  1. To be fair, we don't know what's in Marlena's advance directive. It could be a simple "DNR," but it could also be more specific than that. Since we haven't read it, or had anyone tell us explicitly what it says, maybe it does specify "no intubation." I still think that the docs should have been more detailed about her prognosis (which seems too dire for the actual situation) so that Belle could make a better informed decision, but I don't really have a problem with the way it's being portrayed.

I also thought there was some sort of time travel going on at first, but how would the guy from the lodge have recognized him?

IDK. Maybe they knew each other before. It's a small town. Or maybe he travelled to the FUTURE?

    What is mime sex ?

You really don't want to know. But here's the answer:

    Spoiler

Hope thought Zach's father was Stefano  who she'd had sex with in a submarine (when she thought she was Princess Gina). But then it was retconned so that Bo, posing as a mime, had sex with her that she didn't remember.

That's a fair point. I don't think a show like this can demonstrate, with any great accuracy, just how people would survive if the situation were real and not staged for the cameras. The participants are influenced by their awareness that it's not really life or death. Sawyer and Richard's discussion about the morality of kicking Matthew to the curb takes this into account for sure.

Which makes it that much worse. They KNOW they're on television, and that no one's life is in actual danger, but they don't care that they look like selfish assholes.

    A season-ending quiz! There's only one question, but it's a doozy of a headscratcher.

You're a maker who has made...um, something that makers make. Dayna says that she's "seen this before." Does that mean that:

    a. It's a too conventional and even clichéd?

    b. It's ON TREND?

    If Dayna likes you it's b, if she doesn't it's a.

Kelsey-they kind of did a number on her this season. I didn't feel like there was anything in her trainwreck of a storyline that would lead to her being put in charge of anything. I kind of hope that next season she crashes and burns, and Diana Trout steps in to save the day.

Diana-having Kelsey promoted above Diana was distasteful to me. I understand that most people think publishing=editorial but.....blergh. I want to see the competent, 40 something woman rewarded, damnit. Not that I dislike Kelsey-I just don't see how she is qualified for this.

She's SO unqualified to run a major publishing house it's comical. AFAICT, she doesn't have any employees (other than Liza) that she supervises and knows nothing about the finances of the company. She has inappropriate relationships with her authors and coworkers, which have had a negative impact on her career. She seems to have editorial talent, but that's not what it takes to run a business.

Not that Charles was good at his job (which he inherited from his father), but at least he knew enough to get the funding needed to stay in business.

Kenzi irritated me big time.  When she first came ashore, all she could talk about was how she didn't want to be alone and how she desperately wanted to find another person.  So she took off through the jungle and was so happy! when she found Robbie.  Then after 2 days she just packed up and took off with an explanation, a good-bye, or a kiss my ass.  Not nice.  Robbie really wanted to be with another person.  I feel sad for him.  I hope Kenzi didn't take all his snacks.

I don't think she abandoned him at all. I'd be willing to be that she strolls back at the start of the next episode. Needing some "alone time" does not mean she's not coming back.

  8. So the female guard who won "Fantasy Inmate" may have actually caused it. When she put Barb and Carol were in AdSeg together, they must have cooked up the revenge plan on Frieda. Too bad for them that Ruiz developed a conscience (or just liked kickball too much) and short circuited the gang war.

  9. If Victor doesn't want it known that he's responsible for the drugs, he shouldn't fire Theresa. Jenn is already suspicious of him, and even dumbass Brady is starting to catch on.

And Eve is crazy to tell Chloe the truth. Girl can NOT keep a secret. She'll be blabbing to Lucas (he's still in Salem, right?) in a heartbeat.

Gabi needs a snarky friend who will give Abigail the side eye and not drink the “poor little Abigail” koolaide.

Calling Ann Milbaur. She already hates Abigail, and she's really good at snark.

I think that it's the starch that is too high.  I was surprised that after all that worrying about the potato flour the judges didn't even remark on it when they tasted it. It was a few bakers later that I realized they'd already judged that one.

In the US, we have "potato starch" (which is what I think they were using here) and "potato flour" (which is basically ground up, dehydrated instant potato). The former is used a LOT in Passover baked goods (or, at least, the ones that don't have matzo meal or "Passover" flour) and you don't taste the potato at all. It's rather devoid of nutrition, but that's true of a lot of gluten free flours.

Abigail can't possibly even consider an abortion because she is such a "good" Catholic!... even though it's ok for her to cheat on her husband, and try to kill people...

Did Abigail convert? I don't recall that. I think she's Protestant (like the rest of the Hortons). But "good"  girls on Days don't get abortions --- look what happened to Mimi when she did.

Brady can't afford a better place than that?

Victor killed Deimos, and not Nicole?

Brady and Tate moved into Eve's suite at the Salem Inn while he's looking for a place for them all.

Nicole killed Deimos, but Victor TRIED to do it (by hiring Zander to do it). Nicole beat him to it.

I also wondered about the game of thrones author when the show first introduced the author character. I don't know anything about him and I wonder how much of that character is true for the author.

None of it, as far as I know. I DO know GRRM, and he's happily married to the woman he's been living with for decades. I've never heard anyone accuse him of any inappropriate behavior. (I have heard feminist criticism of his work, but that's an altogether different kettle of fish.)

I assumed he was kidnapping her, since he took her phone and carried her off, as opposed to, oh, I don't know, calling 911?

Ciara's phone was out of power (according to Ciara in a previous scene), so Ben couldn't have called 911 unless he had his own phone. But he shouldn't have picked her up (which could cause paralysis if she has a spinal injury). He SHOULD have tried to flag down a passing car instead.

But I don't think he was kidnapping her; I think he was trying to help her.

  16. I've done GoT tours in Northern Ireland and Iceland (one from Reykyavik and one from Akyureri), and just came back from Spain, where I visited the Alcazar in Seville (Dorne).

Next year, I'll be back in Ireland and plan to visit "Winterfell" (there's a tour from Dublin).

I've been to the Basque coast, but it was before GoT, so it wasn't significant to me at the time. I was also in Morocco, but not in any of the places GoT was filmed.

  17. If they were pressed for time, and didn't have the "extractor hat" (or couldn't use it on Abernathy), why didn't they just cut off his head and carry it out in a suitcase or tote bag or something. No need to waste time removing the "pearl" or trying to upload the data elsewhere!

Asking out of curiosity-Is Psalm 23 only a Christian thing? Psalms are in the Old Testament.

The English translation is different even if it is in the old testament. Here's one version I found on line:

    A psalm of David.

I want for nothing, for Adonai is my shepherd: it is God who lets me lie down in pastures of grass and who leads me to calm waters to restore my spirit, who walks me in level pastures as befits a shepherd of sounds reputation.

Even though I must sometimes pass through dark valleys, I fear no harm for You are with me; indeed, Your crook and Your walking stick are sources of constant comfort for me.

You set a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with so much fine oil that I feel like an overflowing cup.

Nothing but goodness and mercy pursue me all the days of my life; indeed, I feel certain that I shall dwell in the House of Adonai for days without end.
