I also though Cheryl seemed winded. It was pretty clear they gave them Jive because practice time would be so limited. I don’t think they really had wardrobe options. What Cheryl wore looked a lot like what she wore last week.

She was dressed like one of Powerline’s backup dancers. I get the sense she also might have either thought the bike shorts/sports bra combo wouldn’t pop as much on camera and/or might be slightly uncomfy showing her midriff and could have defaulted into a costume she was more comfortable in. Since they’re not really that distinctive beyond black costume/high pony/boots.

(I didn’t love their dance but have a soft spot for that movie as an underrated Disney movie.)

They typically have no elimination on Disney Week. The problem is that the show assumes that we don't remember past seasons.

There’s too many people still in this thing to be pulling no eliminations. I’m hoping for a double tomorrow.

A double that considers scores cumulatively from both days, because seriously if they made me sit through endless “Mickey challenges” only to make it mean NOTHING I’m going to be so mad.

What songs would they use though? Charleston to the Cantina song? Jazz to Agatha All Along?

Oh! What about a Guardians of the Galaxy dance to “Come and Get Your Love”? I actually might really enjoy that.

    Note to JoJo Siwa:

You are now 18 years old.  It is time to lose the bow.  Mercifully, you are not wearing it in the dances, but it is there in the talking heads.  It makes you look like you are 12 years old.

You are transitioning to a young woman, one who can do some pretty mature dancing.  I know the bow has been your signature look, but how long do you want to look like a child?  This is your opportunity to show what you can do as a young woman who has the talent to be on DWTS, possibly even win it.  Use it well.

Eh, she’s grown up, but she’s still largely a Children’s entertainer. It’s like telling Shari Lewis to lose the sockpuppet, we all know the lamb’s not real.

She does seem to be slowly expanding her style and dipping her toe into more adult things, but she likely makes most of her money still from 5-9 year olds. If she’s looking to up that age range, she seems to be doing it carefully.

Now, the show did a lot to accommodate for Cody/Cheryl, but that's not their fault AND I think Cody did a pretty great job with the jazz routine, even having to battle through COVID and doing it virtually (it's a miracle they were able to mostly sync up their music). I found the judges...a little harsh, seeing as it's not THEIR fault and their dance, overall, WAS better than some of the others of the night. Yes, we get it, they did it virtually and it makes it harder to judge. But Cody had MUCH better movement than BAG and he got a lower score, all because the show wanted Cody for Britney Night and gave them permission to continue

Maybe it’s because I hated the format so much but I thought Cody’s scores were fair. Sure his movement was better than BAG, but this is exactly the dance style he’s trained in and did professionally - he was a backup dancer for Katy Perry and some others doing exactly this. So you’ve gotta be harder on him to start and then the synchronization was just impossible to achieve (understandably) but just made it so bad to watch.

This is not a defense of BAG, as he was also very bad (I felt over-scored) and can go away any time.

Where was Derek? Tyra said he was sitting this one out out of an abundance of caution, is he okay?

He apparently had a “COVID exposure but has been testing negative.” I guess his Vegas show was also canceled last night. I’m a little surprised he hasn’t put any sort of statement out since it’s been announced now and he’s usually pretty active on social media. All speculation, I wonder if one of his dancers from his show tested positive? Or I think he’s doing meet and greets, it would suck if it were one of those.

To make an on-topic comment, I’m going to submit a prediction that Christine’s going home tonight. She seems…fine? But not that exciting and do people know who she is? Because I do not.

I did it! The winner is me! ;P

  8. Listen, I’ll say it, I’m liking Olivia. She seems to have grown up a lot, and is clearly taking this seriously. A lot of people who come in with that beauty/model/socialite background end up being so timid when they dance and she doesn’t do that, she’s going for it.

  9. I realize this is all produced that way, but man, they really cry over the mildest, softest of criticism. The judges will gush over them but give them one note - cut to a package where they’re sobbing about how hard they work. Ew. Looking at you, Melora and Mel C.

  10. Slightly off topic, and I don’t know if this was a national commercial, but there’s a Princess Diana MUSICAL??? That seems like a terrible idea.

People say Cody is very popular. Maybe he's getting so many votes they want to keep him on the show?

Yeah, he’s apparently got a rabid cult following among suburban Peloton moms, especially. Which seems like a likely desired viewing population for this show. Which also doesn’t dissuade me from my conspiracy theory that there’s a behind the scenes agreement between Peloton and the producers.

They're THIS desperate to keeping him in that they're doing this.

Maybe its in the advertising contract they signed with Peloton he’s gotta stick around a certain number of weeks </cynic>

I don’t think Cody is doing his classes for Peloton, he has other instructors subbing for him. I know CDE subbed for him last night. But there is no studio in LA. Peloton did have instructors riding for home at the beginning of COVID. There was still a camera person at their home.

Yeah, my one minuscule bit of Peloton knowledge is I used to go to Peloton classes in New York (including Cody’s classes, actually - pre-pandemic you could take them like regular spin classes) and they had a whole camera setup in the ceiling. Setting up an LA studio, even a stripped down one, feels complex. He’s also not the only one who’s been traveling, I believe Jimmie Allen is actively on tour.

Hopefully they haven’t had him practicing with anyone else yet? Rumors were it would have been Brit, because the new alternate pro is technically in a “COVID bubble” as a close contact with the other alternate pro and it seemed likely they wouldn’t break that if they didn’t have to.

I don’t know how they’re saying “his future on the show is in doubt” though. He’s gotta be out, they just don’t want to say it? Because any way they try to keep him in feels sketch. No one else with an injury/illness gets to stay.

How tall is Amanda? When she did the twirl at the end, her legs were like a mile each.

Don't know if it's accurate but my googling came up with 5'8"

She said in an Instagram live, 5’10 and 1/2. (I remember because then Alan argued with her and said she had to be 6’ because he believes himself to be 6’ and she seems as tall as him, and it made me laugh because as a fellow 5’10 person I’ve had this argument with men before, who get offended you can prove they’re not quite 6’)

During the Maks/Meryl season, Amy Purdy hurt herself in the group dance so they showed the dress rehearsal footage.

Didn’t the rule used to be you had to have done it in the ballroom though? I feel like I remember drama about that with that one housewife who had a stroke, she wanted to be judged on rehearsal footage and they wouldn’t let her because it was from Atlanta, and not on the stage.

Though that’s something I could see them changing because of Covid.

Has Tyra only had 1 glove this whole time? Even more stupid than the dress.

    Bye, Grandpa.

No, I think she took one off because she couldn’t hold those results cards (aka do her job) with it on

    Definitely a no brainer result.
