  1. Absolutely worth $6. (I'd also reccomend the first game and the book series, as well. All the stuff set in the "Witcher World" is pretty compelling, actually, IMO.)

Be advised that it's a fairly mechanically intense game, however.  You have to manage melee weapons, signs, traps and assorted other mechanics while moving about. (THis is particularly intense in combat situtations.)

  2. There was an interesting comment on the DVD commentaries about how that was really purposeful, too.

How they introducded the "Dominion" name in a FERNEGI episode so that people would write it off as a throw-away.

Only to bombard them 12+ episodes later with this episode.

  3. Even with the PS4 now gaining dominnce, still some great games available for PS3.

I would recommend "Beyond: Two Souls", "South Park: Order of the Stick", and "Puppeteer". (The last is particualrly creative and inventinve, and one of the little-known gems of the system, IMO.)

  4. To my recollection, Martin Short has alwasy been s****** and annoying.

But this show does nothing to help get him out of either of those categories.

Everyone on this show is so wooden and unnautral. Which is a shame, cuz they're all funny in their own right.. Just not on this show.

This show gets like ONE more episode to show some improvement, or I am done.

  5. That's becuase the photo-shoots/challenges have become increasingly low-rent and cheap/cheesey. (The "SpyderByte": and "Frozen" shoot seemed especially low-rent, though the hair-extension shoot was by far the WORST.)

I miss the days of having ACTUAL photo-shoots, where the models were given actual intstruction/commentary to help them improve their perfromance, rather than just being screeched at and given abritrary directions.

I liked that Miss J. was able to contain herself for the judging, and not leap across the room and kick the living shit out of Denzel (Which you KNOW she was contemplating!)

As an aside, was it my imaginaton, or was Yu Tsai the photographer who got the Nick Jonas "Flaunt" magazine spread that went viral last week? If so, I take back every bad thing I said about his screechy lttle self, and am now insanely jealous....

  6. It's biggest issue might be that the initial ratings say it lost quite a bit of Family Guy's audience.

I don't think FG and Mulananey have the same target audience at all, so I would have expected that to be the case. (Though FG hasn't been consistently good and/or funny in YEARS.)

But even so Sunday seemed like a really bad place to put this show to begin with; Fox has had the "Amimation Domination" thing down, it seems silly to break that trend now..  And with the other Live-Action shows on Sunday, this show could just get lost in the shuffle.

  7. Oh, this show. THIS SHOW!

I was literally yelling at my TV this episode.

As a gay man myself (though considerably older than WIll), I totally empathized with him; it's tough feeling totally ill at ease with yourself, and then finally gathering the guts to come out to family and friends. Then, to go on a show where he should be able to finally be himself and feel included, and face more bullshit bigotry?  That's GOT to suck. I was SO glad that the incident was not white-washed and was addressed at judging. (Though I think Denzel should have actively gotten the boot; why a physical confrontation judged differently than workplace harassment? BOTH should be a ZERO-TOLERANCE policy.)

And, on that note? STFU, Denzel. You and your pathetic-ass beard-weave (and they're beating THAT horse into the ground, aren't they?) can get the hell off my TV screen at any time.  And take your skank-ass, immature, jealous "Girlfriend" (or whatver you're calling her) with you.

Mirjana has just been downgraded from "Low-Class" to "No-Class"; I was so gald that Raelia called her our on her BS antics!

Where was Matthew during the "Everyone makes WIll feel better" sequence? I would have though he'd be the first one there to help out his friend...

  8. I love John Mulaney's stand-up.

But this pilot was a disappointment on so many levels; John's delivery was just.. off? He seemed stilted and wooden. And it was trying way too hard for a "Seinfeld-esque" vibe.

I'll stick with it far a few more eps, if word is that it gets better.  BUt I hope they utilize more Elliout Gould and way less Martin Short in the future. (Seriously, have none of them seen "Celebrity Game Night"?)

  9. Truly scaring your audience? That's a REALLY hard thing to accomplish, and it gets harder every day as people (especially kids) get more and more jaded every year.  True fear-based gaming relies on more than just buckets of blood, or sudden "Boo" moments; it needs to be something more personal, and built into the thematic core of the game.

Personally speaking, I will, WITHOUT FAIL, take a carefully crafted surivival-horror game over any of the mass-market blockbuster games that they churn out.

Try playing "Dark Corners of the Earth" and tell me you're not COMPLETELY freaked out by it!

  10. Ah,  yes.

    The Mirror-Universe saga!

It's funny; people seem to either love or hate these episdoes. (I fall into the former camp.)

I can get why people might not care for them, though.

Am I misremembering, or do I recall reading an inverview that MirrorKira was much closer to Nana Vistor than regularKira?  (I know there was the whole big Siddig El Fadil/Nana Vistor scandal arouind that time, right?)

  11. I found the college-roommate subplot much more interesting than the "Main" story.

    I hope there's some carry-over for that.

And I enjoyed Maggie Q. getting to be kinda badass, and Dylan McD. getting to be a little creepy-intensive.

But, overall? The show was just so-so. I'll give it a few more episodes before making a determination to keep or dump.

  12. I bought the "Mega-Man Classics" set (which comples teh first 8 MM games), since it was super-cheap.

And I realized that my refelxes are NOT what they were 20+ years ago....  I beat most of these as a teenager, and I'm hard-pressed to get through a single-level now.

    It kinda made me sad.

  13. Right now though, I went with Playstation 4, because I was underwhelmed by Xbox One's features.  Right now, the selection is low, but hopefully it will be building up soon.

    My thoughts exactly.

I'm not a "Shooter" guy, so the PS4 seemed the better choice.  360 (and now XB1) really seem to focus on that genre, for the most part.

And? Watch Dogs: Press "X" to hack!  That bit alone TOTALLY drew me out of the game. (IT's actually a running gag amongst our gaming group now.)
