barnicle was shocked what the energy dept does. No one knew that it controlled  nuclear weapons.

I bet Hillary does. I bet most of her staff do. I bet that she probably prepared several white papers on her goal for the Energy Department and upgrading decades (scores?) old tech that controls our nuclear weapons. I bet the group never asked about it because they railed about how stupid she was for paying attention to policy issues and not servers.

  2. Remember 8 years ago when everyone was going on about how Obama HAD to work with the Republicans and create a a team of rivals that will work for the greater good.

Why hasn't the group brought in Doris Goodwin to comment on the Trump administration? Have they really not mentioned how many Goldman Sachs people Trump has tapped?

  3. Finally a topic I know a little bit about.  I thought it was weird that Sherlock went after the contractor who builds the plant first as the culprit.  This just teals me that Sherlock (and the writers) have never seen a design-bid-build or design-build project in their life.  If there ever is going to be a billion dollar plant, everyone is going to be sniffing at it: first the engineers (planning, designs and making sure the contractors install it correctly), then the contractors, then the 1MG filter manufacturers, the DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) manufacturers, etc. There is always heavy competition between all of the groups for the projects.

Way too much work for a bug that won't be killed by UV or chlorine.

  4. When it was revealed that Diane googled sex, I was a little disappointed becaue it was easy. I wanted it to play more on everyone's fear that she is going to be a mad power-broker when she gets older.

Joe made fun of the Japanese executive who was at Trump tower & wanted to create 50k jobs &make America great again.

But didn't they mention on the show that this guy's stock went up 6% overnight? The reason the market is going crazy is that the traders think that all restraints are gone and its time to jack the workers and prices.

ETA - Did the group bring up that Bob Dole/firm was paid $140k by the Taiwanese government as a lobbyist? That Bob Dole has been meeting with Trump? The Bank of Trump has been open.

  6. They group was discussing who was in the running for Time Person of the Year.  Mika kept wondering why Beyonce was on the list. The group mostly ignored her. Her deadpan delivery, I think, left most of them wondering if she was serious or not. Kasie Hunt finally supplied that she released an album, "Lemonade"... Yet still Mika asked why she was on the list. Dammit, give us a clue if you think her being on the short list is a joke, you think Beyonce is over rated, WHAT!?!

  7. I tried. Things that stuck:

    • Mika was snitty
    • Joe was overbearing
    • There was no consensus about Trump being a brilliant strategist or going to blow up the world.
    • There was consensus that the world won't trust anything he tweets and is not above letting the SoS hang out to dry.

Joe is on a rant that he pays 55% tax. Joe wants spending cuts to offset the tax cuts.

If you are paying 55% in tax, you are raking in most of your money in salary, not investments. At those rates you are also getting paid a gross sum of money. Joe- if people getting paid $10 an hour can make it and live thing their budget, so can you.

Side note, when Ross Perot ran for president in 1992, he railed against government spending but had most of his money in government bonds because of the lower taxes. That is how much of in imprint it made on me.

She was controversial and a fucking nightmare in DC.  Mention her name and eyes start rolling.  I personally never want to see or hear from her ever again.

She's married to my mayor. ITA. She'll be the token "democrat" on the cabinet.  I tried to make it through one hour, but Mika's smugness drove me away. The other thing that almost had me throwing something at the TV was the NYT guy who wanted Trump to have a signature infrastructure project. "Obama didn't have a signature project". He had  the  (weird acronym project) that was lots of small project. Dude has no memory.  The Republicans wouldn't pass any infrastructure other than the first one. They wanted him to fail and tried for 8 years! Our infrastructure needs small. but expensive repairs.  Think of it is your standard work clothes that have become threadbare, they need to be mended or replaced. The dude want a fancy fur coat which won't help with your normal work clothes that is in your closet and you still use!

  10. The group brings up Reagan and Nixon. Does no one remember what happened during those administrations? How many resignations and indictments.

If everyone knew what a piece of work Rudy was, why didn't they bring it up during the campaign and complain

  11. Oh Tom Cotton, you snivelling blowhard.  Yup, keep on believing that Iran was so afraid of Reagan that they gave back the hostages when he took office. "Afraid", not some sort of Russian type hack or behind the scenes deal to get rid of Carter. And the panel just let him do his talking points for 5 minutes straight with no challenges.

ETA - did they not mention Gwen Ifill's passing? I didn't catch it.

Among the points Moore raised were the number of Michigan votes (90,000 - more than the margin) where the voter left the president's vote blank. That wasn't a groundswell for Trump. That were voters disgusted by BOTH parties. And I will never tire of the point that Bernie Sanders spoke to these issues a year ago, and the Democratic establishment ignored him. Moore pointed out how Clinton was ahead by 20 points the day before the Michigan primary....and lost to Bernie. The pollsters and the media got that wrong and continued to get it wrong.

After this segment, they had a talking head discuss how blacks in Michigan didn't turn out in numbers and no one bought up what Michael Moore just said.

I'm not sure what the WH press secretary makes but I would guess it would be pay cut of approximately $7.8 million a year. And it would be a step down  - in fact most people take the job in hopes of a job like Joe has now. He is not going anywhere.

But it would add more to Joe's repertoire. "Back when I was in the WH..."

I scheduled a day off from work so I can watch the entire show. I am going to try & do a live recap. The show will get crazy if Florida has another recount. In 2012, it took a few days to officially call it for Obama. I remember how nuts 2000 was. If Florida is close, Joe will brag at how easy it would have been for Bush or Rubio to win it. Of course, Trump beat Rubio & Bush despite their local connections.

Heh. Back in 2012, when I realized that Obama was going to win, I immediately turned to Fox. They did not disappoint. Wednesday is going to be so much fun.

My son saw that ad and immediately thought it was "one of those weird conspiracy theories, like the Illuminati". I said, "would it make any difference if you knew those three prominently featured people inside that theme were Jewish?" And it did.

Of course Joe had to go on and explain that he didn't hear the dog whistle and neither did 100 of his closest friends. Ana Marie Cox pretty much jumped in and asked if they were all white. Joe then went on a 5 minute bender about how pro Israel he was and defended his hearing. I don't think that AMC is going to be asked to be on the show for a while. Heh.

I loved it when Dr Z came on, and it was funny because he was always so contemptuous at Joe. But this show has changed so much since then. Now it is almost exclusively the "process politics" that Dana Milbank correctly decried in his article (Milbank used to come on the show too.)

I guess that Dr Z is the only one with a pair that Joe is too afraid to shout down.

I would have thrown my coffee at Joe if he kept screaming "Let me talk!" after bogarting the conversation.
