  1. If I wanted an edgy, dramatic and ultimately pointless musical, I'd pull out my Dancer In The Dark DVD.

Wow! What an awesomely esoteric (and oddly apropos) reference! I love it!

And Rachel/Lea Michelle is cleary the Selma/Bjork of the show....

That said, I can't bring myself to get any more worked-up (I haven't been truly UPSET about Glee in 3 seasons) than I already am. (Also, I think RM should go back under the bridge he came from and stop trolling for reactions from amongst the few people still watching this crap-fest!)

  2. I'm torn about Cody,

Yes, to an extent, BB is all about "making big moves", but it's also about doing what's best for your game.  Maybe waht's best for Cody's game is playing for 2nd? (If taken to F2, I do think there's a slim chance that he might beat out Derrick, given the jury this season....

Is what's best for his game trying to get out Derrick? It might be in the best interest of the HOUSE, but I don't think it's in Cody's particular best interest. From everything we've seen, the only two people Derrick seems committed to is Cody and Victoria. And thought both Nicole and Donny offered an alliance, that seemed like a last-ditch effort, and I don't think they would be as loyal to him.

Could Cody have maybe talked to Derrick, tried to get him opnboard for booting Frankie? Perhaps.  But it does make sense, in a way, to boot the "Easy Targets" first.  EVERYONE seems to want Nicole and Donny out, so why not solidify your "Good-guy" status further? Cody has been (arguably) the least offensive player of the game this season.

Eitehr way, the "best game" for the players doesn't always mean the "Most Interesting Epsidoes" for the fans. But any game-based reality show can havde that.  Remember the BostonRob season of Surivivor? He OWNED that show from the first episode, much like Derrick has this show.

  3. SUMMARY: A scientist, Dr. Mora Pol of the Bajoran Science Institute, finds a life-form in the Gamma Quadrant that may be related to Odo.

I loved the Dr. Mora episodes; it's a shame there weren't more of them during the run.

This was such a nuanced portrayal of both Dr. Pol & Odo; neither were entirely "right", but neither were they "wrong".  I thought both the script and the actors excellently captured the love/hate relationship that can fester in families who don't take the time to understand each other.

PS: Could a Mod, delete the thread I started with the wrong episode title? Sorry!!

  4. Thanks!

I should've pursued my dream of being a comedian (or maybe a Sci-Fi writer!)

I remember reading an article some time ago about how TPTB weren't that happy with this episode, and they they used the "UNiversal Translator" glitch to heighten the tension.  WHich would would have worked, if the Skrreians hadn't turned out to be such collossal ass-hats!

I'm a little disappointed Sisko dind't play a larger part in this episode, this would have been a really good nod to his beginning to accept the title of "Emissary".

  5. I thiought Chris Sarandon (Who I will always remember from the seminal 80's cult-horror flick "Fright Night"!) was utterly wasted in this episode.  While this episode wasn't bad, per se, it just lacked any dramatic tension.

I always thought Quark needed a foil (other than Odo) to bring him out.  If they had made Martus more of a threat, and appear in more than one episode, they might have been able to cobble something interesting together, but the "Glowing Luck Balls"? Not doing it for me.

  6. Good points!

I also think this episode shows that Ben (and to a lesser extenet Jake) are both still very much under the shadow of Jennifer SIsko, even after all this time.  I think this episode, by the end, really starts to break this pattern, but they do it in plausible way by indicating that there was never REALLY a chance for Fenna/Ben in the first place.

  7. While I agree that the proposed plot idea sounds beyond wretched....

I will be happy to see Max Adler back on my TV screen again.

And (not that it will happen) on a purely shallow, non story-driven note, I'd also like to see the return of Grant Gustin [sebastian] and Nolan Funk [Hunter.]

Now, THAT was the demographic I thought they were after, and they just lost them.  Oh well.

    They just lost them?!

  8. Aye, Wolverine was, is, and continues to be over-exposed. ("3 months" to die? Yeah, right; he'll be dying for the next FIFTEEN months.)

Of course, Punisher and Venom were similarly over-exposed for many, many years, but thankfully Marvel did [laregly] learn from THAT debacle.

I'm not normally a Deadpool fan; I've read sporadically over the years, and have been reading the newer stuff on and off. But I'm actually kinda liking "Draculas Gauntlet", and I loved the "Deadpool Max" series. (I thin that was the name of it, right?)

  9. SUMMARY: A mysterious woman, Fenna, catches Sisko's eye during their fleeting meetings.

Funny, I found this episode much more palatable now, on the rewatch.

I remember REALLY disliking this eposode when I was younger; I guess alot of it is my gorowing up and changing, and valueing other things now than I did back when this first aired.

While not executed perfectly, this was a great insight into Sisko's character. both for his obessiveness about things once he's fixated (which has manifested before and will again), and his loneliness as a single man and father. (Which I -totally- have way more empahty for now than in years past.

    D'OH!

DOuble post. Would a mod kindly delete the other copt of this thread?  Thanks!

  10. I got the impression that Dukhat genuinely respects Odo and his commitment to fair-play and morality, and I think he also likes the fact that Odo doesn't know-tow to him. (Much in the same way that Kira doesn't.)

As we rewatch, I'll have to see if there are any scenes in future episodes that back that up more concretely.

  11. I too just laughed out loud seeing Cody [hit himself]for the first time. How embarrassing.

Ditto here.  I’ve said it before, but I think Cody is getting the winners (or at least F2) edit. I was actually shocked that they even HINTED at the Cody/Christine ickiness.

I can't stand how Frankie jumps around and screams like an ass every time he wins something.

    Such an ass!

Victoria didn't take Julie's bait and so didn't reply "Frankie telling us his sister was Ariana Grande" when she was asked what was the most shocking thiing which happened in the past week. And I think I spotted Frankie shaking his head at her.

I loved that. And you just KNOW Chenbot was in the background all “She went off script! Does not compute!”

  12. Wow!
What a bust “Team Amurica” is turning out to be. (Of course, I hated the whole concept to begin with….)

    Man - Zack's DR was...raw.  I was taken aback

Wow. Agreed.  I think Zack TALKS a much tougher game than he actually possesses.  I actually can’t help but like the fruit-loop dingus!

Christine is just a ridiculous hag.

    Agreed.

Oh, well I am at least happy Frankie's "Big Reveal" fizzled.

Oh, big time! But then, I’m not sure what he was expecting… Not sure the rest of the Hamsters constitute “Big Sis’” fan-base.

And, after Otev, I’m SO ready for the Zingbot.

I still think Cody is getting a stealth edit, (seriously, I think even Victoria has gotten more screen time than him!), leading me to believe he’s going to win, or at least be F2.

  13. Curse you!

That never actually occured to me....

Though, to be fair, my one nitpick of DS9 is that (Right from the beginning), they often wrap episodes with a neat little bow, while not addressing some of the niggling issues they bring up. (To be fair, DS9 is one of the best serialiezed show perhaps ever, so I cut them some slack in that regard.

  14. Then Frankie continues lounging the HoH bed...and Christine goes off to presumably cover the witch-like features of her sea hag face.

Bwah Hah Hah.  You owe me a new keyboard, BeatrixK.
And I’m totally loving the nicknames you guys are giving Victoria.

Christine is one of the worst human beings who has ever been on this show, honestly.  She has zero redeeming qualities.  She has no game, she's mean, she's two-faced, and she's basically cheating on her husband.

WHile I'll agree with almost all your points, but that last point is debatable (unless I missed something).  But she is absolutely getting a better edit on the show than she deserves based on the feeds!

Couldn't have said it better myself.  He [Frankie] is completely full of himself and needs to grow the fuck up.

    Agreed to the Nth degree.

  15. Episode threads for 208 & 209 now posted.

As always, thank to everyone new and old who is still following along. I love reading comments from all of you on what episodes you liked/didn't like, and why. AND I've learned a few things along the way, as well!

  16. "That was for you, Grandpa! That was for you Ariana! Here's to team Grande!" and then "I think it's time to tell the house my big secret". Um, Frankie? I think you just did.

F** you, Frankie, with your fake **ing fakeness!  Everytning this tool does is so freaking calcualted, like he doesn’t have an honest emotion in his body.
And will anyone care when “the big bombshell” is dropped?
Which of these remaining hamsters is likely to listen to Ariana Grande??

Well, that should have been beautiful but like always, Frankie. Ruins. Everything. Caleb should have just taken the one chain and held it instead of giving Frankie a chance.

Caleb, Caleb, caleb!  Why did you not play and sabotage the game?? At least play to lose, if nothing else!

[snip]It's pretty obvious the competition wasn't rigged. [snip]

    Much.

And, CBS? Enough with the pimo-o-mercials.  I know it happens every year, but I still hate it.  And this is particularly egregious because football has a sizable built-in-audience, and I ‘m not sure what the crossover is between BB and “Thursday Night Football”.
