  1. I'm one of the relatively few who stuck with this show until the end. Overall, I thought it was OK, but it doesn't merit a 2nd season. It's like the show couldn't decide where to put its focus (political farce vs. psycho-sexual romantic tragedy) and as a result the narrative was spread too thin. Expecting the audience to care what happened to these two terrible people might have been a bridge too far, too. Still, Kate Winslet's performance was typical, which is to say, excellent. And Matthias Schoenaerts did a job with the material he was given, where he had three stage directions (growl, bark, whimper). I look forward to them both being in other projects.
  2. But the look on Willa's face when she realized she may have to spend more time on the same continent as Connor - priceless.
  3. Roman has too many specific hangups to do that. Having random sex with lower-class women would disgust and terrify him. If anything, he would be a customer of an Epstein-like scheme.
  4. I found it satisfying when Tom slapped Greg in the bathroom and Greg slapped him back instead of cowering in fear. It doesn't change their basic dynamic, but it was nice to see Tom get a taste.
  5. That final shot of Tom and Siobhan "holding hands" in the back of the limousine - heartbreaking in a way neither of them deserve.
  6. According to the DVR schedule, tomorrow's finale is going to be 90 minutes. A feature-length ending. Lots can happen - I can't wait to see how they wrap all this up!
  7. So...what would happen if a large segment of ballots were destroyed before they could be counted in an election? I imagine there are number of possible solutions, if not scenarios, that could be used. Is that a state by state issue? I've been thinking about that a lot since the episode ended. No matter what happens, Kendall, Shiv, and Roman are going to be just fine. At no point will they ever need to abdicate and run for their lives, there are no guillotines waiting for them in the town square. Just like Roman told Kendall - "nothing matters." That's the nihilistic theme of the entire story.
  8. I found this episode fascinating in that we get to see what happens when the Roy kids are finally in charge. I mean, we know they're going to f*ck things up (and expect applause from their minions while doing it), but just how fast and how thoroughly will they do it? They're off to a fantastic start. Roman displaying all kinds of inferiority complexes through his new power to fire anyone with a vagina (getting back at Mom in his own unique way, perhaps...?). Kendall writing financial projection checks any conscious person knows for a fact he can't cash so he can once again snatch defeat from victory. Shiv gleefully doing Matsson's bidding because that's what she does for anyone who's a tiny bit nice to her, while inching ever closer to installing a top-notch and pricey S&M room in her condo. In some ways this actually could have been a pretty good series-ending episode. As it is, seems like things are lining up for either Greg or Tom to end up on top. I don't see a long-term sustainable future for The Three.
  9. The definition of a confidence game is when, before they get fleeced, it's the mark who thinks they have the upper hand. It feels like all three of the kids are sitting right in that position, money-wise (Kendall and Roman) and revenge-wise (Shiv).
  10. Matsson never sent anyone blood. If he did, he would never admit that to anyone in a position to use that info. against him. The playbook on the Roy kids has been out for a while, and the headline is "Easily Manipulated." Matsson's had these three clocked since the moment they answered the phone. He's a Logan Roy-level business genius/sociopath and he's going to get whatever he wants out of them.
  11. A couple of seasons ago I had it figured out: in an ideal world, Shiv would be CEO, Ken would be COO, and Roman would be Board Chairman, for exactly the reasons you wrote (plus, Roman has an intuitively strategic mind and knows how to read people). That would be the only way they could possibly co-exist. But of course, they won't.
  12. And yet he hasn't been on the job 10 minutes and he's already going behind Roman's back and blackmailing Hugo to his bidding. He's going to be a disaster as CEO.
  13. Watching Tom work the room using every trick he could think of to get back into somebody's good graces...so Tom.
