  1. I’d thought for most of the season that Marks had perpetrated the hack. Did he, or did he just mine it more throughly? I think Marks was originally interested in UBA for ego reasons but also saw it as a fat target for takeover and sell off as his problems at Hyperion got worse. I wonder if we’ll see him next season, claiming to be a reformed man. If there’s even a spark of realism, the merged networks will sell off half their broadcast spectrum for big bucks and then sort out between broadcast and streamer. Alex and Laura together in the teacup, Yanko and Chris on on the streamer? Meanwhile Bradley, on parole after a plea bargain, becomes a citizen journalist To me it’s pretty obvious that we’re getting Cory/Bradley next season.
  2. Chip’s shagging a subordinate, Bradley’s shagging a competitor, and Mia’s shagging someone whose employment relationship is unclear. UBA needs HR overhaul stat. Yes, Alex is being unrealistic and yet there is some journalistic integrity there. She’s been in the business 30-ish years and she was a heroine a few years ago. Her liaison with Mitch was brief and long in the past. Has she had a relationship since her marriage broke up? I could find a little sympathy for her.
  3. Is there the possibility of more than one Elias in other years as well?
  4. You’re being played, Alex. How on earth would someone get that photo? Paul Marx is evil and he’s behind the hack. The visit to Cory’s mother was excruciating
  5. I loved this. Great story, great casting, great art direction. Roderick trying to send Madeline off as an Egyptian queen was a great end. I have a hard time reconciling the Roderick who fell in love with Annabel Lee and who should have been a poet with the man who bricked up Gris.
  6. I don’t think Leo ever killed Pluto, it was a drug-endured hallucination (Monty, maybe?). There were no dead animals in the tub after Leo died.
  7. I find it ever harder to believe that Bradley Jackson is the voice that Red America will listen to. I actually felt for Cory in this episode. On the toxic island that is UBA, Bradley is the most toxic of them all
  8. “Alex Levy brought home the kill” Now that’s an ending. But does UBA deserve survival?
  9. This has been bothering me since it was first mentioned. Aidan sold his company to West Elm for big bucks? I refuse to believe this. Tell me that Aidan has a big workshop in North Carolina and an Aidan Shaw original is a must-have in the Hamptons and in Jackson Hole. Tell me he has a piece in MoMA. But that an artist like SATC Aidan sold out to West Elm? No. And this narrative choice was made just so Aidan could be rich, though the idea of Aidan living off Big’s money through Carrie might have given some good material. I think Aidan-Carrie is a disaster but obviously the writers don’t. I loved See a’s conversation with Carrie. Shockingly good writing for this show. And yet another reminder that Carrie is a lousy friend when she has a boyfriend
  10. Pretty sure we’re heading for a reunion of Che/Miranda by the end of the season. Che will be less self-centered and Miranda convinced she wants out of the dating world. I liked Aidan in the original SATC but thought he and Carrie made no sense as a couple. I don’t see how they make sense now either, particularly since Aidan now has kids as well as a dog. And I hope Kim C doesn’t come back. I shudder to think what these writers would do to her.
  11. I’m mostly watching for the outlandish fashions and this week delivered. How does Carrie store that enormous duvet she was wearing in her apartment? Vacuum bag? Poor Steve. I suspect he’ll be made into a villain over the division of the marital estate.
  12. His 180 on McKinney, recognizing his talent after studying the films, showed the extent to which he could get out of his own head when he saw what the team needed. A
  13. Re Agnes and McAllister: Agnes has a position in society. She won’t be cut. But she can be forgotten, overlooked. And she can’t afford that, because there’s the risk that Marian will be forgotten. Agnes needs Marian to make a good marriage, but it’s not just to satisfy her snobbery. I suspect that Agnes has only a life-interest in the van Rhijn property, and at her death everything goes to Oscar, who won’t give a rap about Ada. But Marian does, and a good marriage by Marian means Ada will have a home fitting her status. At least that’s my interpretation. I’d hate to lose Christine Baranski, but Agnes’s death would really shake up the status quo. I think the season will end with Gladys’s coming out and George’s arrest.
  14. I think it’s possible that Bertha will end up aiming for an English title, but I think right now what she wants for Gladys is not someone who has an in with the Astors but an actual Astor, or Schermerhorn, or Stuyvesant—the real deal. I think Bertha would open her door to Mr Raikes if she knows about his friendship with a young Schermerhorn. The irony is that Mrs Russell would not welcome the equivalent of a Larry Russell for her daughter.
  15. The Mrs Astors of this time would go to Paris, buy the latest fashions at Worth, then put them away for two years so they wouldn’t seem flashy and new-fangled.
