At MIT my boss had visiting students from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris every year. One year we had an especially delightful lad named Lucien. When he and his fellow visitor came by to say good bye at the end of their term, I asked "Can I hug you?" because he was such an adorable lad and I'd really miss him. And he responded with a huge grin and an enthusiastic "YES! American!" I've never forgotten that. I guess the French aren't as huggy as Americans are.

I am 70. I think I am correct in saying that we are all far cuter than poor Mom Greg. But having Greg underfoot has probably aged her.

Thank you! The cardiac procedure is outpatient and he'll be able to work the next day. The bile duct thing will be surgery, and hopefully will finally fix the problem.

About the same, thanks for asking! Mom isn't eating much and sleeps most of the time. We have a pretty set crew of lovely care ladies, and my brother loves them all. He's doing much better now that he's able to get home every day, do his thing, and get a good night's sleep. Mr. Mostly is getting cardiac catheterization next week, and will need some attention paid to his bile duct later on in the month, which will hopefully sort him out. Fingers crossed!

And her attitude is piss poor. Who is she to lecture him? "this is normal life. you've never had a normal life". There is a lot more to normal life than swanning around in Shitville, Jessica. Get over yourself.
