  1. I found the main two actors' accents very distracting in the first episode, but I didn't notice it as much in this one.  In the pilot, it sounded like they were both talking in weird monotone.  Of course, it's unrealistic for them to have perfect American accents, but I'd prefer that to weird fake new-immigrant accents.

I read an article where the actress met the real mom. She actually toned her down for the show.

  2. I (surprisingly) was invested in April & Jackson's storyline. Its a devastating but its a real life heartbreak that some people have to live through. Its going to be sad but I want to see it play out. I thought Sarah Drew was great last night.

I was actually thinking about this last night and if they would need to go to a clinic. Showing them go through the gauntlet and getting the procedure done. If the show was in one of the states that passed laws about what the Dr HAS to say to you or the waiting periods, it would have been interesting to hear Jackson and April mumbling how BS the statements abortion Drs are forces to repeat. It seems that Washington State has pretty relaxed laws.

  3. Leave it to Archer to spoof an old and not exactly well-known Clint Eastwood movie.

I read the book before I found out about the movie.

This show is constantly challenging my knowledge of old treaties and I'm losing.

  4. This episode took me out of it a little bit when it implied there were people that worked on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I don't know anyone of any race who works on a national holiday in corporate America (where Dre clearly works).

I'm the owner of a small business. I get to decide which days my people get as "holidays". I tend to default on days where we can't get in touch with our clients. I also like to give the day before, day and day after Christmas & New Years, because you can't get in touch with people those days.  Every now and then I think about making Thanksgiving, Xmas & New Years a non paid day, but that would me I would need to show up. So, bleh.

I remember waaay back that Anthony Anderson mentioned that he would rather be a bit player/best friend in the film because there was more stability.  That always struck me as a very rational and calculated take on the business.

  5. Control was able to bring her gun into Canada with her? Huh.

I wanked taht the kid was able to sneak around the White House the same way that Root wanders the dark areas. As told by the great computers monitoring the camera feeds.

I do love Control going down to the basement of the Exchange to check things out, but since TV doesn't have smell-o-vision, we have to see her touch the wet paint. ou Can't you usually spell the paint if it is that wet?

  6. Granted, I have never worked in television so have no knowledge of the technicalities involved, but at the very least...could Joe not have covered his mic with his hand while coughing up a lung or snorting snot? Good lord that was disgusting. Couldn't the control room have kept an eagle eye on him and just cut his sound for 5 seconds while he "cleared his throat"?

IIRC, Maddow had mentioned before that she has & others have buttons they can press if they know they are going to cough. It kills the mic. I guess Joe doesn't believe in filtering anything that comes out of his mouth?

  7. In NYC, that would be in a skyscraper. The city has no water pumping as it is gravity fed from upstate, until you get up to the 5th-6th floor.....THEN you need pumps...

That would make sense.  Those starters looked really big and you might want to put in a little chlorine to keep the residual.  I stayed in NYC once and got a kick out of counting the water towers on the surrounding buildings.

  8. Just on that Emergency Stop button (I've never heard them referred to as mushroom buttons here in Australia, is that an American thing?),

We also call them Emergency Stop buttons, but the vendors have them listed also as mushroom pushbuttons.

I think the pushbutton was there just to kill Shaw.It would make no sense to have that big of a button to let the elevator leave that location.

  9. What was that conveniently prominent elevator override button anyway? Are those common in real life? It didn't look like an emergency shut-off switch, more like the opposite. used

The override button is commonly referred to in the industry as a mushroom pushbutton, because is looks like a mushroom shaped pushbutton Dah-dum-dum. Usually it is used and an emergency stop button "Oh no, something went wrong & we need to stop the equipment so someone doesn't die or explode" It is easier to smack it than pressing a standard pushbutton. You don't see them around elevators, its required to be next to generators.

I love it when there is electrical equipment in the background. I try to figure out what type of place they are shooting in.  I think this place was a water pumping station, because of the chem pumps and big motor starters next to the elevator.

  10. Loved the episode.

One thing about working with industrial equipment, you know what they are when its in background or part of scenes.  The group is walking in the basement of the financial building and oh, hey...they just walked past chemical feed pumps.  Why would Harold open up a fused disconnect switch and talk about how he can work on the engine? Must stop overthinking things.

  11. Before: Samaritan sees Shaw's face, goes "Oh, that's Sameen Whateverherfakenameis. And in my database, that identity is not a threat. Moving on."

Now: Samaritan sees Shaw's face, goes "Oh, that's Sameen Whateverherfakenameis, and in my database, that identity is a threat. KILL KILL KILL."

IIRC, Shaw's designation was changed to "Deviant" and just to kill her or something.

Greer's backstory was a little interesting, but I just watched 6 episodes of The Game on BBC regarding MI5 in the early 70s and that was more fun.

  12. I guess I'll wait until Sunday to see if Meet the GOP (a/k/a Meet the Press) will interview Senator McCain or if I will see Joe, Cackles, etc. instead.

The Sith Lord (aka Penguin) is booked. More reason to dodge that show on Sunday. My blood pressure shoot through the roof within 2 seconds of him appearing on the TV.

  13. MSNBC has covered the Christie report. They're just not saying what phony baloney Joe wants them to say which is that Christie has NOT been exonerated. The investigation by the NJ congress couldn't make a finding of either guilt or innocence, because the main players in the scandal refused to testify before the committee.

Part of that is because there is still a FEDERAL investigation still going on and the rumor is that indictments will be handed down then.

Joe - there is no evidence!!! That has never stopped you before.
