is right.  I get it that this is a soap opera, but geez...what reason does Melinda have to do this?

I thought the acting was better than usual today.

I think Ryan and Colin had aged about as much as Aisha had de-aged.

I'm glad someone else noticed how much Ryan had aged.  I guess they've been showing some cobbled together shows from several years ago for the past few years, but I was still shocked at how different Ryan looked.  Has he lost weight and that's made him look much older?

I thought Colin looked about the same.
