  1. Thank God Mrs Fortune has finally shown up (if only fleetingly) and all of the twaddle about her being dead or gone can finally be put to rest. "Old friendships are hereditary" HA! Agnes is such a total softie! I lurve her. ADA LOOK AT YOUR PAPERS!!! Marion handled that well. I wasn't sure she'd be able to stop the marriage from happening. Frances was just as unsettling as always. Oh Mrs Fish. You are so effing amazing. Let's have tea together, dish about bitches, and be best friends. Call me! Peggy, good girl. Don't let that flashy man convince you to do something you know is wrong. Bertha! That was so kind of you to give tickets to your employees. I love watching people walk down steps in this show. Or walking up them. Whichever. I've never been so electrified by a full room as I was when they panned the Met. And .. round 2 to Bertha. OH SHIT. And she was the one who outed Turner. Perfection! Larry & Jack in business?? Love it! Oh yeah. Larion is coming. That scene with the women talking about Adas money was hilarious. They were so calm about it. Bring on Season 3 please.
  2. I sincerely hope they don't go this route because Peggy will end up duking it out with Armstrong, Weird Frances and Clay as my Most Disliked Character on this show. Affairs are my absolutely most hated storylines. I'm kind of shocked how few characters I dislike on this show. ETA: @BeatrixK Mrs Fish is SOOOOOOOO the shit. Her delight at the drama last night killed me!
  3. Alright. I absolutely teared up during Agnes & Luke's talk. Agnes is tough but she's loyal and very loving. And Luke's final talk with Ada? Oh man .. major tears. Such sweetness and love. I also loved Bertha & George's discussion about the opera wars. Their support of each other is wonderful to see. Mrs. Astor showed her soft, white underbelly in that charity meeting. That lady is S-C-A-R-E-D. Peggy - listen to your mother. She speaks sense. Mrs Fish is my spirit animal. Her love of drama is me. Damn. Is there anything Bannister doesn't know about?? Oh Larry. You're a good guy. And George! You helped him reveal the truth. Now secure Marian. Jack!!! Awesome!! Something happy! Oscar. You fool. You utter, utter fool. Not just yours but your mother's? How the hell am I supposed to wait a week till the next episode???
  4. Marion said it when she was talking to Ada about her marriage to Fortes.
  5. Probably not the only one, but my guess would be it's a minority. Personally, I like Bertha even with her flaws. Mostly because I can't remember Bertha ever being embarrassed about her humble beginnings. Turner is just ridiculous, especially with her lies to her husband about her former life. In regards to Ada and Forte, I don't see an issue with the speed of the marriage nor his possible motive for marrying her. I think it's all on the up and up.
  6. Jack's last name is Trotter. He said it last season when telling the story of his mother's death
  7. I know I shouldn't say this because it's wrong, but that kid's look is just off somehow and I feel vaguely uncomfortable watching her.
  8. That woman is easily the worst person on this show. I just want an anvil to fall on her head.
  9. First, I love this speedier pace. So much happens in an episode! ENID! That's as bad as Bertha and Gladys. These poor women. Also it would appear that her husband doesn't know about her past. That ain't good. I do wonder who told about her past even though it could have been anyone. It's not like she kept a low profile. Peggy is just too naive for words. Also I'm really not wanting her to hook up with a married man no matter how much they have in common. Thank God that Larry/Mrs Blaine story is done. It was ick. Ada's engaged!!!! That was so sweet. I hope she and Luke move in with Agnes, like a Gilded Age Three's Company sitch. Those previews make it look like the Dollar Princess storyline will certainly come to pass. I'm so glad the Russells reconciled. I don't like it when they're at odds. God help me, I even like Marian this season. ETA: I'm even riveted by John's clock storyline. I really want him to figure out the issue and become well-to-do:)
  10. He's not a fortune hunter. He's absolutely a product of his times. That class married within its class. Oscar is from an old New York family with money. He is expected to marry someone with money and a family name because that's what they did. He was actually going outside the norm by looking at Gladys as a possibility because she didn't have the name. So yes, when it looked like the Russells were losing their money, he bolted. After all her sweet personality would not be enough to get a man interested in her, especially without an old family name. Personally, I think what he said to her during the proposal was pretty true. He liked her and they probably would have had a pretty affectionate marriage with a nice friendship. I actually appreciated that we saw that Gladys had her own non-romantic reasons to marry and was ok with trading a great romance for laughter and her own home. There are certainly worse reasons to get married. Bertha and George were the outliers, being so in love as they are.
  11. I'm not going to talk up Jacobson's acting in this episode, but to say that we saw no emotion from Marian over the broken engagement isn't fair. She cried several times, even once during the ball when she realized that he had been planning to go to the ball with the Flaglers on what would have been their wedding night. Not to mention that it hasn't even been a full 24 hours since it happened. Give the girl some time. To tell the truth I assumed that when she showed such muted emotions it was for two reasons: she was still in a bit of shock and she really didn't have overwhelming heartbreak because SHE DIDN'T REALLY LOVE HIM. Never once - not even when they were making their final elopement plans - did she say she loved him. I think she got all caught up in his enthusiasm and just got carried along. Actually, how old is she supposed to be in this??
  12. I don't know. She should have been tickled with an Old New York, only son, only heir, hanging with Carrie Astor and Mrs Fish in Newport Oscar. But she said she wanted "better"
  13. I agree there are some loving marriages, but I will say this we have no clue if they started out loving or if that grew. Also, I think it's pretty clear that Bertha doesn't consider "love" an important factor in who Gladys marries and that she, Bertha, will be picking out the suitor. If they are following along the "dollar princess" angle, Gladys is doomed.
  14. My two cents: 1. Aurora Fane's look was a "poor Marian" look because now we have a second young heiress (one who is in society but has a scandal .. maybe) showing interest in Raikes. I'm speculating Raikes would be an acceptable choice for such a lady (attorney, knows the right people, and knows how to behave in society) if your daughter was tainted and "untouchable" by society gentleman. And I think Raikes would totally throw Marian over for a nice townhouse wedding present and a yearly allowance. 2. Oscar. This is an unpopular opinion but I think Oscar would be a good match for Gladys. Hear me out! Yes, he's gay and will continue to be involved with men but I think he would be kind to her and encourage her to find her own diversions. There's no way that Gladys will be allowed to marry for love. At least she can be with someone who would care about her as a friend and gain her her freedom from Bertha. Go ahead - toss some tomatoes at me 🙂
  15. I so, so, SO thought that L. Roy Dunham was going to be Milo and that the two of them would start a scorchingly hot romance for the final season. Also: mother fucking Kelly Bishop. Love it. Love her. In regards to Imogene popping up. I don't think I'd like to see her more than we do now. She's an accent, an unexpected pop (her "skip the bullshit" line at the Tupperware party had me guffawing.) but more Imogene would be too much.
