  1. So when do Mack and the Salzmans get their sentences? I still can't believe that the prosecutors allowed Mack to plead it down. You just know she won't serve a day.

  2. Well now we know why the filmmakers went so easy on Nancy, Allison, the Bronfmans etc.. its because they'll all be showing up for Part 2, to tell the same "woe is me, I got duped" story the rest of the gang told in Part 1.

This thing held my attention to the end but it really went totally off the rails about half way through. They could have told the same story in about 4 hours.

  3. I have more sympathy for Sarah than most people here it seems. To a certain degree they are of course all culpable and have a lot to answer for. And I agree that none should really be presented as "heroes" (the fault of the filmmakers). But when I first heard about this case, it was Sarah Edmondson's name that came along with it. She went on the record. She told (and showed) everyone what they did to her (which is worse than what was done to Mark, Bonnie, Catherine Oxenberg, or anyone else featured in the documentary so far, and which must have been terribly difficult). I give her (and her husband) an immense amount of credit for that. She rubs me the wrong way too but she did more to take down this shit show than pretty much anyone else.

So far what I've come away with is that Sarah's still got a bit of a hard on for some of this shit; Allison, Nancy, and India are getting away with WAY too much shit for their roles in this

    THIS.

If Allison Mack, Nicki Clyne, the Salzmans, the Bronfmans et al. are not raked over the coals, and their roles in this vile trainwreck of an "organization" not utterly and totally exposed by the end of this, the filmmakers will have completely failed. None of them are victims in the slightest. They should be in prison with Raniere.

  4. Arianna is the only halfway decent person on this show, the rest are pure scum. She needs to get the fuck out pronto.

Jax kicking Tom out of "the bridal party" (and referring to it as such not once but twice) was yet another highlight of his epic stupidity.

Every time the new cast comes on screen it brings the show to a grinding halt. Experiment failed.

Me, too. I don't usually ship couples too hard, but when she asked "What are you doing here?"  and his face fell, I felt a twinge. I was so glad she immediately smiled and they had that nice moment. I needed that.

I hope the show doesn't take the predictable route of him being creepy/evil/El Cuco's minion and just keeps them as two awkward dorks in love.

But yeah this episode was 100% filler.

  6. So one thing that confused me in this episode, I was convinced it was deliberate at first but now I'm not so sure.

When Jeannie is at work the first time talking to the girl, she is wearing a blue denim shirt. As the girl leaves, Jeannie looks in on the waiting room and notices the hooded guy (the actual one). She looks disturbed but calls the next guy into her office. Later she pops out again wearing a striped sweater and sees the sleeping hooded guy - different shade of green hoodie and obviously not the eraser faced man. Then later in the episode she is back to her previous attire.

I was convinced for a moment that there might be two Jeannies, but given how the rest of the episode played out I'm thinking just a continuity/editing error? There have been a few of those in the series so far.

I don't get the negativity around this show, its not perfect but I'm loving the atmosphere, tone, and creep factor.

  7. I cheered when wheelchair guy deleted the voicemail, despite how utterly and pathetically cliche it was. I really don't want a Otis/Maeve pairing because I really liked them as business partners and friends. This show has some great moments but ultimately its just window dressing on the same old tropes. My moneys on Otis not saying anything / taking her silence as rejection, etc. etc., drag it out until three quarters of the way through the season, and then somehow she finds out about the message, or he finally spills the beans, etc. etc. then some other bit of miscommunication keeps them apart again, until the inevitable finale where everything comes together.

Doesn't mean its not enjoyable though. Adam stole the season again.

  8. Kendall has to be the most cringe worthy and utterly pathetic character in all of TV. But Jeremy Strong's performance is one of the greatest I've ever witnessed. I barely made it through the first few episodes of this show but I'm glad I stuck with it, as now I can't look away.

  9. I had a rather long post done here, but having seen the "spoiler policy" and the non-existent thread to discuss the books, I'll self-censor and just say I thought the show was quite well done but still lacking much of what made the books special.

The best thing about the show was Cavill's performace. He absolutely nails everything about Geralt. My favourite thing about season 1 by a country mile.

  10. Not nearly enough JAMES MF KENNEDY for my tastes. "Raquel's Boyfriend" .. really? WTF.

Scheanar, Lalar, Jax all 100% repulsive, regular service has resumed. Lalar's conversation with Carter might just be the absolute height of hypocrisy. Felt bad for Kristen who is clearly a mess (and having the context of that really nice and thoughtful post she made when they broke up makes all of this such clear fakery).

The new cast sucks but Max especially. He deserves Scheaner and her clingy desperation.

  11. As note-perfect a finale as I've ever seen.

This show just got better and better for me, I know others have had their issues but I loved every second of it. I had long gaps between watching S1 - S2, and S2 - S3 but I watched the last two seasons back to back and it does help with the pacing/continuity. Definitely a show I plan on re-watching.

You'd be blind drunk before the end of the first act.

Two drinks every time Mickey says "fah leaf."

  13. This show tries every ounce of my patience and despite that I do recognize that it's very, very well done. The cast is phenomenal. But this episode was played almost 100% straight and I'm not on board for that show. The last episode was terrific and had me in stitches, this one gave me an earworm I'm not likely to shake for several days.

+1 for the kid versions of Jessie and Judy being note perfect.

  14. Noel to Rosie: "Have you ever fixed a gorilla?"

Noel to Rosie: "What's the biggest animal you ever castrated?"

Noel to Rosie: "What's the smelliest thing you've come across?"

Noel was on fire tonight lol. So sad Rosie has gone. I liked her showstopper idea, just needed more flair. It's pretty obvious that they don't weigh the technical at all in the decision-making, but her exit definitely wasn't totally unwarranted. I hope Steph can pull it off next week!

  15. I sincerely hope we get better than this in the books. It's not so much what happened but how we got there. The show never used Bran properly and never showed the audience why he is important. The show absolutely massacred Daenerys and Jon's characters in order to serve the plot. Please George, take back your legacy.

Daenerys especially really hurts. That scene should have been so tragic and full of emotion but it was just so basic and empty. I'd go so far to say that in the books Daenerys is one of fantasy literature's greatest ever characters. And here she got a totally unearned Nazi heel turn for shock value and so we could end the show in 3 episodes.

I think the problem with Raquel's voice is that she's very nervous.  There's a shakyness (yeah, that's not a real word but it describes it) when she's in an uncomfortable position.  She could also be a person who is intelligent (does well in school) but not smart.  There's a difference between intelligence and being smart.  I've known many intelligent people who do fantastic in school but have no common sense.

The Toms' were idiots with signing the restaurant deal with LVP.  LVP used them to promote a restaurant based upon VPR and the Toms'.  She used them.  And she continues to dismiss them by saying they'll talk at the end of the year.  It doesn't matter how small the investment they made was (to her but big for them), they should be able to look at the books.  It makes it seem like she's hiding something.  I wonder who is on the payroll for instance?  All around shady.

Yeah, all of them got their start on the show.  However, the show's success comes from them.  Not LVP.  And the success of the show has largely affected the success of Kenny and LVP's restaurants.  She may have started 34 restaurants but she only had one when RHBH started (correct me if I'm wrong) and has been trying to sell Villa Blanca for years.

Agree with all of this. Raquel is quite clearly just nervous and she has gone on multiple times about her "social anxiety" (I wouldn't call this that, exactly, more like performance anxiety). I find her so inoffensive, one moment that made me laugh was when Stassi looked at her point blank and said "I don't even know her" .. none of them have made the slightest effort and fair enough, but the spitting hate directed towards her seemed so personal and I honestly don't get it.

James was on FIRE and absolutely destroyed every single one of them. It was glorious. Count me in for team James. He is hateable in the extreme but compared to Jax, Lala, Britney et al. he is terrific. Someone upthread pointed out James' value to the show comes with the conflict he brings, and that his insults are often hilarious and nailed on. I couldn't agree with that more. He knows EXACTLY which buttons to push and for a show like this that is gold, Jerry. Looking forward to more shoehorning in of James and Racquel next year. He's the only thing keeping the show going.

Beau is at least partially performing for the camera all the time to me.

With all due respect, all of them are totally performing for the camera 100% of the time. The vast majority of what we see is completely contrived and scripted. It's great, but for me it requires a significant suspension of disbelief.

  18. Re: Sansa

I think this Sansa is just a poorly realized version of the direction Sansa is heading in AFFC, which I absolutely loved. When I read that book I thought finally, here is the payoff for this character. She will become her mother. That's obviously what we're meant to be seeing in the show, but as with most things I think it will be done much better in the books.

Even so I like the intent and what they're trying to do. I also like Sophie Turner.

  19. Terrible horror movie. Half decent comedy.

There really was absolutely zero in terms of suspense, creepiness, or anything else one might associate with a horror movie. It wasn't totally bad though - some good performances and memorable moments.

  20. Just finished it tonight, and on the whole I definitely enjoyed it. Called Adam/Eric in episode 1 like everyone else. I love Ola. I both really like Maeve as a character and hate the fact that Otis and Maeve are so obviously fated, which is cliche as fuck. Eric annoyed me from the get go but I came to like his story best of all. Gillian Anderson rules and I hope her and Jacob can be happy together. Jackson did nothing wrong. Headmaster Groff is a prize dickhead. All these mixed feelings means I cared a lot about the characters and really hope we'll get more of this story.

With that said, I was recommended this show as people in a Skins forum were talking about it. Skins was, for me, a frighteningly realistic depiction of high school life. Sex Education... was not. It was over the top fun, but if you want the real deal check out Skins.

  21. Loved every minute of it (except that interminable recap intro).

Watching the corpse dismembering shenanigans is the hardest I've laughed at this show since the piss jars back in season 4. Sandy is the absolute fucking best, she better be back next season. For all of you folks still snarking over this show - it's SO much more enjoyable when you're half in the bag. That's the kind of show this is.

On a more serious note I thought Jon Voight gave a fantastic performance. He actually made me feel something for Mickey. Lying or not he loves his family in his own way. What a character.
