  1. I went out and bought the Captain America: The First Avenger because of this show. I wanted to see Peggy Carter in action again.

Hey - that would be a great advertising promotion - "The First Avenger - prequel to the renowned Agent Carter" LOL

  2. Well, Operation Paperclip lasted for a long time after the war, well after when Phillips, Stark and Peggy founded SHIELD.  Neither Howard nor Peggy were co-founders of the SSR; Colonel Phillips was its commanding officer, and he recruited Howard Stark.  Peggy joined SSR as an agent early on.

I expect Thompson to get his comeuppance next week as the promotional photos have him in Russia with Peggy and the Howlers, and he sees the respect the Howlers have for her.

  3. Hopefully these lies mentioned in that last clip is what Stark and Jarvis were discussing by phone at the end of the first episode, so we don't have to go through this again, at least in this miniseries :)  Of course, she'll have to ream Jarvis out as well...

  4. So three episodes into the "prequel" mini-series, there are some potential continuity problems with the one-shot.

[Mild spoilers for the Agent Carter mini-series below, but I think they've pretty much all been revealed in publicity.]

So the mid-credits scene of the one-shot is sometime after July 5, 1946 - the date the bikini was publicly introduced.  (I am assuming that scene is the same day that Howard called Flynn.)  Peggy is in New York (same as in the mini-series) in what appears to be the same office as the one-shot.  Except there has been a complete turnover in personnel, with the exception of Peggy.  I wonder how they will explain that - maybe because of them going after Howard Stark (and his loyal butler) so vigorously?

Since according to the one-shot Peggy has been at work at the SSR New York office for 3 months.  That's not a lot of time - at the beginning the mini-series, Peggy had been there for at least a couple of weeks.  (And she had known her roommate Colleen for a "few months", implying that Peggy was in New York well before she started her current SSR position.)

So in the next 11 weeks, Peggy needs to clear Stark's name well enough so that Agent Flynn acts like nothing ever happened to Stark when talking to him over the phone and following his orders, Jarvis went back to taking care of Stark (which explains why Peggy didn't contact him) and they cleaned house at the SSR New York office.

Also, why couldn't Colonel Phillips get Peggy a better position in the first place?  I mean, during the war, Phillips sent his "best agent" (Peggy) to rescue Dr. Erskine before the first Cap movie.

  5. It seems Lucas' mom is pretty trusting of the Matthews clan.  (I don't say "mom and dad" because I am not sure his parents are living together at the moment - it would explain a lot.)  When it turned out that the "long game" would be played, he had to have called his mom.  So Mom's okay with him staying (up) all night with a girl that she must know he's smitten with?  Even chaperoned by his teacher, I see this as a big stretch.  (I don't include Farkle in this because his dad has known the Matthews most of his life, and probably realizes that the girls - despite what they told Stuart in a previous episode - just see Farkle as a friend.)

  6. Okay, this is from http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/12/the-spoilertv-daily-news-roundup_20.html:

Girl Meets World - Episode 1.18 - Girl Meets Master Plan - Synopsis

    Friday, January 16

    Original Series - Episode Premiere

Girl Meets World "Girl Meets Master Plan"

    (8:30 PM - 9:00 PM ET/PT)

Maya is celebrating her 14th birthday with Riley and the Matthews but is struggling with the fact that her mom probably won't be able to join them. Meanwhile, Corey and Riley devise a plan to setup Maya's mom with Shawn when he pays a visit.

Guest Starring Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter

Maya will be 14???  Even if this episode is set in May (which is unlikely), it's a year to old for a 7th grader, and they have established that the students started this season in 7th grade.  Furthermore, they have stated that Riley's birthday is December 8th ("Home for the Holidays"), which means she just turned 13, as she was definitely 12 at the start of the series.  So long-time(?) best friends Maya and Riley are almost a year apart in age?

Another scary thought is that they have SORASed* the kids already, meaning this year covered both 7th and 8th grade.  It would explain both Maya's age and the face that the class is graduating - I mean, it seems like middle schools usually end in 6th or 8th grade, not 7th.  This post is from Weasley Fan on the Home for the Holidays thread:

I think Josh is in 10th grade, and the show said Maya is in 7th grade. According to the GMW writers on twitter, Josh is three years older than Maya. He will be a senior in high school when Maya is a freshman in high school.

Okay, on Home for the Holidays they implied that Josh was 16 by having him with the car keys.  (That would also be a SORAS, since Josh's original birth date of Valentine's Day 1999 is well-established from the original series.)  So I'm either thinking that Josh is now in 11th grade and Maya/Riley in 8th grade or that they are keeping Maya and Riley in 7th grade but making Maya a year older for a possible Maya-Josh ship (ugh).

Keep in mind that Michael Jacobs has no problems with SORASing characters: on BMW, he had Cory, Topanga and Shawn skip two grades (and two years in age) while keeping Eric at the same age.

    * SORAS stands for Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soap_opera_rapid_aging_syndrome

  7. Excellent episode.  I hope that they can bring Rider in for more episodes.  I'm glad he figured out Minkus connection without any prompting, and the clone line was priceless.

I also wish that they could have done the last part of the Shawn-Maya conversion better.  I think what they were trying to do is that when Maya mentioned the dad's second family to Shawn, he thought she knew (from Riley) about his dad's second family, and then when he figured it out said "oh".  (Although Chet's second family was before Shawn's not after.)

Well, this Uriah Shelton (who played Josh) really nailed it; Peyton Meyer (Lucas) had to look at this episode and be a little concerned.  Since Josh is 17, they could have him start college at NYU next year and be frequently recurring.  But no, let's not go there with Josh and Maya.

Finally, I agree that Eric and Morgan not being mentioned was disappointing, but this does allow the writers more flexibility when if they are able to have either of them guest star.

  8. The way Harley treated Cory as a youngster, constantly picking on him and threatening him, that is what I consider bullying.

This brings up a theory that I have, that Minkus was dropped before the beginning of Season 2 of BMW in order to have Cory be the one who was bullied when Cory and his class entered 7th grade at the (John Adams) junior-senior high school.  This time, Riley and her class is already in 7th grade, which I thought was so they wouldn't the same problem with having the teacher change schools with the students as they twice had to do with Mr. Feeney!  So I'm not sure what they would be doing having these students graduating to another school.

By the way, speaking of handshakes, the aforementioned BMW season 2 opener had one of Cory and Shawn's more memorable ones:

(They hadn't met Harley yet LOL)

Finally, remember that Lucas just moved to NYC from Texas a few months ago.  He bonded with this group (Riley, Maya and Farkle) immediately.  Remember he was there at the end of the first episode with the Matthews family and Farkle when Riley and Maya had their "rite of passage" going unaccompanied on the subway for the first time.  I found that at the time to be plot-convenient (and yes, I remember that Riley and Maya immediately crushed on Lucas and they would want him there) but in retrospect, it seems to have been consistent with the dynamics of the friendship these four have developed.

  9. I think Jesse Metcalfe did the right thing by not commenting.  Cidre made it clear Christopher was really dead, so he wasn't part of the show anymore.

A few weeks ago, Cidre made the comment that if Dallas wasn't picked up, she might release the already-written scripts for the first two episodes of Season 4 - I'd be curious to see them.

  10. Katherine Wentworth is not dead, and Cidre has both apologized to Morgan Brittany for the error and hints that she (Katherine) may be returning next season.

I assumed that they had killed off Katherine between series for plot purposes; it now seems that someone involved in production saw Katherine getting killed off in the same 1985 episode as Bobby and did not realize that it was part of Pam's infamous dream.

  11. That's why if we MUST have Nicolas on Season 4 that Lucia comes and puts her elegant foot straight up Elena's ass.

Cidre said a while back that they were interested in bringing back Angélica Celaya for Season 4 but had (correctly) heard that she had gotten a role that would likely keep her too busy...it turns out that it's on NBC's "Constantine": http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/constantine-angelica-celaya-cast-as-zed-on-nbc-drama-1201261906/

(Random note: did Elena's hair grow four inches between the time she was puking and when she walked out to the parking lot in time for the explosion??)

Must've taken a while to get that $100K from TNT for the explosion scene.

  12. Is the governor really going to appoint a madam as the railroad commissioner?   That was a bit of a stretch to me.

Well I don't think the governor is aware of this aspect of Judith's life, or he thinks she can keep it secret.  Of course, her predecessor (yes, Bobby!) did some pimping to keep Ewing Oil clients happy, before he returned from eloping with Pam (in the 1978 pilot) and decided he wanted to move into a management position.  In fact, Bobby and Judith may have employed some of the same women!

  13. Um...I have a different interpretation of what Cidre said.  The interviewer asked about “JR’s son with Cally” (the baby's gender being  established as canon towards the end of the last season) along with Lucas and some other characters.  Here is Cidre’s reply:

Cally who was in the J.R.’s Masterpiece episode; we wanted to her on the show and the casting director couldn’t find for some reason and then because it’s a very small world it turns out that she’s my neighbor who I’ve known for ten years.  And she did say once; when I started working for Dallas, she said she used to be on the show.  She probably even told me who she was but it didn’t stick with me and yes, she literally she lives two houses from me!  So we thought about her, we thought about her child.  We talk about Lucas and the people who are out there and we have plans you know to get a few of those for next season. (Boldface added)

Now it may be that Cidre is going to do a gender switch, but I don't read that into the fact that she didn't say "we thought about her son" instead of "her child".  It sounds like that they wanted Cally because she was JR's other wife, and at the time they initially were trying to cast her Cidre didn't not even realize her neighbor had played Cally.  Just my interpretation :)

  14. With all of these other things, the message from JR that John Ross had saved has gone overlooked.  Apparently using previously-used audio from Larry Hagman, it said something like "Bobby signed the papers.  Welcome to Ewing Oil.  I'm proud of you."  I'm not sure of where to fit that message in the Dallas timeline though...

  15. John Ross learns a shocking secret about J.R. that sends him halfway around the globe in search of a surprising new cohort.

Any guesses on this?  I would think it's either a Ewing or a Barnes (who will side with the Ewings in the Ewing Global fight).
