  1. Cosmetology by correspondence sounds pretty sketchy to me. I want anyone working on my hair to have had plenty of hands on experience, under the supervision of a real teacher! Online education is great for some things, I wouldn't consider this to be one of them.
  2. What do you all think would happen if one of the unmarried Rodrigues daughters expressed an interest in cosmetology? Would she be allowed to go to beauty school? (Sorry if that's not the correct terminology. I think of Frankie Avalon singing "Beauty School Dropout"!) I guess Jill must have gone to school to become licensed. But would they risk letting their daughters attend such a worldly institution? Other than the education required it seems like it could be a good source of income for a young fundie woman. Put a salon chair in a corner of the garage, et voila, you're working from home. She could even screen her clientele so as to not offend her conscience (short hair styles, touching men, etc.)
  3. Could Gabler tell the jury that he plans on donating the entire prize? That might earn him a few votes in a season with three undistinguished finalists
  4. Thanks to all for all the great suggestions! I'm having fun checking them out. I really enjoy the British mysteries---Father Brown, Doc Martin, Death in Paradise. They're all fun.
  5. Thanks for the recommendations. I do enjoy a bit of humor with my crime solving. Anything along those lines in particular?
  6. What's another show I should watch now that I've seen every episode of Psych and Monk so many times that I can recite the lines verbatim along with the actors? Looking for recommendations.
  7. Oh, that sounds about right! "Me young mucker" perhaps. That's a phrase I've never heard, even after many years of watching British tv. Thanks!
  8. I'm new to Murdoch Mysteries, having just recently discovered it on Hulu. I'm only on season two, and I'm loving it! I have one question. I love Inspector Breckenreid and his accent, but I can't make out what it is that he occasionally calls Murdoch? From the context it appears to be a friendly term of endearment. Not English though. Scots Gaelic or just Canadian slang? Anybody know what I mean?
  9. Thank you, that's interesting. I still don't get why she wouldn't have just told Adam everything since he already knew the worst (the pregnancy). Why she delayed and kept Tripp's secret. But I guess if she hadn't there wouldn't have been a miniseries!
  10. What an intriguing and fun show to watch! I love it when a show can surprise me and this one did-several times. Now I want to read the book. The acting was great and the many storylines kept me guessing throughout, trying to figure out how they all fit together. Because of that, it was a bit of a disappointment that they really didn't all fit together, and the teenager subplot, while interesting in itself, had nothing to do with the blackmail. One plotline I haven't been able to resolve (and it shows how good it is that I'm still thinking about it and trying to piece it all together.). Why, when Adam confronted Corinne about the faked pregnancy, did she say (paraphrasing) "This is bigger than you think. There's more to it than you know.". There really wasnt, was there? The fake pregnancy didn't have anything to do with the blackmail, did it? And why did she immediately go call the neighbor about the missing football club money? I'm trying to see the connection between the blackmail, the pregnancy, and the missing money, and I don't see it. Help?
