Sorry if this is obvious, but what was the thing that Max drank at the end?

Can someone please tell me why Max and Isobel assume that they have the same mother? Yes, they were adopted together and raised as twins, but why would they just assume from that that they are siblings in their own planet also?

Can someone explain to me why Max and Isobel think they’re even related or have the same mom? I know they were adopted together and raised as twins, but how do they even know they have the same real mother? Why would they assume that? Michael and Isobel could have been the real siblings or even Michael and Max...
