  1. If you want to see more of Tyson and Rachael check out this seasons (over now so on demand?) Reality Marriage Therapy show - that's not the title I can't remember the title:)    I was surprised they were on it as the were the least "REALITY TV CELEB" and so the most normal.  I only caught bits of it, I wanted to watch those two but couldn't stand the other contestants.    Anyway Tysons thing was not getting married although he said he was 100% lifetime committed to Rachael.  But she wanted to get married, that was a big thing....so apparently something changed.

  2. I keep thinking that what you are dictates your personality. Monroe seems to be a real exception to his kind and even he has to consciously work at it. The mice seem to be universally incapable of being anything but frightened. If I were a rabbit person being hunted why wouldn't you get together with other rabbits and set a trap and take out all the hunters? Because you're a rabbit?  In that sense Chloe was indeed acting a little out of rabbit character when she fought back.  Obviously not 100%, nothing is,  I think my theory holds true.

So if Juliette is now a Hexenbiest, and a super powerful one, it stands to reason that her personality will change, she is and will become a different person. She'll get more heartless, more manipulative or whatever a hexenbiests basic behavior and character boils down to. Witch right?  She's already killed without having any qualms about it which I think is a good example. Unless maybe she consciously fights it.  Which could be the story arc....lots of out of control actions and reactions while she fights it, then figures it out in the end.  Or is she going to become Glinda (the good witch of the south)? Or the good hexenbiest of Portland

I think Henrietta's control of Nick was sort of a cheap shot by the writers that I'm not buying. Adelind would have done it if she could have. Adilind's mother would have.  No where has there ever been a hint that any Wesen could control a Grimm unless it was by serious drugs/spells etc.  If that were the case wouldn't hexenbiests be used against Grimms all the time as weapons?  Wouldn't we have heard about that by now? It seemed so easy for her, she said it was easy.   That was a real misstep that took me out of the show.

I suppose Henrietta is going to use Adelinde's pregnancy for her own goals, whatever they are. Poor Juliette, what's she going to do when she hears about the pregnancy? She had a pretty hard time with Nick sleeping with Adelind even though she knows that Nick thought he was sleeping with her. Someone is going to use that pregnancy against them somehow.

And I wonder if somehow the baby thing and the pregnancy thing doesn't join up...FYI I am not a fan of the all babies all the time storylines either.  But I suspect that if any showrunners are reading boards they probably stick to the ones run by the network, or tweets, and I am always amazed by the number of people who love storylines that I hate (usually shippers).

Peter Cottontail - worst boyfriend ever.  Who lets their girlfriend walk back to wherever when there is something running around the woods?

  3. I'm not a super fan of Carolyn's or anything but I'd at least like to see her on the jury, that would be disappointing.

Please please let Rodney go home next!

Since Hollywood cherry picks shows from foreign tv all the time - has survivor done this with challenge and twist ideas from the foreign Survivor shows?

  4. I think Mike has a shot at this.  He can fit in with the guys, isn't hated by the women, Lindsay seems to think he has a shot.  Not a super threat like Joe, not seen that way as yet anyway.

  5. I think Probst, above all else, is a producer of Survivor.  His primary concern is to get people to tune in.  So he says every season is the best one (who, but the biggest fans, would watch a season the host calls mediocre?) and any episode that has something different happen (medical comes in, someone is blindisided, someone does something that offends some of the others, there is a big argument, gets hyped as a highlight episode.  It also explains rather liberal use of "blindsided" - if the vote was a surprise to anyone, then encourage the audience to remember it as a blindside.  He also has to "create" excitement where he can - asking leading questions and making insightful (maybe that should be incite-ful?) comments at TC, or spouting things at challenges that may help the losing tribe catch up a bit (all those comments that make the tried ant true fans say "Shut up, Probst").  Of course, his favorite players will be the players that did something memorable or gave funny talking heads - those are the players that helped the ratings and made him money.

Yes.  It has been said that TC's are much longer than shown and that yes Jeff has to work on getting not just memorable moments but talk about what's happening.   Its not "his fault" or bad thing - everyone playing would know that the absolutely best strategy is to just keep your mouth shut at tribal, period.  Would anyone watch?   Don't we all think man I can't believe you said that, don't talk at tribal!  I wonder if they make them sign something about that?  You must participate in certain ways.

Max said in his interview that he turned to Lindsay during voting and said "its me" because he could tell when someone only wrote 3 letters vs. 5 or more.  She still seemed surprised tho.  I always suspect editing, the eye rolls, the looks of surprise.  They can capture them at anytime during those 2 to 3 hours and then edit them in.  The gutted look after the look of surprise...that I think was real:)

  6. Its just so weird that someone that smart AND SUCCESSFUL in their work life could be that clueless.  Is it an act?  I'm not a threat?  There was a comment somewhere about her real life co workers who said something to the effect that she really was sort of over the top but they respected her.  I think it will be interesting to watch and see.

  7. I don't watch other reality tv but Survivor at least has certainly developed what seems to be a very tight knit chummy group of alumni who can, if they want, leverage their alumni status to continue on as a reality tv personality to less or greater extent.  I  think that a mega fan like Max wants to win a million but even more so  wants to be a memorable Survivor personality, someone to remember and be on the show and most of all  be a member of the club.   I think that clouded his game play.

Re Max, in his exit interview he said he thought he was in a super tight alliance with Carolyn.  But when he got Joaquin and So to write her name down as the decoy for the blindside she got really mad and from then on was after him but he didn't realize to what extent.
So Carolyn.........was playing GRUDGE Survivor as much as anything when she choose Max over Shirinn (according to Max but I think there might be some truth there).

Speaking of Joaquin, Max said it was his strategy to do everything he could to marginalize Joaquin so he couldn't worm his way back into an alliance after So left.  Part of that was using Shirinn to antagonize him to blow his cool and keep him off balance. Well now he has new alliance possibilities...........Rodney being prime.  Joaquin has a blue collar background, is really just a blue collar "boy":) from Long Island and I suspect knows and understands and maybe is sympatico with the Rodney's of the world.  If this keeps Rodney around I will be super pissed.

Not sure where Tyler fits into all of this, Max did say he was super smart and a threat.

In his exit interview Max is pretty upfront about his game misfires although he still seems a bit egotistical.  Still he had proactive actions going on and reasons for what he was doing and did have a game, some of which sounded good but he didn't seem to be able to think his ideas through to some of the consequences.  He really wanted Joe gone as the biggest threat in the end.  But he figured he would have to take out his alliance first starting with Will.  Good thought, got blindsided by his misread of Carolyn though.

Lindsey said in her interview that Rodney was 24/7 non stop yammering about "hating kids, hating women, hating gays and anyone not like himself" that she just couldn't stand it anymore.  She considers herself as someone with a strong moral core.  That by keeping quiet and letting that bigotry go unchallenged she was doing all those people a disservice and doing something personally unethical or not true to herself, or something to that effect.  The god and fire comment was just a way of saying - hey we have been doing work by building and tending fire it's not just happening by itself.   Really poor example or word choice to point that out, used to dramatic effect by the producers.  She seems to like Max and thinks he has a good chance at winning.

I also think Lindsay sounds like being sleep deprived and hungry, more than others who are in the same boat, really affected her ability to temper herself.   Being able to cope with that is a sort of Survivor skill that people only have so much control of.  Max said Carolyn has some sort of crazed mad energy where she would stay up all night tending fire, not eat and still had energy to spare.

IDK if its fair or not but I'm disappointed in Max and Kelly.  I think they could have at the very least done more to shut Rodney up or better gotten rid of him.  Kelly in particular is playing the game by being low key but I understand Lindsey's reaction to that sort of all over bigotry more.

I need brain bleach or some sort of erase function for Max's warty foot.  That was disgusting and I am apparently in the minority that I would not be happy drinking water out of that pot boiled or not.  Yecch.  Btw than and pooping in the water....IDK I never thought of myself as particularly squeamish about dirt etc. .

Hali's comments re Max's foot - Max could have refused to put his fee in the pot and asked for someone to urinate on his foot instead.

Not all alpha hens go the full alpha and quit laying.  But really that is a lot to know about chickens.  Most people (All adults?  No?  Really?)  know that roosters make noise, don't lay and eat food.  To not eat the rooster first was just plain stupid.  (Jeff specifically said "laying" chickens).

Re someone's post up thread; Yes I remember being aghast by Malcolm's remark but....a man saying, "hey I'm going to use my good looking maleness and charm" to get over on the women contestants is no different than Parvo's sex kitten approach (which I hated),  I'm more than half convinced she slept her way to the top (James?).  Something I don't think we have to worry about Rodney doing LOL!

The males of the Blue Collar group are making Blue Collar's everywhere look bad, thank you Jeff Probst.  Don't tell me that Blue Collars are all bigoted brawn.  You need brains to properly construct things, be a good plumber, electrician, seamstress, hair stylist etc. And I know plenty of blue collars that aren't bigots.   And Joaquin's comments are just laughable since his family is blue collar and he is such a baby in his first just out of college white collar job.

I really really can't stand the Rodney's and Dans (and Joaquins?)  of the world.  They will always cock block women, gays, minorities  and anyone else not like them in job settings, conversations and any and every opportunity they get.  They will complain about equal opportunity as the reason they don't get promoted. Sexual harrassment is just a tool for women to lie about being raped to screw a man.   A contractor like Rodney will blow off any woman's requirements because he doesn't really listen to women,  or complaints about his work.  They will unfortunately all stick together in an alliance and that is really making me sad for this season.  In my opinion they are far more numerous out there and dangerous to women, gays, minorities than the Vince's of the world.  I want Rodney and Dan gone 3 episodes ago.  I'm  with Lindsay, they may be perfect goats but it's just unconscionable to keep them around.  Its also sad to think of them as part of the Survivor alumni chummy club.  And from what I hear they are all quite close now.

I would love to see Max join Sierra and Tyler and turn on those two.

Was it Lindsey's exit interview where the interviewer said something about the season not quite living up to Probst's hype and she? said wait, it gets better.

  8. Its already been a few days since I was on Sucks but if I'm remember right someone over had some reason to believe (there do not seem to be true spoilers)

that Joe/Jenn/Hali were at least final 4 or 5 if not final 3.  I can sort of see that if they all make the merge as that is a tight alliance.  I'm not sure I'm seeing any other alliances that wouldn't be vulnerable to flips etc.?

  9. I can't remember the exact word So used in an interview where she was asked to use one word to describe every team mate but it was something like psychotic.

I would be totally distracted and loving all the bird and wildlife (not the bugs, crabs and snakes tho).

I think she's still a bit of a mystery to me.   Is she in an alliance with anyone?

  10. "I get along better with guys than with women" does not mean "I dislike women", though.

True.  Although women who say that often mean that.  Probably not in this case though.

  11. I give Nina the benefit of the doubt.  Pre-merge/tribe challenge, you do want your entire tribe to do well and everyone get along which is what I think she's saying when she says everyone on the tribe should be made to feel welcome. You'll do better in challenges for all sorts of reasons.  It seems obvious that is what she considers important pre individual game play.

When Nina says "treated special" I think everyone here zooms to the extreme and is delighting in thinking the worst of Nina.  There is MIDDLE GROUND.  Treated "special" can mean something as simple as - talking to my left ear/implant or speaking while looking at me.   And being deaf is a disability in a game where people are constantly scheming under there breath with each other.  It has got to feel very isolating and paranoia creating right from the get go which would make you very vulnerable to someone like Vince playing on that if that is true.  Good game play actually although no, not particularly nice.  But if I were trying to keep the tribe from spinning out of control, working together in challenges etc. I would go out of my way to make sure the deaf person feels like they are hearing what everyone else is hearing.  What is wrong with that?  Is that so hard?  Is that not part of the social game?  In that sense I think she has a point.

I have to wonder if Carolyn really just sat around and made it totally obvious that she wasn't ever looking for the idol.  Seemed a highly edited piece of film - everyone out looking at the same time and only Carolyn not.  I'm sure over the few days that there were people coming and going and I'm betting it wasn't as obvious as all that.

Dan's whore comment strikes me as someone trying to seem young.  I see that "you're a whore" in a lot of comedies.  Just because you see it on reality tv (housewives etc) and other movies doesn't mean it will fly in real life.  An easy mistake to make when hungry, tired etc. but still a bit of a mistake.

So with 6 on tribes, when will the merge happen?  Will that be part of next weeks 2 hour episode?  A team challenge, one vote out then merge?  Seems like there would still be too many contestants. What is the aveage number of contestants at merge?   At any rate will Will as the next vote off no collar should they lose again that alliance has a good chance of moving forward whole if the other tribes lose one or two of the next few challenges.  What are the other alliances that are as strong?

  12. I feel a little bad for the losing 3 on the No collar tribe.  The losing 3 maybe didn't play the smartest and wouldn't necesarily gone far anywhere else,  but I think the makup of that tribe, and the bad luck of being on it are also factors.  I'm not seeing very good game play from those 3, more like a freaking car crash everyweek but they will likely survive to the merge and get a whole new life and chance at the game, not having done anything particular to earn it.  Joe certainly doomed them in the challenge this week.  I can't believe he's said in interviews that he knows deaf people when he asked her that question, and then couldn'tfigure out a better plan for the challenge.

    From Cochran's interview with Nina

Cochran: Throughout your time on Survivor, you seemed frustrated that your tribemates were alienating you, but we didn’t see many attempts from you to ingratiate yourself with them. Did you view it as a lost cause? And what do you think the reason for your “outcast” status really was?

Nina: Well, the thing you don’t see as the audience is that I did try to work my way in with them. There were several times when I would talk to Hali and Joe and offer to help them around camp, and they’d just say they didn’t need my help. I’d go into the ocean to strike up a conversation with some of them and try to be social, but they would look at me and walk away. And it happened right from the start. When we first got to the island, Joe asked me whether I would even be able to participate in Survivor challenges, and I said “Yeah.” Then he asked, “But what if we have a challenge that involves calling out?” I told him I’d be the caller. I was never able to recover from that — he put the seed in my head that he doubted me, and that it was because of my hearing. Even going into the game, though, I figured they either weren’t going to like me because of my hearing, or they’ll vote me out because they’re afraid I’d get sympathy because of it.

Cochran: You mentioned Joe’s uncertainty about your value in challenges; this obviously calls to mind last night’s immunity challenge, which Joe had you sit out. What was your reaction to being told you shouldn’t participate? And was there a reason why, once you saw your tribe struggling, you didn’t hop in and try to make the best of the situation?

Nina: When Joe first suggested I sit out the challenge, I actually thought his plan might work. When I saw it wasn’t working, though, I kept telling Joe, “Let me help you! Let me help you!” But Joe and Jenn just told me to “Go over there” on the sidelines. I tried helping, but figured that — since I’m already on the outs — I might be better off just doing what they say and following their orders. When they finally said I could come over and help them plug the holes, it was too late.

  13. I think its scary to diagnose someone based on 15 minutes of highly edited tv.  He's a narcissist, he's a stalker, he's dangerous.  WTF.

A million is at stake.  People are going to feel paranoid, people are going to want to make sure alliances hold.  He got no sleep.   So he got intense a couple of times (you can be sure the editor's didn't use the boring footage).  He's California with a capital C and maybe a bit of touchy feely spirtual douche.

But to KNOW he's dangerous?  That's just ridiculous.

  14. Interesting that.  It sort of answers my question of what happened to Shirin as the boot.  I couldn't figure out how she went from the first obvious choice due to her losing the challenge for all of a few seconds before it went to...C?  and then So.

This sounds like Shirin was doing some lobbying and stratgey whic was never shown.

I'm not saying he's not a bit of a douche although in the article below he says not.  I'm saying he looked to have a little game, a sort of stealthy quiet game.  But its early yet.    I did not know he's from Long Island, no accent.

    Cabana Boy!

Souberbielle, 27, director of marketing at Five Towns Neurology in Lynbrook, will compete on the White Collar team, going up against the working-class Blue Collar team and the free-spirited No Collar team when the series returns on Feb. 25, CBS announced Wednesday.

Souberbielle -- who attended Valley Stream Central High School through junior year and Lynbrook High School his senior year -- comes himself from a blue-collar family. His taxi-driver father and manicurist mother are the parents of four other children -- younger sister Romina and younger brothers Kaylen, Fabian and Santiago -- and he has two stepsiblings, German and Gaston. Growing up, his own blue-collar jobs included working as a cabana boy for three years, he told Newsday in an email via CBS.

"If I go to an interview, I get it," the University at Albany graduate says on his introductory "Survivor" video. "Largely in part because I can just talk my way in and out of everything. . . . I'm the alpha male, usually, and everywhere I go, I try to be," he says -- adding, after a moment's consideration, "No, I am. Always."

  15. I thought he was sort of funny in that scene w naked chick and Tyler(?).  Just in the way he was dressed.  I mean I get that all you got is what you came in, but why would you tuck in your brooks brother shirt and put your belt on to stand around on the beach?  It made him look oddly nerdy which he has not seemed at all.

  16. So far he seems to be a dangerous sleeper.  The way he manipulated So into deceive and then even more importantly telling the lie and being the front person for it all, taking all the blame and in a very chill understated manner.  Also, at least give with what has been shown, he didn't jump into the fray and defend or over defend himself when So revealed info at tribal.

Sometimes least said soonest forgotten.  It can be best to let people come up with their own mental scenarios to forgive or forget if that's what they want to do anyway.

I'll be interested in seeing if this first episode event comes up later down the road.

  17. I think some of the over the top assessments of Vince of somebody just short of Ted Bundy are wayyy over the top.  I was hoping he would stick around just to see how much so.  I would have loved to see people have to eat crow.    Sure he is sort of "california" and may be sort of insecure.  I think the editors love to create a twitterfest of someone and are probably really upset right now.  He certainly had good reason to be paranoid, that tight team of 3 was a game threat.

His interviews don't sound bad.  If someone on the show were from NYC and were a hot dog vendor would they be getting all this disdain?  That's basically what he is only its Cal and coconuts.  Shrug.  I'm not a Vince fan per se but the almost salicious joy in hyping and making fun of a few edited moments is disturbing me.

    • Love 1
  18. I'm not a particular fan of Vince but I think some of the knee jerk assessments of him have been  way over the top, as I'm sure the editors hoped.  I was hoping he stuck around (1) so we could see what he was really like and whether he deserved all the disgust (if editing allowed) and because I think it was sort of a bad move for Will who I like.  I think if I were out there and saw the young kids forming a tight bond it would worry me too.  Its obviously something you need to be worried about and for Vince to be castigated so thoroughly for being a bit paranoid....  His interviews sound pretty sane if a little "california".

I think Jenn and Hali not only have no idea what its like to be deaf or how poorly hearing devices really work but haven't really tried to figure it out.  Should Nina be specific and tell them?  Yes.  Maybe she did and they didn't show it, maybe she didn't.  Vince, in interviews, didn't slam the girls about when asked but did say they didn't seem to try to speak directly to her face or implant like they needed to, so clearly he figure it out.  They need to be tight as a team till the merge.  For them to just blow off team relationns because they have an alliance is poor play.  I'm rooting for Will and Nina although I suspect my good will won't be enough.

Am I the only one disgusted by Dan? pooping in the water?  I realize its the ocean and all but still.  For urine sure, but there are all sorts of back eddy and weird wave actions (hence that piece of driftwood that hangs around forever), do you really want to be lounging in the water and have a baby ruth moment?  Dig a hole in the jungle please!
