  1. I've seen Ari on a couple of shows so I was surprised to see him on Jeopardy. Congrats Jennifer.
  2. Jon Stewart was in several films and had a talk show on MTV as well as hosting a show called Short Attention Span Theater on Comedy Central (or it may have been The Comedy Channel back then-can't remember when the name changed.) So he wasn't an unknown at all. Plus, Kilborn had pretty much alienated a lot of people at that point, especially insulting Lizz Winstead, the show's co-creator in a magazine article. Kilborn was funny at first and had some good contributors on the show like Winstead and A. Whitney Brown. The show's changed so much since then you wouldn't even know it was the same show.
  3. No, not really. I could have been at that podium for hours and wouldn't have had an answer. But once revealed, of course it made sense. It was a case of me not paying attention in 11th grade English class. I was an accounting major. I never studied much classic literature except for a few things in high school.
  4. Category-Shakespeare The clue--Hamlet said about this character that he was a "man of infinite jest" Of course, the answe was Yorick, and this clue was repeated almost verbatim in the regular game just a few months ago. But at the time, I just Could Not Come Up with the correct question.
  5. I was a contestant in 1998 and I didn't know my FJ, so everyday when I get it right I almost always say "why wasn't that my FJ question, dammit?"
  6. I was watching the rerun last night with Dave Chappelle and seeing the bit with Todd the intern reminded me of all the great trips Biff used to take on behalf of the show. I guess he's still the stage manager although I haven't seen him in a while.
  7. It's funny but I guessed what it was before the clue was revealed. When the subject was revealed and they went to commercial I told my SO that it's probably Newfoundland and Labrador. I was shocked when that's what it was.
  8. I don't know why but FJ came to me immediately and I never read the book or saw the film. But if I have an area of expertise, it's movies and Oscars.
  9. I hate to see her go as well but the guy who won was pleasant enough. Anyone catch that Trebek said what a pleasant person she was. I took that as a dig toward Arthur.
  10. I was a contestant in 97. They had the contestant search in Atlanta. You took the test in person and they did tell us you had to get 75% correct answers. They kept those of us that did and we then played the mock game. They took our pictures and only told us they would call 1 month before taping if we were chosen as contestants. I took the test in May and they called in October for taping in November. My show aired January 1998. I was lucky because I was a woman in my forties with a pink collar type office job. My brother didn't even get invited to take the test.
