Getting to Genoa You All Over Again: Y&R Daily Chat

" I'm wondering what direction the writers are going to steer the Imani as the power behind Nate's throne story line - will she be victorious in her campaign to have Nate step-over Devon for leadership of Chancellor/Winters, or will all her machinations end in disaster? -

"Of course, if one insists on conducting business in coffee shops and hotel bars and lobbies and talk loudly while doing so, well, everybody is bound to hear it. Doesn't anyone have an office with a door more soundproofed than Phyllis' old condo? Or any doors with locks?" This is was posted in 2016 to the Pet Peeves blog, and I think it's as relevant now as it was then, which is why it's a pet peeve of mine - don't these corporate titans have homes or offices to discuss their personal or corporate business in? -

Because Victor, being the toxic control-freak pater familias that he is, probably already has spies in place around campus to report on Faith's every move, and he's probably already bribed her professors to report on her progress. -

Only got to watch half of today's show before the station broke away for King Charles III's speech - really, can anyone look at that whiner and take him seriously as a head of state, especially after his mother's success at the job - but it seemed to me that Victor was telling Nick that he'd visit hell upon the head of anyone who so much as looks sideways at Faith while she's away at college - maybe he'll send members of his crack security team to take care of them. -

Who cares who designed it or how much it cost, it's still a ridiculous waste of material. -

So who's the mysterious texter who was able to kill the article revealing Diane's secrets to the world, the one she texted back to that things were still precarious in GC and for them not to contact her again - and are things still "precarious" for her in the sense that folks in GC have yet to accept her as the changed person she believes she is, or "precarious" in the sense that she's trying to lay the groundwork for pulling of some kind of scam, and anyone finding out who her mysterious texter is would ruin her chances. -

The character of Chloe the buttinsky is becoming so tedious to watch, that I change the station whenever she starts in. -

I would really like it if Chance would just once tell Abby during one of her incessant "the Newman family comes first" rants that the only reason they're living in the Chancellor mansion is because he is Phillip Chancellor IV and as such, his loyalty is to the Chancellor family, with the Newman and Abbot families deserving of his consideration as his in-laws. -

What I've noticed is that it's the character of Diane who's written as the prime instigator of these exchanges. An on a different note, did Michelle Stafford have work done on her eyes between shows, because when she made her entrance on today's show, I almost thought a different actress was playing Phyllis. -

I can remember Eric Braeden easily making it through a lot more screen time and a lot more dialogue per episode just 3 or 4 years ago, but watching him fumble through today's episode made me wonder if the producers aren't going to gradually reduce his screen time until it amounts to walk ons every few episodes - I mean, if today's episode proved anything, it's that EB is having increased difficulty remembering his cues. -

After watching Abby show up in a daytime outfit that made her look like she was heading out to work her corner, I've finally figured out who does the women's wardrobe for Y&R - the same ones that do the nouveau riche inspired women's wardrobe for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. -

Nate believes his position as COO at Hamilton/Winters gives him the same decision making powers he had as Chief of Surgery, which means that he's stepping on the toes of the CEO, Devon. -

Tue. 8/16/2022 Really impressed with the improvement in how the Sally Spectra character is being written lately - she's coming across as a very centered and focused individual, and Courtney Hope is doing a good job playing her. Got a little nostalgic yesterday and replayed the final episode of As The World Turns on youtube, which made clear to me what I see missing in today's few remaining soaps, families in which the elders use their own hard-won wisdom to help their children, and grandchildren, manage the tribulations of their own lives - and when was the last time you saw a kitchen, the center of the home and the family, being used on Y&R, the characters all seem to exist on take-out from some upscale dining establishment. -

Even back in his "Rat Patrol" days, the German born Eric Braeden, under the name Hans Gudegast (birth name: Hans-Jörg Gudegast), had a habit of pausing between words and phrases, which I think may have been due to a need to mentally translate his lines from English into German in order to remember them, and then having to mentally translate them back into English when he spoke them. Plus, he turned 81 this year and seems to be expected to appear in about two-thirds of the episodes shown, which might be a contributing factor in his "running out of gas." -

Appropriate name for a corporation whose "executives" appear to put in 90 minute workdays, with the rest of their time being spent at some coffeeshop, restaurant or rooftop bistro. -

From the Wed., 7/13 episode: 1. I wonder how long it's going to take Nick to rebel against being his sister's gofer. 2. Imani has become the newest Y&R vixen you love to hate. I wonder what Nikki's private investigators are going to find out about how Diane Jenkins spent her time while everyone in Genoa City thought she was dead; is renewing her presence in the life of the Abbott family a way to hide out from enemies she acquired, as "Taylor Jenkins," is she being hunted by people out for her blood? -

The scene in today's, Mon. 7/11/22, episode showing the core Newman family, meaning Victor, Nikki and their children, Victoria and Nick, sans Nikki's least favorite person in the world, Adam, the family b*****d she'd gladly push off a cliff, celebrating with glee over Victoria and Nick's return to the family fold, and Victoria "sweetly" offering to speak with Adam when Victor revealed that he had quit his position with Newman Media and was leaving the Newman family in his rear view mirror, made me want to barf. -

"The office gossip at NE must be insane. From one day to the next the staff has no idea who's in charge.:" Admitedly, Y&R is a work of fiction, but who could imagine an actualy international corporation functioning this way - and the nepotism is beyond hilarious.
