  1. It seemed as if nearly everyone was singing flat last night.
  2. Anyone want to see realNicole dance in a pseudo-Broadway style? She was in A Chorus Line: The Movie as Kristine, half of the married couple auditioning for the show. (long blonde hair, gray outfit)
  3. In addition to what ElectricBoogaloo wrote (above), yes, Ann Reinking was pretty much playing herself in ATJ. In the teaser for the next episode I believe that character is the woman with dark hair they focused on a couple times during rehersal scenes (while Gwen and Bob were heatedly discussing something).
  4. It just clicked with me after watching the next episode's trailer, though just the mention of Pippin should have done it. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Ann Reinking time.
  5. His IMDB page.. From the biography section I'm not sure if he's still involved in that business.
  6. Did Kelly invite Beth to go tour with her or just duet on something together? I didn't quite catch it.
  7. Strrange, my program guide on Dish has this as Episode *4* and the next episode's number as "N/A"
  8. Permanent move or just for that week? Odd to do a permanent move mid-season.
  9. I don't think this is an "it's different in England" thing but perhaps an "it's different now" thing. My mother says flowers and phone calls from friends and family could very well have happened had a lady been elected to town council in 1964 small town US, similar to Violet's situation, and it just sort of depended on the friends and family. YMMV of course.
  10. Little Bobby tap dancing was, in the book, Bob dwelling on tap dancing as a kid in burlesque and strip clubs and stuff the people there would do to mess with his head and generally screw him up. It's pretty much the same shorthand used in ATJ to say Bob's issues started in childhood (and it wasn't much of a childhood).
  11. Ever since Trixie walked into the pub and then sat at a table talking with the uninvolved dad I've been waiting for another Trixie relapse. So far so good, no relapse yet, but this show can't be all-Trixie, all-the-time. Being in a pub where others were drinking (she had juice) didn't seem to bother her, outwardly, maybe they'll let her have those demons under control. Guess we'll see if anything comes of it.
  12. I think they said each coach had 1 save and 1 steal for this entire round, both days of it. If that is correct, Blake has 1 steal left (he saved Selkie), John and Kelly each have 1 save left (having used their steals), and Adam can do nothing (used his saves and steals up at the beginning). And boy did he want to save, or someone (Blake) to steal, the last guy eliminated. He is Adam, watch him squirm. And I do not like this new format. Confusing I can get used to, but as has been said, it's not fair to the later contestants if the coaches can't control themselves (and unless the coaches get more saves/steals for night #2, it's hugely unfair to those contestants).
  13. If this is reminding you of All That Jazz, remember ATJ was pretty much a Fosse autobiography. I recently read Fosse, the biography Fosse/Verdon is based on, and it makes that point very clear, if there ever was a doubt. As for the jumping around in the timeline, the book's first chapter would normally have been the last chapter, but that's all of that that happens - the rest is chronological. As for why the miniseries started where it did, I speculate it was to give something to draw an audience from the beginning. Would child-Fosse taking tap lessons, not to meet Verdon for 25-ish years draw viewers? Maybe dedicated fans, IMO. Edit: Who was playing Chita Rivera and Paula Kelly in Hey Big Spender? The book uses the same title card format for chapter titles. I'll spoiler for those who don't want to know
  14. Just to correct some things I wrote back on page 9, the week Kennedy performed "This Is Me". The video clip I refer to here was actually from a workshop when they were trying to get the green light to make "The Greatest Showman". The "cast"... well, if Rebecca Ferguson was there she wasn't on camera. The people on camera sitting next to Hugh Jackman are all Broadway actors - (right to left, starting with the lady in red): Alison Luff, Jeremy Jordan, Cynthia Erivo, Caroline Bowman, Andrew Keenan Bolger, Brian Terrell Clark. Hugh Jackman and Alison Luff really get into it. And watch the piano player beginning around 2:00 - he *really* gets into it!
  15. Here's why I wrote that - After the 3 went through and both Kennedy and Sarah Grace were among the group left I thought the "race for the 4th spot" it was over. Either Kennedy or Sarah Grace (or both) was going to sing for a save, and (I thought) one of them was going to go thru to the final. It would be an upset if someone else did. And as it turned out SG didn't make the cut and K went to the final.
  16. Glad to see Adam have no reason to show up next week. Reagan was brutal - I don't think I know her save song. Is it supposed to sound like that? Good night for the country singers but that killed MaKenzie's chance I think. No way was Kennedy or Sarah Grace not going through to the finals. I wonder if Reagan or Sarah Grace have ever lost a talent show before? Seemed to go off-screen early but it was 49 K, 37 M, 14 R at the time. M had cut into K's initial lead quite a bit but not nearly enough. (R's totals went down 2-3% from where they started)
  17. Her lack of life experience is, to me, the reason for the bot comments. She's got the talent, sings the songs and hits the notes, but doesn't have the ability to bring emotion into the mix. It's robotic singing.
  18. Duet night, up and down as usual. The only one I liked was Kimberli Joye and MaKenzie. Sarah Grace was eaten alive by her duet material. Kennedy solo performance = return of the Kennedy-bot. She sang the song well, she hit all the notes, there was zero emotion. You want emotion in "This Is Me" go listen to Keala Settle, the original performer from "The Greatest Showman" (I recommend either the Melbourne or Oscar-cast performances). Actually, I found a different "This is Me" video (for me) tonight - a promo behind-the-scenes video clip of the first time Settle sang it live for the cast, during a script run-thru. The faces on the other singers performers, especially as she gained more confidence, came out from behind the music stands, and the entire song just took off, was something to behold. Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson were really into it too.
  19. Here's the text of what Kelly said (can't find it, but I think someone asked about it upthread... or maybe that was on FB. Anyway...) This is from an article at Goldderby.com titled Kelly Clarkson just proved why she’s the best ‘The Voice’ coach ever: ‘DeAndre, you sang the hell out of that song!’ “You know what, guys? I have been these contestants before, I know Adam and his heart and I know he loves his team. He feels really bad for Reagan. But I just want to say, DeAndre, you sang the hell out of that song!” [audience goes wild, Kelly finishes most of the rest trying to talk over them] "I know it’s so horrible that Reagan is not able to present herself, and I know that’s where he is coming from, so please know that. He’s bummed for her. Everybody did a fantastic job tonight. A really great job.” After Kelly said she'd been on "these contests before" she made reference to JHud having been there too. Obviously, that's not in this quote.

  21. Just over on The Voice group on Facebook (group run by NBC). Wow, 6K+ royally ticked off people over there. The comments are variations of what we've been saying here. Whatever he intended, I don't think Adam intended to stir up the beehive quite this much.
  22. WTF Adam? You're the king of bus throwing, and we know you have a thing about little girls on this show, but oh my gawd. Thank you Kelly for bringing some sanity (and you know it's bad when Kelly's bringing sanity). Any backlash coming next week against Adam (and Reagan)?
  23. Kennedy is arguably the best singer in the competition, but for me there's no emotion to it when she sings. She hits the notes, but it's so blah (Kennedy-bot?). I thought it was the same last week. Perhaps it's just her having not much in the way of life experience to hang her performance of certain songs on, as others of this season's teeny-bopper brigade have similar problems. All IMO of course.
  24. Really really liked Team Kelly's performance on its own merits, not as compared with Team Adam's mish-mash. I have to wonder if they changed something in the sound mix between those performances and the saves because the sound seemed to be much worse later. I couldn't understand Sandy Redd, it was very muddy. I couldn't understand Tyke either, but I decided it was him mumbling or whatever he's doing ("interesting song selection" indeed!) Lynnea, OTOH, I didn't think the sound was as bad. There's a couple people who got through I would quibble about, but it's personal preference. Of the bottom three, the right one was saved.
