  1. 1883. It's an excellent show (though not without its flaws), easily the best of Sheridan's TV work. Yellowstone started out solid but has devolved into a pandering, plotless dumpster fire over the last few seasons.
  2. "Three times - day's not over yet." 🤮
  3. On the whole I think it was a pretty damn good show, despite Taylor Sheridan's best efforts at sabotaging it there in the middle with the focus on Elsa. Her characterization was way over the top, with not one but two whirlwind romances. The thing with the first cowboy should have been cut so that the second relationship would have had more meaning (and with the closing scenes it was clearly this relationship that was more important). The other character choices for Elsa (being perfect at everything, being a total anachronism) detracted a lot from the series for me. With that said, the rest was very, very good. Some truly great and memorable performances from (all) the other leads, and what I thought was a moving finale. I hope we see more of this story.
  4. The only thing in this episode that didn't literally turn my stomach was the technical. Is that what the British think pizza is? And yet compared to the monstrosities in the showstopper the pizzas looked downright appealing. Worst bread week ever.
  5. Holy shit that was fucking TERRIBLE. Like Dexter-level bad. So many plot contrivances to get us to that big giant pile of dogshit. So disappointing.
  6. It's crazy to me that there are people who are tired of Rue's storyline. Zendaya is absolutely electric in this role. I am rooting for the character and yet at the same time I am just captivated by watching her self destruct. I like the other characters, but I would watch The Rue Show for 8 straight episodes no problem.
  7. I stuck with it but I can't say it ever really won me over. It has an interesting premise that could have been explored in many different ways but instead it went with nonsensical decision-making (camping 200km from town the night before a full moon) to drive the plot. And the writer clearly thinks his taste in music is something special, that interminable last scene must have a been fun to direct "ok you look at her" "now you look at him" "now look back at her" "now look outside" "now look at her again" cut to drone shot 6 minutes later... Fin Also not a fan of Josh Gad.
  8. Rip is definitely Dan Doherty. Beth is Trixie (ok ok I know the relationships don't line up but the irritation factor sure does).
  9. To have Gil Birmingham as a main cast member on your show and then put him in what, 2 scenes all season? I'm not exaggerating a bit, its disgusting. Sheridan is the same guy who wrote Hell or High Water but when he's this stretched he is very quickly approaching full on hack territory. Maybe, I don't know, cut down on the ads, or on the scenes of yourself wrangling and stunt riding. Aside from a few nice moments this season has been one big giant fucking waste of time.
  10. Don't forget the scenes he writes of himself stunt riding and delivering hard ass one liners to the likes of Jimmy. Three episodes in a row! Thankfully he wasn't in this one, stay behind the camera Sheridan! This season, apart from the first half of the first episode, has been a crushing bore (and I say that as a fan). Hopefully things pick up soon.
  11. I really felt awful for Crystelle, who I think might have taken the win had she not messed up the focaccia. I'd say she was in the lead after the technical, and the rest of her showstopper was good, but unfortunately that sank her. Which brings me to the main point I want to make, is that it appears to me (at least according to the edit) that the show seemed to break its own rules again, and I think Chigs should have won the week. I would hand it to Giuseppe over the whole season, he was much stronger than Chigs early on, but the editors could have done a better job showcasing why he should have won the week. The technical clearly means nothing nowadays, but show us why his signature and showstopper were clearly superior. This remains my one gripe about the show, is that they will break their own rules at times for unknown reasons and keep someone around despite a poor week on the basis of previous performance when that's really not how its supposed to work (and does work most times). With all that said, Giuseppe is a great winner and I loved the stuff with his dad. What a top guy.
  12. ... And none of you think you're reading just a little bit much into this?
  13. Do people really think there's some kind of conspiracy and that Paul / the producers were "sticking it" to Jurgen by not giving him a handshake? For what possible reason? Its not like Jurgen has had a poor edit or anything like that, he's universally beloved! I agree that 3 was too many handshakes but I'm guessing Paul just got caught up in the moment. Someone pointed out that its actually fewer total handshakes than last season, so that's a positive, but I can remember a time where it felt like there was less than 5 per season. Those days are long gone. Regardless, I really don't get the sense any of that was done specifically to single out Jurgen.
  14. Not according to this: https://www.mashed.com/176526/the-untold-truth-of-the-great-british-baking-show/ I also have to disagree with the prevailing opinion here that Crystelle is a phony. It might be true, but I don't get that vibe at all. To me she comes across as lacking a bit of confidence / self-belief that she can hang with the others and she seems legitimately surprised when she's singled out or does well. I think it might be the over-the-top reaction that's triggering, but I think its real.
  15. To be fair, this might be the closest, hardest-to-call elimination I have ever seen on the show. As much as I was rooting for him, I'd have booted Chiggs based on his technical, which is really the only outright bad example from the week. It would have been just as tough if he went based on that though, when he nailed the signature and mostly nailed the showstopper. I like Jurgipops and don't think he deserved to go, but none of them did.
  16. Latest Survivor SA has proven its the best version, what an amazing season with a great winner. SA 6 to 8 are all so great. Ausvivor is entertaining but way too twist heavy and the editing is atrocious, half the cast are routinely ignored and it has the unhappy responsibility for having given us a second winner who was voted out (unanimously) earlier in the game. Aus 2017 is still the best season of all time though.
  17. Oh god do we really have to sit through young Smurf for another season? Brings the show to a screeching halt every time.
  18. Black comedy you say? I laughed. When Marla got shot at the end of the movie. Too little too late though.
  19. Disappointing ending. A little better if they knew they were being renewed. If not, the writers are assholes. I really liked the show and thought the first few episodes showed a ton of promise. Some good sci-fi concepts and they built a world I really want to know more about. Mother and Father are good characters. But as others have said it got quite a bit worse as the season went on and the last episode was just ludicrous and nonsensical. Travis Fimmel was wasted as soon as he "went insane" - that is not playing to his strengths. In for next season but definitely less optimistic. By the way, the intro theme, art and general concept is one of my favourites of any show in recent years.
  20. Actually it almost certainly is not possible, given the school records show her in at 7:54 and out at 10:50. The tiny window of opportunity, the fact that the school would have noticed her missing, the blood, the weight of the body all make it extremely unlikely. Ali strikes me as someone who has been through a lot (and had a lot of therapy) and is probably naturally a bit off (given her childhood and mental health issues) but to go from that to "yep, she murdered her mom" is a massive leap. My wife was convinced it was her as well until the last episode finally shut her up. So good schools do exist outside of America, and even mediocre schools in America are expensive AF. And they did explain, multiple times, why she went to Argentina. She got the fuck out of what must have been an extremely unpleasant and stressful environment and went as far away as she could.
  21. She really shouldn't have. She clearly lost the week. That (with one or two egregious exceptions) is how the show works. You lose the week and you're out. And Hermine was my favourite of the season.
  22. Disagree. I still think it's pretty compelling, if not for the true crime aspect but from the personal angle. Like most documentaries in this genre it suffers a bit from jumping around and not being clear on timelines but I like the personal stuff (the girlfriend, for example). It emphasizes the nature of the story. This guy evidently worked on the documentary for almost a decade and you can see the care that went into it. Dad's still guilty AF.
  23. I found this compelling. From the date cards it seems to have been in production since 2013, so I suspect it started as something school related and became something bigger than that. For a young amateur(ish) filmmaker to sell this to HBO is pretty interesting. Dad looks guilty AF.
  24. So when do Mack and the Salzmans get their sentences? I still can't believe that the prosecutors allowed Mack to plead it down. You just know she won't serve a day.
