  1. Tyra will be regarded as the worst host ever. Good riddens As for Julianne she should be an improvement given her background but she does get a little nutty and not on a good way. I really hope Mark gets more work in choreography on this show. That is his strength and it’s really special to watch. He is as talented as Derek possibly even better in some pieces and good creative choreography is something a lot of pros lack. It can’t just always be the Derek show. With fresh choreo ballroom could go next level.
  2. I just can’t process this. Twitch was the one judge on this years panel who kept it real.He was the dancer who echoed the golden days of the show and gave us his all every single time. The show can’t be the same because for me he was the heart of the show, he loved it and respected the genres and really went out there to learn and perfect his craft. I’m richer for having the opportunity to watch his performances. With all due respect to his Allison, his family, The Ellen show and his various projects that celebrated them, I reflect now on Twitch, himself, the guy who had to audition more than once but never gave up on himself. This is why it feels so out of character that he would contemplate this final chapter. I know mental illness is a stealthy beast, but this blindsided so many including me.
  3. This Instagram post by Mark Ballas really sums up this season nicely. Because of Shy Charli it’s probably my favourite season for dancing.
  4. Baby Boom! How wonderful! Imagine Dani has been dancing since she found out opening night then did that insane Cha Cha bumper with Sasha mid season, not to mention the crazy tricks with Joseph. She says she’ll be back next season. Oh to be an elite athlete! By far my favourite pro for so many reasons
  5. He’s a showrunner I’m sure voting for a Bachelorette is in his shows best interest. He would be in a position to know how cross promotion of reality shows on ABC works, so yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if that information is widely shared with Tv insiders on the same network. Also another Twitter user who was at some of the tapings said the live show announced to the studio audience that viewership is 27 million a show. If this true and I have no idea if it is, the reach has increased enormously after moving to the streaming service, plus bringing in Canada and Mexico for the vote should have helped somewhat. This is the ratings of the Emmitt Smith years. Given last years finale was only around 6 million tops this was a power move by Disney.
  6. Hmm I kind of doubt it, unless Wit was having a lot of morning sickness, she let the cat out of the bag at just the right time. Allison Holker also did a baby announcement when she and Andy Grammer competed and hung in for another 3 weeks. Allison also had a young one at home so I lean towards happy announcement happy dance team. Any votes would be a bonus If anything I think Wit made adjustments to the choreo due to her partner’s visible pain in his knees in rehearsal
  7. Before anyone thinks this was a done deal the producer of the Bachelor franchise tweeted this out during the show - so basically the voting was not a runaway - If Gaby had a better night she could well have been the champ. IMHO Val once again shit the bed with the decision to do cell block tango and for me Gaby was 4th in terms of the freestyle. Bachelor Nation was voting their asses off. This makes sense to me, when I looked at Charli’s social media the majority could care less about DWTS much less vote. Granted all she needed was a portion to vote but it made it a lot closer than many thought.
  8. Thank you for saying that. It’s so true that many are introverts. I would never put myself in a class like Charli when it comes to dancing but she really spoke to me. As a child I was painfully shy but I really loved performing dance and it was an outlet for me for self expression.
  9. I’m so glad that a shy personality who let her dancing say everything won. The athleticism, musicality, the nods to the cartoon, to Old Hollywood the soaring up the stairs reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, the slower moving parts the changes in tempo it just had me spellbound. Mark out did himself as a truly fine choreographer, so different from Derek, his stagecraft isn’t about formations and angular movement, it’s more lyrical which is also so enjoyable. I loved this season because it put the emphasis on learning ballroom and Latin.and where excellence in dancing takes centre stage..I wasn’t sure about GenZ if they would even care enough to vote because they haven’t shown up like this in the past. If anything, Charli and Mark have proved that Ballroom and Latin aren’t just dancing for old people. When I danced Ballroom and Latin wasn’t cool for my youthful age group. Charli helped make it cool again. I loved that freestyle over huge personalities and over the top drag shows. The Drag Freestyle while cute is done better on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Incidentally Shangela has had 3 opportunities on that show to win and she didn’t. This was yet another opportunity for her but she fell short. Eastern block dancers need to learn to choreograph. I wasn’t in love with Gleb turning the entire choreography over to the contestant. There’s ringers and then there’s ringers. It definitely did not surprise me that Val had Jenna choreograph it was evident in the formation work that frankly was done better by Derek when he choreographed Bubles Highet. Witney choreographed another Wayne hip hop which was fine but expected. All in all I loved the season. Wayne Brady brought me back, Joseph Baena still left far too soon and Charli surprised me. She isn’t the theatre brat with the huge performance ability that usually turns me off dance experience. Turns out she’s just a sweet girl with a fantastic gift. I’m so glad she shared it.
  10. I absolutely loved Charli and Mark's freestyle. It was just gorgeous dancing very happy with the result. The Gen Z crowd came through! My favourite dance of the night by far. Wayne and Witney went AGAIN with hip hop- He could have been a contender. Gabby and Val that was kinda cringy. It proves that Gabby isn't as good as Laurie Hernandez. Shangela was as expected, loud and proud but really messy
  11. Charli isn’t trained in Ballroom which would definitely be considered cross trained for this show.
  12. Strictly Come Dancing hit a milestone when Craig Revel Hall dusted off his 10 paddle for Fleur East (she won xfactor a few years back and had a hit Sax) so she got a 40. Fleur did a Beyoncé inspired contestant’s choice dance and I thought it was great, Fleur really is inspired by Bey the costume the moves all on point. Mark’s mum Shirley is one of judges.
  13. Shangela has Survivor Destiny's Child and Call Me Mother... I loved what SYTYCD did with that song. Shangela has an opportunity here
  14. Lindsay said in an interview with US mag that her leaving was only temporary, and that DWTS was a part of her she loves the show and hopes to return.
  15. I think Charli is a sweet funny kid who is learning about showbusiness in real time. When she almost threw up over the Paso Doble, and we got to witness an odd look on her face when receiving her comments, that was someone with a bundle of nerves hoping not to make a mistake or take a big fall like she did in dress rehearsal. Everyone has a journey apparently on this show, so Charli's journey is to dig deep to believe in herself. I could see a progression in her from the Quickstep with some dance position issues and a visible frustration at the end of it to a magnificent Viennese Waltz with a look of humble thanks. Prior to the show she reportedly was frustrated with dancing, and she had taken time away from it. Anyone who has ever danced can relate. Thus, this could not have been a better partnership. Mark has been away from the ballroom for 5 years I'm sure quite frustrated with the show. and now he's back with crisp choreography rooted in the fundamentals with a partner who has found her mojo. If she decides to dance Ballroom and Latin in her future this was the show and the coach that helped her see it as a possibility.
  16. The funny thing about Charli is to me she’s a bit unremarkable in Contemporary if you compared her to Allison Holker at the same age. However, Charli isn’t cross trained but has been able to pick up the ballroom and Latin and has given some outstanding performances, which makes me think she really could switch specialties and try ballroom on for awhile. I should mention Jordan Fisher on tour. I got to see the DWTS tour in Windsor Ontario and what struck me was not just how good Jordan was, but Keo was sick that night and Jordan filled in doing all his choreo and working the pro numbers like he was part of the troupe.. Frankie Nuniz was on the same tour and yeah he didn’t fill in for any pro.
  17. I trained in Ballroom and ballet and there’s no question the dance styles have similar qualities, particularly for V waltz . I could never be the dancer Charli is, however. That’s a talent you can’t teach, but with the right coaching it can be channeled into something very special, imho.
  18. Yes. The Foxtrot is what brought me to Charli and Mark. To me she seemed like a talented dancer but would need more experience to really wow on a performance level. But she really dialed in on the Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble to the point where yeah she’s a good contemporary dancer but she could be a great Ballroom dancer if she ever wanted to go that route. It wasn’t until that stunning Viennese Waltz that her true potential as a ballroom dancer shone. And for me, that’s why she’s the GOAT of the show. As for Mark he has always been the creative one and sometimes the quirky just bugged me because it often hid flaws in the contestants technique. even though entertaining to watch. But Mark 2022 stripped back the theatrical facade and laid bare the technique. There were no shortcuts. I thought that Viennese Waltz choreo would have translated perfectly to ice dancing. The side by side twirls or twizzles on ice dancing takes years to perfect and even champion ice dancers don’t always nail it. The technique to get there is different but the intent is the same. She has the Jive on her Redemption Dance so she has a real opportunity to make it a showstopper like Jordan Fisher did on Mark’s choreo. Len called that dance iconic. Whoever wins, and it’s anyones to win I’m so glad I got to watch Charli and Mark who probably will fall short in the voting but will be my favourites for a long time.
  19. Oh no, you should have been around when I decided in season 10 that Evan wasn't living up to his potential and I switched support to Nicole Scherzinger after her Pretty Woman Tango in week 5. The hate on was fierce! But it's a situation where Evan could have been great but like Wayne, he divided himself too thinly between other work commitments and dwts. It becomes exceedingly difficult to hide the exhaustion. But hey, this season I was pissed when Joseph was tossed far too soon. He was a raw talent much better than Trevor or Daniel, but he didn't have any fanbase, so they cut him loose. So, support went to Wayne. When his dancing plateaued, I noticed Charli wasn't a typical ringer. She was focused on learning the technique and perfecting the technique. So that made me love her on a show where the dancing isn't the reason the contestants are showing up.
  20. Oh, and don't forget Maks and Meryl were in LOVE. All that over hyped bullshit is refreshingly gone with good ol reliable Trevor.
  21. Nah. I refused to watch that season because I knew Davis would win. She dances like an ice skater. She doesn't have the feet that Charli has
  22. Correction. it's not two pros, it's a competition dancer who wants to become pro and during this show Charli has grown a lot under Mark's teaching. She's so much better than I thought she was going to be. She's probably the best dancer this show has had
  23. Charli isn't ballroom trained. That's why the judges are so astounded at her ability. As I've been saying no one who has dance training who has come on this show has ever performed as well as Charli. It's so great that Len got to see a dancer who took his breath away before he retires. Jordin Sparks fans would like a word.
