I forgot about this topic for a while - one of my favourites.

I recently saw "Can You Keep a Secret?" a film adaptation of a Sophie Kinsella novel.

I liked it!  It's not the greatest movie ever, trust me, but it was exactly the type of movie I like to watch and am always in the mood for.

I rewatched "Fools Rush In" - I liked it better than I remembered, or maybe I am just older now.  Chandler (cough Matthew Perry's) character is kind of a dick, but I still think it works.

I also rewatched "The Whole Nine Yards" - quite funny!  Liked it!  The sequel was atrocious though - Don't bother!  I also like "Three to Tango" to complete a trifecta of Matthew Perry comedies.

I saw the movie too. As someone who has read the (great) book, so much of the humor was lost in the film adaptation. The cast was changed up in considerable way too. If you liked the movie I highly recommend reading the book it's an easy read and a lot of fun.

  2. The scenes with just Bob and Abishola together are so charming. Their accidental meeting at the bench at the end of the episode was the highlight for me.

I find it interesting that Abishol and her Aunt think so differently. Her aunt only wants a man for Abishola for the financial aid it would mean for the family, but Abishola seems to want to be someone she actually likes. But if they are of the same culture shouldn't Abishola have similiar values too where she is primarily focused on a "husband" from the point of view of him being a provider, not a love/soulmate she actually has to like. I read a book about african tribes before where the women thought similiarly to Abishola's aunt and laughed at the american idea that you have to love your husband.

I just finished the whole season and I have to say I liked it. I don’t know how they’re going to continue this story, but I’d hate it to finish with bob in prison for something he hasn’t done.

Magnolia was annoying to me in the first season, but she was amazing this season.

I wouldn't want to see Bob work against Patty the show is at its best when they are together. But also there are no more pageants for Patty to participate in so if there is a third season it would be very different.

  4. I sure do hope we don't see Mary's annoying jerk of a son after this episode. Gosh, what a horrible person. I was rooting very hard for Bash to win in their brawl.

Also, I know we are supposed to root for Anne and Gilbert to get together, but Winnifred was just adorable in this episode. All her scenes were very interesting.

All I can think about the hot tub was how it's going to ruin the flooring. Why didn't they put it in the backyard?

I can understand them wanting to protect their skin from the sun.

I'm surprised Adam assumed, in this day and age and at Bonnie's age, Bonnie would change her last name because they got married, and I'm glad she didn't and look forward to hearing the conversation between them about it when I get to this episode, because it sounds good.

Adam didn't assume it, in the beginning of the episode when they were in bed Adam said "it's not a big deal for me" it was Bonnie who it was important to. The issue wasn't that she didn't change her name, but that she lied about it.

I don't mind the three of them sharing the apartment, but, I remember on the last show of last season that Wendy mentioned that she was living alone. Maybe, at some point she and Christy could rent an apartment together to share expenses.

Wendy lives with 2 other nurses. Christy tried living there but they were not considerate enough of her needs.

I can understand the decision to eliminate the kids from the show and focus on Christy, Bonnie and their friends. That being the case, however, they should have had Baxter and Candace move away somewhere with Roscoe. Instead we actually saw Baxter last season at the car dealership where he works when Christy went to see him, and neither of them even mentioned their son. That was just odd.

On another note, I don't understand why Bonnie and Adam are living with Christy. Adam had his own apartment. Wouldn't they rather live there for the sake of privacy? It's possible Bonnie has to live there because she's the building's super but she could still perform that job if she lived elsewhere. If nothing else, Christy could move into Adam's apartment if he intends to keep it.

Adam sublets his house for extra income.

Hmm, I don't remember Dina ever mentioning Colleen before this episode. If it's something that's been a running gag it went completely over my head.

It was in that episode where they had that steps challenge and the rivalry with the Belridge store got started because of Amy and Jonah creating those fake twitter accounts.

  11. Honestly, this show just keeps knocking it out of the ballpark. How do they do it? I loved this one so much, I can't even list all the reasons. First of all, Wade's kids are adorable. The group just discussing sex for the whole night was hilarious. And then the husband pretending that he invented the dolphin yoga pose! I loved it all. I need this to be renewed when the time comes.

I totally agree about Abishola being rude and nasty. It's way more than a "little" bit sad.

I realize this show is supposed to be an "equal opportunity offender" when it comes to racist jokes-- but fat older white men seem to be fair game for every possible type of cruel treatment-- like [supposedly humorous] race-biased "comedy", repetitive fat jokes, jokes about greedy money-grubbing relatives with blatant plans to take advantage of the fat old lonely white man, and everything else).

There are some points you have made.

I will keep watching though, besides this and The Neighborhood there is literally nothing good on Tv on Mondays that I am aware of. And I find this show to actually be more charming than The Neighborhood.

I wish they would give her a little more personality but I wish the people surrounding her would stop the "bow and be grateful a rich white man like you" narrative. This show could be a lot better if they weren't so interested in everyone repping for their culture except poor Bob.

Looking at the episode descriptions, looks like that will stop next week.

Carrie definitely hooked up with guys who weren't super wealthy from time to time, but over the run of the series I think all of her serious boyfriends were well off. Big, Burger, Aiden, Petrovsky. I don't think money was supposed to be something she consciously cared about, but subconsciously I think it was probably a concern because she did spend so much time travelling in moneyed circles. Really all of the women did.

Berger was not well-off at all. In fact, the entire reason their relationship went downhill was that Berger was a failure as a writer and couldn't handle Carrie doing so much better than him and then that brought out his insecure side. He then became ultra sensitive to the smallest of criticisms even when Carrie said something only as an off-handed joke.

I always laugh when someone says Carrie was into Big because of his money (or that she was a gold digger in general) because it is so obviously not true. Those people simply just need a re-watch because they clearly did not understand Carrie's personality.

Also, Aiden. Carrie had no idea AT ALL about Aiden's financial state, it never came up. (and why would it, it is not something you ask). She was surprised when Aiden mentioned that he was able to afford buying the place next to Carrie's to extend her apartment. So no, the fact is Carrrie was not thinking about money when choosing her men. And if someone thinks otherwise, they have not been paying attention.

  15. Calvin is a good father for Grover, helping him fit in without the over idealistic world view of Dave. I hope the show continues in this direction where Calvin can serve as a positive male influence in his life. Even in that kid where Malcolm's shoes were stolen by a 10  year old kid Calvin eventually gave the child solid advice.
