  1. Yes - I noticed that, too!! And I know the actor IS a Scot!
  2. Although there were a few things about S2 I enjoyed, it doesn't compare to S1. I think there was a scramble to come up w/a new love interest & story line for Charlotte when TJ decided not to return & it just didn't work for me. Apparently, the regiment coming to town was part of the original (before it was cancelled) S2, so they had to rewrite to somehow TRY to make it work w/Colbourne. It would've been MUCH more interesting - IMO - to see Sidney tangle w/Colonel Lennox...... but it was not to be. 😢 Lockhart was also part of the original S2 - wonder how that would've played out with SP? Loved seeing Esther, but w/o Babington, her story missed a lot. The only highlight for me was Alison & Fraser! Yes, their love story was ridiculously short & unrealistic, but they were so cute together & had so much chemistry - I just sat back & enjoyed it! Not sure I will even bother with S3.
  3. Just fyi: Esther & Babington are NOT coming back according to JY - feels her story is done.
  4. "Young said. “I think Esther, where we leave her at the end of Season 2, I think she’s got everything she’s ever wanted. She’s happy, married, and now she has a child that she adores so I think that’s the end of Esther’s story as far as I’m concerned.” Really, without Babington, where could her story go? And - she will be far, far away from Edward.
  5. I agree! I'd love to see Lady D reading a letter fr/Esther & saying how happy she & Babington are! Baby George is healthy & growing and... surprise: Esther is again expecting and this time, everything is fine!! (Just because her 1st pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, doesn't mean she can't have a successful one - it happens for many women!)
  6. According to JY, this is her last episode - she won't be back in S3. And without Babington, I am OK with that. Heck, chances are good I won't be back either... lol!
  7. I think to the viewers, everything seemed to go very fast - the passage of time was not very clear. Sometimes I thought a scene was the same or next day, & a character would make reference to weeks gone by!! By today's standards, meeting someone, falling in love & marrying within months does seem too fast - but maybe it wasn't for that era.
  8. I loved the story line of Esther & Babington in S1 & was happy to see her character again, but this plot line was bad. I almost think it would've just been better to have Lady D say she heard fr/Esther & how happy she & Babington were & that they were joyfully awaiting the arrival of their 1st child. Just poorly done! If they'd wanted to keep Edward as a villain, there are many other directions they could have taken!
  9. And I JUST read - Esther isn't coming back! Another reason not to watch S - at least for me!
  10. I want Babington to come in and punish the bastard for doing this to Esther!! This was very poorly written!! Babington was so in love w/Esther that - business or no business - had he: 1) NOT been receiving her letters or 2) been getting letters fr/her pleading for his response, his reaction would've been to move heaven & earth to get to her!!! Writes REALLY dropped the ball here!
  11. I still crack up when the ghosts use the term "sucked off'! I guess it's because they use it so clueless & innocently!!!
  12. Doubt they'd kill him off -so I'd be OK with a recast as a last resort.
  13. To be perfectly clear, I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING! I'm just talking about what I have read in many different places. And what I read was (paraphrasing): we would not see Mark Stanley in season 2. And we haven't. Season 3 wasn't mentioned. So who knows.........
  14. You are correct - season 3 was completed months ago: once they got the go ahead, they just filmed straight thru! Everyone can be 1000% sure Theo James is not in it, nor is Leo Sutter (young Stringer). As to whether or not Mark Stanley (Lord Babington) will put in even a short appearence, I haven't heard. He is the only character - at this point - I'd be ok with a recast.... if just to complete the story line.
  15. My personal opinion is there will be many happy endings at the end of season 2 & a couple of things left 'up in the air' as an incentive for viewers to return for season 3. JMO. I do wish I cared more what happens w/Charlotte & Colbourne, but I just do not 'feel it' with that pairing. Happy for those that do.
  16. Lennox was involved w/Colbourne's wife Lucy - NOT his sister. Just FYI. :)
  17. Just FYI - it was CGI'd - the balloon part. Basket was real.
  18. I SO agree with you! Sadly, I think from everything I've read & heard, Sidney is REALLY dead!! Theo James was committed to other projects & actually said he was satisfied with how Charlotte & Sidney's relationship ended. Didn't sound interested in revisiting the role: "Furthermore, head writer Justin Young discussed Theo's exit during the same panel. "Theo made it very clear he didn’t want to come back, so we had to think [about] how to engage with that. Obviously, we couldn’t recast because that would’ve destroyed the integrity of our world. It would be implausible. So we thought we need to make clear to the audience right from the beginning that he’s not coming back," he said, adding "and we need to let the audience grieve along with Charlotte." I would have been VERY happy with young Stringer, but that actor too, had taken on another job. ☹️
  19. Is anyone else feeling that season 2 may not be as satisfying because the writers were forced to change the story? I think they probably had written a screenplay for 3 seasons & then it was cancelled. ☹️ Then - it was un-cancelled!! Yay! But the main character (Sidney) for the 'happily ever-after' can't/doesn't want to come back!! And the alternative 'happily ever-after' character (James Stringer) doesn't come back either!! Oh no!! What will become of our feisty, young heroine??? So, they have to quickly re-write 2 seasons of her story and it just doesn't ring as true. At least not to me. I will still watch, but I would really, really like to know the original story & ending. Oh well......
  20. I know he plays Captain Fraser. Another poster suggested that Frank Blake - who plays Captain Fraser - should have been cast in the role of recluse father Colbourne. I merely pointed out that Mr. Blake - at only 25 - was a bit too young for that role.
  21. I think that that at 25, actor Frank Blake - may be a bit too young to be cast as Colbourn. .
  22. Oh god no! Then Edward will never leave her alone!
  23. Thank you for that clarification, shapeshifter! I vaguely remember that conversation now. I seem to remember another conversation between Esther and someone (maybe Clara?) where she explains how they came to be step-siblings. Did both of their widowed mothers marry Sir Henry's brother? Guess I will have to watch season 1 again to figure it out. 😊
  24. Yes - I was referring to their relationship on the TV series. They share a step-parent - Lady D - but are from 2 different fathers.
  25. I believe Esther and Edward are step-siblings - different parents completely. Lady D's husbands were widowers w/children when she married them. At least, I believe that's how it was presented in season 1. Feel free to correct if I am wrong.
